Death… And Me

Chapter 3531: Elsie Ranka

”Back then, you were fleeing in the same direction as me and my companions. Brother, you almost caused us to be caught by those experts, and we even thought we were actually the target. Only after you got close enough to us did we see that we weren’t really the target of that pursuit,” Rean explained.

”We flew in a different direction and, with quite some effort, avoided all the Divine Senses and Natural Spatial perceptions. Only then did we turn around, and my bird friend here watched the show below as the experts closed on you.”

”It was then that we felt your Weapon Intent, and we got very interested in it. Following that, my friends fled somewhere else, and I positioned myself in the path you were taking. Sooner or later, as long as you didn’t change your direction, you would pass by the mountains area where I was waiting for you.”

”I made it look like I was just a cultivator cultivating in a hidden cave and even pretended to receive a huge backlash when I was spotted. That was enough for the experts around to ignore me. After all, I’m just a Space-Bending Realm Middle Stage Expert. Everyone there was in the Space-Time Realm and above. What could an ant like me, one that received a huge backlash on top of that, do in that situation? Nothing, obviously... or so the experts pursuing you thought.”

”The truth was that I had already prepared the terrain. I made two concealing formations there. The first one was the formation the experts saw through. It made it look like I used quite a low-level formation and lowered their guards. The second one was the real deal. It wasn’t there to conceal me but to conceal another formation under it.”

”The important one was the Space-Manipulation Formation, which is pretty much the same as the formations used to expand the insides of rooms when you don’t have enough space to work around. It was simple, fast, and useful to make. In that situation, it had one use and one use only: allow me to take control over the spatial properties of that specific area.”

”As you can imagine, I didn’t have a lot of time to work on those formations, so the Space-Manipulation Formation was very low-level. Any Silver Level Formations Master would be able to make one as well. It’s just that I made it in record time. Hahaha!”

”Anyway, such a low-level formation would never be able to gain control over the spatial properties of an area dominated by various Divinity and Space-Time Realm experts. In fact, it wouldn’t last even a single second! However, that was all I needed. When you fell by the side of the mountain, I activated the formation. All its runes began to break down almost instantly, and the formation itself only took control of that small area for a split-second.”

”In that split-second, I activated a teleport formation, and we were teleported somewhere else nearby. By the way, my companions here were the ones who built the other side of the teleport formation while I waited for you to arrive at my mountain.”

”The rest is obvious. We put you inside my Pocket Dimensional Realm so you couldn’t be tracked, we left the area as soon as we could, and once we were safe, we all entered my Pocket Dimensional Realm, waiting for you to wake up.”

Everything Rean said was true... up to the point he spoke about using a teleport formation. That part was a lie. Instead, he simply entered the Dimensional Realm with the unconscious Badger Spirit and left it by Kentucky and Roan’s side. Fortunately, the breakdown of the Space-Manipulation Formation caused a split-second Spatial Blindness in that specific location.

Thanks to that, none of them had the chance to see the entrance of the Dimensional Realm left behind before it had already disappeared when Rean exited the Dimensional Realm by Roan and Kentucky’s side. For all intentions and purposes, what happened in that place was a teleportation.

The badger obviously had his doubts. ”Even if you got control over that area for a split second, the area surrounding it was still a Spatial Chaos. You teleported us in that situation? You must be crazy!”

Rean shrugged. ”Well, it was either that or dying there. Also, it wasn’t as dangerous as you think. Spatial Chaos gets more dangerous during teleportation the further away you are trying to teleport from that location. Where did I teleport? No more than seventy thousand kilometers away. It was truly a very, very short teleportation, so the risk of the Spatial Chaos killing us during that teleportation was actually pretty small. Perhaps 10% or so? More or less that.”

The badger narrowed his eyes, sitting down. ”Alright, I will take your word for it. In the end, it doesn’t really matter that much since I was saved. Now then, the reason you saved me was because you felt my Sickle Intent, correct?”

The twins nodded, and so did Zangeshu, who had just arrived. Zangeshu also used weapons, and Rean had taught him Weapon Intents. He was still in the third level, but it wouldn’t hurt to learn more about it. ”But first... can you tell me your name? Also, which race are you from? I haven’t seen a spirit like you before.”

”Oh, right. I guess we should start there,” the Badger Spirit nodded. ”I’m indeed a spirit. To be more specific, I’m a member of the Earth Zuhure Race. I’m quite surprised you haven’t seen one of us before. We aren’t exactly rare, you know? In the neighbor continent of Hasuzez, you can find billions of us in the right areas. That’s where I came from as well. As for my name, you can call me Elsie.”

”Elsie?” Kentucky got curious. ”Are you a female? We’ve been treating and speaking of you as male so far.” It wasn’t really easy to tell since Elsie’s voice didn’t have a specific gender tone from males or females.

Elsie shook her head. ”I don’t mind if you think about me like that, but truth be told, we don’t really have genders. I do agree the name is pretty female, though. Him, Her, He, She, it makes no difference to me.”

”Well, since it is Elsie, it will be weird to use he or him, so I’ll just pretend I was using the wrong one so far and switch,” Rean said. ”But what about Ranka? I heard those experts calling you by this name.” Sure enough, Rean didn’t forget that.
