The Feng Shui Treasure Appraiser

194: Chapter 194 Cultural FiguresAn educated person?

What kind of person counts as an educated person?

And with only this one clue, how are we supposed to investigate?

Han Jingyang nodded slightly. ”I understand. Let’s leave it at that for now.”

Shi Xiaoya blinked. ”Boss, should we...”

”No need.”

”Huh?”

”What is the purpose of not selling sand to me?”

”To stop you from building your house, Boss.”

”Right. There’s also the possibility that they simply want to cause trouble for me.”

”True, true. I just can’t figure out what they’re after.”

Han Jingyang took a deep breath. ”If this person spent a hundred thousand yuan just to annoy me or stop me from building a house, what does that indicate?”

Shi Xiaoya picked up the thread. ”They have money.”

”Yes, they have money. This person is wealthy and has a grudge against me, yet they can only choose such a childish method of revenge. This shows that the person is quite incompetent, perhaps even afraid to confront me directly, so they can only use these petty tricks to annoy me.”

”Is it possible there are other factors? For example, building the house might affect their interests.”

”Then they should have come forward to confront me instead of secretly spending money on such low-class tactics. Unless...”

Shi Xiaoya’s eyes lit up. ”Unless this person, or what they’re doing, can’t stand the light of day.”

Han Jingyang nodded. ”Right, there are only those two possibilities. This ’educated person’ is either a wealthy coward who can’t cause any real trouble and isn’t worth worrying about, or they’re someone who can’t operate in the light.”

”When you put it that way, things are much simpler. We ignore the former, and as for the latter...” Shi Xiaoya patted the katana at her waist with a murderous air. ”We drag that insidious coward out?”

”No need.”

”Why? Aren’t you afraid your parents might be in danger?”

”I’ve looked into it; it’s not a big problem.”

Shi Xiaoya was dazed. ”Huh?”

At that moment, Liu Jing triumphantly recounted what had happened to Ye Fei that morning. ”The Boss knows physiognomy. If there’s danger, it definitely won’t escape the Boss’s eyes. So, listening to the Boss is always right. Don’t act on your own.”

Shi Xiaoya’s eyes widened. ”Boss, when did your physiognomy become so divine? Weren’t you only able to see minor ailments a few days ago?”

Liu Jing snorted. ”Does the Boss need to report to you and explain everything he does?”

Shi Xiaoya tilted her head up. ”I’m doing this because I care about the Boss, and also to express my admiration.”

Liu Jing was even more disdainful. ”You’re just using sweet words to bewitch the Boss!”

Han Jingyang suddenly felt a bit of a headache.

While having a beauty on each arm felt pretty good...

Having these two arguing in his ear every day... that sensation was noisier than a thousand ducks.

How was he supposed to live like this in the future?

He had to find a way.

Han Jingyang cleared his throat. ”Anyway, let’s set this matter aside for now. However, Xiaoya is right; we can’t completely ignore it. We still need to be careful. How about this: arrange for some surveillance equipment, portable trackers, and alarm devices. You’re the professional in this area.”

Shi Xiaoya nodded with a beaming smile and said loudly, ”Don’t worry, Boss. Leave it to me. I can get the best stuff, the kind you can’t buy on the market.”

As she spoke, she shot a provocative glance at Liu Jing.

Liu Jing opened her mouth but could only say resentfully, ”Get a few for me too.”

”Call me Big Sister.”

”You...”

”Are you going to call me that or not?”

”Sister Xiaoya.”

”Ah, such a good girl. Just you wait. But, my dear little sister, this stuff isn’t cheap. Do you have the money? If not, it’s okay; Big Sister will cover for you first.”

”I do!”

”A little rich girl, huh...”

Eleven o’clock.

The Municipal Bureau.

After Han Jingyang finished his statement, he went to Shen Yuhai’s office and plopped down in the large chair opposite him. ”Director Shen, what’s the actual situation with this case?”

Shen Yuhai sighed. ”I shouldn’t tell you this before the investigation results are out, but you’re a professional, and you’ve collaborated closely with our unit and the Bureau of Religious Affairs. You’re qualified to hear it and perhaps give me some advice while you’re at it.”

Han Jingyang suddenly didn’t want to hear it anymore, but he couldn’t refuse Shen Yuhai’s request.

It wasn’t because Shen Yuhai held a high position, but because of the friendship between them. They had gotten along well from the start and had gone through several things together; their bond was definitely not something Ye Fei could compare to.

If Ye Fei was in trouble, he could ignore it without any psychological burden because Ye Fei didn’t mean much to him.

But if Shen Yuhai was in trouble, as long as he asked, Han Jingyang would provide whatever help he could.

If it were Wang Zhiwei or Xu Xin in this situation, he would do his best to help even without them asking.

Different levels of friendship meant different levels of effort in helping.

So, Han Jingyang nodded. ”I’ll take a look. I’m not sure if I can be of any help yet.”

”This matter is somewhat related to He Dingkun. You should know that, right?”

”Yes, Shi Xiaoya told me a bit, but she doesn’t know much because He Dingkun never talked about that woman in front of her. Most of what she knows is hearsay.”

”That’s where the difficulty lies. Most of the information we have is also hearsay. There are no other clues at all; it’s a complete cold case. It’s also considered a metaphysics-related case, but people from the Bureau of Religious Affairs investigated over there and found no issues. They just advised against people living there, but the house belongs to someone else, and we can’t stop people from buying or selling it, right?”

”That makes sense. What about Wang Xiaoyong’s case? Nothing was found there either?”

”There is something: Ye Fei. Ye Fei’s fingerprints and other traces were found at the scene. In Wang Xiaoyong’s phone, we also found chat logs of Wang Xiaoyong and Ye Fei arguing and even threatening each other, some even involving metaphysics.”

”That can’t be used as evidence, can it?”

”Correct, but he’s the prime suspect, and the autopsy results match perfectly. Although we don’t know the method of the crime yet, Ye Fei is currently the most suspicious. Even if we know something is fishy, we can’t just sit idly by.”

”If nothing else is found, will Ye Fei go to prison?”

”If the chain of evidence can be closed, there’s a high probability he’ll be sentenced. As for how long, that depends on the final ruling of the court and the procuratorate.”

”So the only thing missing is the murder weapon or the method of the crime, right?”

”Pretty much. He has the time and motive. Once the method is found, it’s nearly settled. His own testimony isn’t important in the face of such a closed chain of evidence.” Shen Yuhai sighed. ”So, brother, if you want to help him, hurry up. We are powerless in these matters. Of course, asking you is also a bit of personal selfishness on my part, as I happen to be in charge of this case.”

”You’re in charge? Aren’t you about to retire?”

”It’s precisely because I’m retiring soon that I want to solve this case even more. When Wang Wei died there, I was in charge of the investigation. When the second owner, Wang Binbin, died, I was also in charge. This is the third one, and I hope it’s the last. That way, I can retire with peace of mind. Otherwise, it’ll be a regret until the day I die.”

Han Jingyang nodded, then suddenly stood up and asked, ”What was the name of the second owner?”

”Wang Binbin.”

”Haven’t you noticed the commonality between these three people?”

”What? They all have the surname Wang? That... should be a coincidence, right?”

”No, it’s definitely not a coincidence. In the field of metaphysics, there’s no such thing as a coincidence. There must be a connection between these three that you haven’t grasped yet.”
