Death… And Me

Chapter 3529: Out of Ideas

Not far away from where the badger was running, the experts attacking the badger noticed a middle-aged man deep inside one of the mountains in the surroundings.

’Who are you?!’ They asked through Divine Sense. Immediately, three Space-Time Realm experts detached from the group, going after the middle-aged man.

The middle-aged man seemed shocked to have suddenly been contacted, and he immediately coughed several mouths of blood. His cultivation went chaotic, and he grunted as if he had just received an extremely painful attack.

Those three who came to check who it was understood the situation in an instant. That guy was cultivating in this place, hidden from the outside world. The formation he was using wasn’t all that good, so when they got close enough, they were able to see him inside the concealing formation. Even worse for the middle-aged man, they contacted him just as he was at an important moment of his cultivation, and the backlash from that shock was pretty bad.

*Arghh...*

The middle-aged man put his hand on his chest, feeling the pain of the backlash. Still, he tried his best to touch the formation, deactivating it before spreading his own Divine Sense. Even his Divine Sense felt like it could crumble at any moment. Only then did he see what was happening outside. ’W-What is happening here? *cough, cough, cough...*’

’You truly were unlucky...’ Those three Space-Time Realm experts felt slightly sorry for him. With the concealment formation deactivated, they saw even more clearly just how bad the backlash was to the middle-aged man. His cultivation seemed to be regressing, and from what they could see, he might lose another stage of his cultivation because of what they did. ’Stay in there, don’t come out. Don’t blame us for being harsh if you try something. A puny Space-Bending Realm like you will die in an instant if any of the aftermaths of the battle reaches you.’

’Ri-right!’ The middle-aged man saw the entire thing unfold, and only shock could be seen on his face. That was to be expected. At his level, it would be luck if he managed to see a Divinity Realm Expert during a battle in his life, let alone five of them, followed by a huge bunch of Space-Time Realm experts... or so he looked like. However, that middle-aged man was obviously Rean, and he was just pretending to be in that ’unlucky’ situation.

Those three Space-Time Realm experts quickly told the others about the middle-aged man. Naturally, no one wanted to take any chances, so they checked the man with their Divine Senses as well, including the Divinity Realm guys. Seeing the deplorable state the man found himself in, every single one of them ignored him.

Someone with such a low cultivation and who received such a nasty backlash would pose no threat to the operation. In fact, if they truly tried to divert their attention to take care of the middle-aged man, that might give the badger spirit a chance to escape, and they couldn’t afford that. After all, as weakened as the man found himself, it wasn’t like he would simply accept dying, and he would try to defend himself. Those encircling the badger couldn’t deal with that Ant right now.

The Badger-like Spirit, Ranka, soon got close to the man’s cave. Still, Ranka completely ignored the middle-aged man as soon as he saw his cultivation. He didn’t even need to consider the damage the middle-aged man received from the backlash of his cultivation failure. A Space-Bending Realm expert wouldn’t be of any use to him to start with... or so he thought.

’Hey, little friend, do you want to escape?’ Those words reached Ranka, much to his surprise.

Even though this was a Divine Sense Message, Ranka could feel the leisure behind those words. There was no doubt they came from the middle-aged man, but the more Ranka’s Divine Sense focused on him, the worse the middle-aged man looked. What could an almost dead cultivator, with such low cultivation on top of that, possibly do for him in that situation?

’I know what you are thinking, but this is just a pretense,’ the Middle-Aged man, Rean, spoke. ’Besides, I don’t think you have much of a choice at the moment. Less than 5% of your Divine Energy reserves remain, and with this little, I doubt you will last more than one or two minutes before they capture you. Of course, you could try to commit suicide, but if you decide to do that, how about trusting me first?’

Ranka counter-attacked one of the Divinity Realm experts again, forcing him back with his Sickle Intent. He was almost caught due to a lapse of attention. Rean’s words caused that, and he was also right. Ranka did indeed intend to commit suicide in the end. What was this, another trap? Ranka couldn’t tell. ’What do you intend to do?’

The middle-aged man faintly smiled. ’With your precise control over your weapons and intent, make it look like you were struck down and fell towards my cave. At that moment, you will feel a Spatial Pull. Do not fight it. Let it drag you away. By the way, you can call me... err... oh, fuck it. I’m out of ideas. Just call me Rean.’

’Spatial Pull?’ Ranka almost laughed right there, completely ignoring the name part. ’All the space in this area is completely locked down. No teleportations will work here. I can’t even enter my Pocket Dimensional Realm at the moment.’

Ranka was right. The Space-Time and Divinity Realm experts not only locked down the space in the area, they also caused the space to go chaotic. Attempting teleportation, even if it was possible, would be suicide. The same went for Rean. Just like when Rifindio trapped Rean back in the Mortal Realm, he also couldn’t enter the Celestial Soul Dimensional Realm at the moment. The locked space made it impossible.

Still, Rean didn’t seem concerned at all. ’Well, you can still do whatever you want if it doesn’t work out. Once again, it’s your choice... and I don’t think you have a bunch of them at the moment.’

’Fine!’ Ranka finally gave up. Other than that, only enslavement or death remained.
