The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 814: Chapter 814: Zeze is Responsible (2)

”Read on.” Fang Tianze widened his eyes, ”But Mom, eldest sister said that I can’t just study dead-book-fashion, or I’d become a bookworm. I need to understand life, understand the people’s livelihood... This includes all aspects, not only understanding business but also watching the farmers tend to their fields, and observing the apprentices and shopkeepers in their dealings... Also, elder sister said that it’s better to travel ten thousand miles than to read ten thousand books, and that broadening one’s horizons is very important...” Because Yang Ruxin had been added to their family tree, he addressed her like Erni and the others.

A trace of astonishment flickered in Fang Dehua’s eyes as he involuntarily looked towards Yang Ruxin.

”Godfather and godmother, indeed, this is what I said.” Yang Ruxin nodded, ”Zeze is bright and eager to learn, but if he gets caught up in pedantry, it could make a person stupid. I don’t want my brother to become a bookworm. Besides, I’ve learned that the current Emperor emphasizes the livelihood of the people too; he has even traveled incognito to the south several times to understand the living conditions of the lower classes. Only in this way can one know what the people need...” This information had been divulged to her by Gu Qingheng.

Fang Dehua could no longer hide the astonishment on his face, admiring such insight even though he himself was a scholar.

”Moreover, our Great Xuan Dynasty is vast and rich in resources, surrounded by many countries that covet our land. To defend against foreign enemies and protect our homeland, we need more than mere scholarly erudition; we need military strength and silver...” Yang Ruxin looked candidly at Fang Dehua and Yuan Mengzhu, ”Now that Zeze is my brother, I want him to become the best he can be. He has the talent of a Prime Minister, but I hope he will be one who understands the hardships of the people, not a Prime Minister enamored with pedantry... I also hope that he can set an example for Dabao and Xiaofeng...”

Yuan Mengzhu was stunned, but inexplicably felt that what Xinxin said was right.

”Haha...” Yuan Mengqing suddenly burst into laughter, ”My sister and brother-in-law, you’ve indeed found a treasure. With Ruxin here, Zeze will surely have boundless prospects...” He paused for a while, ”Since this side is under Zeze’s charge, over there, I’ll have Tiantian take responsibility. That boy should also get more involved with family affairs and understand the suffering outside...”

Tiantian is Yuan Jingtian, the eldest son of Yuan Mengqing and Cai Wenjuan, eighteen years old today, and also fond of reading, having already attained the title of Scholar.

For several generations, the Yuan Family had not produced a scholar, making Yuan Jingtian stand out among his contemporaries.

”That’s wonderful.” Fang Tianze immediately smiled, ”This way, I can meet with my elder cousin more often and exchange ideas with him.” Although he didn’t participate this year, he would in the future imperial examinations, and it was important to interact with someone knowledgeable.

”So, cooperation...” Yuan Mengqing, after all, was a businessman and wouldn’t let such a business opportunity slip by.

”Actually, those medicinal tea formulas are quite simple, nothing more than mixing tea leaves with various Chinese medicinal herbs — different herbs produce different effects.” Yang Ruxin glanced at Yuan Mengqing, ”If someone who has even a little medical knowledge were to look at it, they’d probably know how to concoct it...”

”Ruxin, that’s not quite right.” Cai Wenjuan shook her head, ”I’ve had medicinal tea from other places before, but the effects were mild...” She said, touching her face, ”But your medicinal tea is different, it truly has effects. Even if I don’t drink it for a few days now, I don’t snore and choke myself like before, and I feel my skin has become smoother too...”
