Death… And Me

Chapter 3534: The Give Up Stage

”Hmph!” Roan relented. ”Don’t fight the Spatial Pull.”

As soon as Roan said that, several Spatial Gates began to appear in the area. However, they were too late. Elsie Ranka was sent back into the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm. Roan and the others followed. There was no such thing as teleport formation. Instead, The twins sent Celis somewhere far away from there ahead of time. After that, they entered the Dimensional Realm and left by Celis’s side, almost a million kilometers away. Let’s not forget, at the moment, a million kilometers is the limit accepted by the system. (Check the Auxiliary Chapter for the System Ability related to range.)

Rean and Kentucky didn’t stay there. Celis returned to the Dimensional Realm with Roan while Rean and Kentucky flew away once again. They were much further away this time, so it was a pretty uneventful trip. Besides, the twins’ group entered the Dimensional Realm before the experts even came out of the Spatial Gates, so when Elsie Ranka’s pursuers arrived, there wasn’t anything else there anymore. They even wondered if they had come to the right place since no trace was left behind.

As Rean and Kentucky flew, they also paid attention to the Dimensional Realm. There, Roan had his arms crossed, looking at Elsie once again. ”So?”

Elsie bitterly smiled. She didn’t forget that inside someone else’s Pocket Dimensional Realm, she was completely powerless. But then again, it was that, or being captured by her pursuers. ”Ahem... aren’t you curious about why I’m being pursued?”

”I don’t give a fuck!” Roan answered without thinking twice. The last thing he needed was to be brought into this Zuhure Spirit’s mess. ”I want to learn the Sixth Level of Weapon Intent, so don’t even waste your time speaking about your past. I don’t wanna know.”

Elsie didn’t know if she was happy or angry with that. After all, not having to be forced to speak of your past is supposed to be a good thing. It’s just that she didn’t like how Roan phrased it. ”Fine... What do you want to know first?”

”I have no idea,” Roan continued. ”Let me see... how about you tell me why you create weapons of Divine Energy instead of using real Sickles?”

Rean’s attention was picked there. They had considered the possibility that the next level had no need for material weapons after all. However, they also thought it was too farfetched, so they would find the real answer now.

”So they look like weapons made only of Divine Energy to you, uh? Well, I guess that’s not entirely wrong,” Elsie began to explain. ”However, that is also not correct.” With Roan’s permission, Elsie summoned another Sickle of energy in the Dimensional Realm.

”It is partially made of Divine Energy, but the other half of it is made of my Sickle Intent,” she said as she played with it.

Roan narrowed his eyes. ”Half of it is made of Sickle Intent?”

That sounded wrong somehow in Roan’s ears. ”Does it have something to do with the second stage?”

The Second Stage of Weapon Intent was Ethereality. It was a way of giving form to your intent on your weapon. It acted as a complement to the weapon and couldn’t exist without it. The twins had comprehended this one a long, long time ago.

”Oh, you are quite smart,” Elsie nodded. ”It is actually pretty similar. It’s just that it won’t be ethereal anymore. It will take a real material form when used even if you don’t have the corresponding weapon.”

”To solidify that form, Divine Energy is added to the mix. However,” Elsie stopped for a moment. The Sickle she was holding then began to lose some Divine Energy. In its place, Roan could feel her Sickle Intent even more strongly. ”The addition of Divine Energy is nothing but a stopgap,” Elsie concluded.

Rean’s voice echoed in the Dimensional Realm at that moment. ”Are you saying that once you completely master the Sixth Stage, Divine Energy won’t be necessary anymore?”

”Yes,” Elsie confirmed. ”Currently, the best I can do is a Sickle with 70% Sickle Intent and 30% Divine Energy. If I create a lot of them at once, then this rate falls to 50-50 more or less. The more you create, the harder it is to control.”

Roan looked at his White Star Scythe. He had been using the upgraded versions of Rean’s Weapons for a long time, and at least on that side, Rean never disappointed him. ”So the next stage...”

Elsie nodded. ”You will never get to the next stage if you don’t give up. In fact, that’s the name of the next stage, or at least how it is known here in our Universe. The Give Up Stage.”

Outside, Rean took out his Black Star, using his True Intent through it. What Elsie said seemed simple, but having used a sword for so long, it was definitely easier said than done.

Roan, however...

*Zu... plang, plang, plang...*

He threw his White Star away as if it wasn’t even there. ”Done. What now?”

Rean’s mouth twitched. It was still one of his master pierces. ”Couldn’t you at least treat it more gently?”

”It’s just a weapon,” Roan answered without a care. ”If it becomes the limitation of my strength, I will discard it without a second thought.”

”Sigh...” Rean looked at his Black Star one last time, throwing it back inside the Dimensional Realm. ”I guess it can’t be helped.”

Zangeshu couldn’t help but ask on the side. ”But... is it really worth it? I mean, master’s weapons not only can gather the surrounding elements, but they also attract spatial powers. Just those additions alone had made your attack powers so much stronger. Besides, can something made of Intent really be as resistant as a real material weapon? It feels wrong somehow.”

Indeed, Rean’s last weapons could gather both the necessary elements and spatial powers. For Rean, his Sword gathered Dark Element, while Roan’s gathered Light. It complemented their elemental exchange even further. Giving that free elemental and spatial help didn’t seem very wise, let alone the material part Zangeshu mentioned.

Roan didn’t ignore Zangeshu’s words. They made sense in his head, after all.

Yet, Elsie smiled. ”As expected, you already came up with excuses. Now, do you see why the Sixth Stage is called the Give Up Stage? This is not about just not using a real weapon anymore. You have to give up the very notion of needing that specific weapon. ”

Zangeshu was taken aback. His words could be considered rational, no doubt, but they also highlighted the barrier between the Fifth and Sixth Stages, the ability to give up your weapon!

Elsie shrugged in the end. ”There is no point in showing anything else from this point onwards. Until you can truly give up your weapon, my hands are tied.”
