The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 805: Chapter 805: Erni’s Change (6)

Xun Hui was doing needlework with Erni, with the recently slumbered Sini and a few others on the bed, the little ones having been excited for the better part of the day and now tired out.

”How will your eldest sister manage in the future with such poor sewing skills?” Xun Hui, who was embroidering a handkerchief, remembered Yang Ruxin’s needlework and felt a headache coming on.

”Mother, you needn’t worry,” said Erni, glancing up at Xun Hui then lowering her head to continue embroidering her pouch, ”Eldest sister is meant for great things. As for needlework, she can just hire someone to do it in the future...”

”Hire someone?”

”Yes,” Erni nodded, ”Eldest sister said that to accomplish great things, one must not be bogged down by trivial matters.” She lifted the pouch she was embroidering, ”For example, this thing, many people can make it, it’s just a matter of spending some silver, but not everyone can run a business or save lives through medical skills. So, why waste time on these things?”

”But...”

”Mother, I too thought it was unreliable at first, but think about it—if you embroider a pouch, it takes half a day if you’re quick, perhaps a whole day if you’re slow, and you earn only a few dozen coins at most. But in the shop, you can earn a tael or two of silver, and what if eldest sister treats someone? She might earn several dozen, even a hundred taels...”

”Yet a woman has to get married eventually, and if she can do nothing once she arrives at her husband’s family, then...”

”Oh, Mother, you worry too much. With silver and medical skills, eldest sister will be well-regarded no matter whom she marries,” Erni sighed, ”Besides, does being good at needlework guarantee a good marriage or the affection of the husband’s family?” She bit her lip lightly, ”Mother, your sewing skills are exquisite...”

In fact, she used to think that her eldest sister’s way was wrong, but she gradually realized that her eldest sister was the one who lived most freely. Even Gu Yao admired eldest sister; he said that only a self-reliant woman was worthy of Gu Yao himself. He also said that those women who could only embroider and scheme were only fit to be concubines, and suitable only for those lecherous, incompetent men. A capable man appreciates a woman who can stand shoulder to shoulder with him in battle. Therefore, she didn’t want to be a concubine; she wanted to be a woman worthy of Gu Yao. To achieve that, she must also become strong and not only dwell on domestic affairs, so she had to learn from her eldest sister.

It can’t be denied that Gu Yao had a significant influence on Erni’s change.

Xun Hui, however, was stunned.

”Mother, I...” Erni suddenly wondered if she had spoken too harshly?

”No matter,” Xun Hui sighed suddenly, ”Let it go...”

Just then, someone knocked on the door: ”Auntie...”

Erni immediately frowned.

But Xun Hui smiled a bit, ”Go open the door.” Naturally, that ended the previous conversation as well.

Without saying anything more, Erni stood up and pulled open the door.

”Xuexue is here too,” Yang Ruyu entered with a smile, ”Auntie, why haven’t you rested a bit?”

”I’m not tired...” Xun Hui chuckled, ”Why didn’t you take a break either?”

”Mengmeng is asleep; I’m not sleepy,” Yang Ruyu sat down at the table and picked up the handkerchief Xun Hui was embroidering to take a look, ”Auntie, your skills are getting better and better...” Then she looked up casually at Xun Hui and Erni, trying to appear nonchalant, ”Auntie, your eldest niece will soon be the foster daughter of the county magistrate’s family, quite an extraordinary status... But just now, I saw her leading a man into her room and closing the door...”
