The Feng Shui Treasure Appraiser

187: Chapter 187 Passing ByHan Jingyang wasn’t intentionally hiding anything; he just didn’t know how to describe to Shen Yuhai what he had seen at Liu Qing’s house.

Just as Shen Yuhai himself had said, the field of Feng Shui and metaphysics was not within the jurisdiction of the current legal system.

If he told him, Shen Yuhai would just be left staring helplessly; they couldn’t arrest someone just because they set up a Feng Shui formation in their own home, right?

Besides, he still hadn’t figured out exactly what was going on with the Feng Shui formation he saw at Liu Qing’s house.

So, he could only remain silent.

Regardless, the three Liu brothers definitely wouldn’t be able to escape. Prying open Liu Ming and Huo Qian’s mouths and following the clues to make arrests would be the logical next step, which would save a lot of trouble.

After all, Liu Qing was no ordinary person; he was a moderately famous real estate developer in Quancheng with considerable influence.

If they arrested him without evidence, the moment he was brought in, someone would be knocking on their door to plead his case.

Therefore, Han Jingyang didn’t stir up any extra trouble. He walked around the house, confiscated two small items, and nodded to Shen Yuhai: ”We can go back now.”

”Let’s go. Delays only lead to complications.”

Although it wasn’t decades ago, making arrests in a village was still a relatively dangerous endeavor because it could attract interference or even obstruction from the villagers. If not handled well, it could trigger sensitive incidents.

Han Jingyang, having lived in the countryside, knew this all too well.

He nodded, walked out, got in the car, and followed slowly behind Shen Yuhai’s vehicle as they drove away from the scene.

But just as they were turning a corner, he saw a skinny Old Man walking towards them.

Shen Yuhai and his team even deliberately slowed down, fearing they might startle the Old Man.

But Han Jingyang became instantly alert.

This is a peer.

And a very powerful one at that.

He looked skinny, but his vitality was very strong. The water energy within his Five Elements aura was extremely heavy, far exceeding the other four elements, yet it was strangely not unbalanced.

Is this a metaphysics expert who specializes in water-attribute techniques?

Their strength is truly not weak.

However, he is not a good person. The aura of fortune above his head is strong but also impure, with various negative attributes like blood-red, gray, and black. This shows that this old thing has done plenty of wicked deeds.

A powerful metaphysics expert with poor moral character.

Could it be...

The vehicle flashed past. Han Jingyang withdrew his gaze, his sword-like eyebrows lifting slightly.

Liu Jing, sitting next to Han Jingyang, noticed it immediately and looked back through the rear window: ”Boss, is there something wrong with that Old Man?”

”Yeah, there’s a problem.”

”What kind of problem?”

”He’s not a good person.”

”You can tell?”

”Yes.”

”Should we tell Director Shen?”

”Without proof, how can we arrest him? These days, if you dare to arrest people on the street at will, even Old Shen would have to take responsibility. It’s not like it used to be.”

”That’s true,” Liu Jing nodded. ”How about I go test him? If that Old Man is truly not a good person, he will inevitably feel guilty if I tail him, and then there’s a chance he’ll slip up.”

Han Jingyang really wanted to nod, because that Old Man had several decent dharma instruments on him.

If that Old Man really was problematic, it would be killing two birds with one stone: eliminating a public menace while also gaining some loot.

Why not?

But he suppressed the urge and shook his head: ”No, that Old Man is very strong.”

”No matter how strong he is, can he be stronger than me?” Liu Jing proudly stroked the combat saber in her hand.

”He is indeed stronger than you, at least the Qi he cultivates is stronger than yours, and it’s a type of Qi I’ve never seen before. It’s very dangerous. Don’t provoke him. Let’s handle the Liu brothers’ matter first; don’t create complications.”

”Oh.”

Returning to the city.

The three of them politely declined the invitation from Yang Xin’s family and went to eat with Wang Zhiwei instead.

They ordered a big table of food. Wang Zhiwei, beaming, clinked his glass with Han Jingyang’s: ”Brother, thank you. You’ve once again helped me, Old Wang, save face in front of my friends. Of course, the most important thing is that the little girl was found. This is a deed of immense merit. Just wait, Yang Xin will definitely reward you heavily.”

Han Jingyang gently clinked glasses with Wang Zhiwei: ”I’m duty-bound to handle such matters. I’d be willing to do it even without payment because I hate these kinds of people the most. It’s only because the police were involved; otherwise, I would have crippled those two old bastards.”

”Didn’t you have dealings with them yesterday? Why didn’t you cripple them beforehand?”

”Fortunately, I didn’t take action. If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t have been able to provide more accurate information, and it wouldn’t have been possible to find the three girls so quickly.”

”Indeed, everything is fated.”

”It’s just fate; it’s not my doing.”

”No, brother, you are the key. Speaking of which, what magic did you use when you were looking for them? You were actually able to talk directly to that little girl, Yang Yujie? And, hearing you talk, you could even see what the little girl was seeing?”

”Something like that. But it wasn’t my credit; it was the special function of a dharma instrument.”

”Just that very rough-looking compass?”

”That’s not called a compass.”

”Well, it looks like one anyway. But I really didn’t expect that something you’d throw on the street and no one would want actually had such a magical function.”

”I didn’t expect it either, but treasures often hide their own brilliance. Come, come, let’s eat. I haven’t had a chance to eat anything tonight.”

”Alright.”

Although they were eating, Wang Zhiwei still heaped praise upon Han Jingyang.

He praised him so much that Han Jingyang felt a little embarrassed.

However, Han Jingyang really had helped Wang Zhiwei save a lot of face. In just the few days they had known each other, Wang Zhiwei had already asked Han Jingyang for help several times, and each time he successfully helped Wang Zhiwei’s friends solve their problems.

This is what face is.

After things were done, who wouldn’t praise Wang Zhiwei?

How do fame and reputation come about?

That’s exactly how they come about.

Accumulating bit by bit, spreading by word of mouth among friends. Over time, everyone knows that this person is reliable and someone you can associate with. Accumulating like this year after year, wouldn’t your network naturally become vast?

Wang Zhiwei’s friends weren’t there from the moment he was born, right?

So, people really shouldn’t complain about not having connections or whatever. If you don’t expand and accumulate them yourself, are you just waiting for a pie to fall from the sky?

Even if you can’t reach high-end connections for the time being, expanding connections of a similar level shouldn’t be a problem, right?

Even if you run a fast-food restaurant, if you get to know a few peers, you can find someone to help when your chef has an emergency.

Of course, after gaining a talented friend like Han Jingyang, the speed and efficiency of Wang Zhiwei’s network expansion would inevitably increase significantly.

As for Han Jingyang, he also benefited quite a bit, at least earning a lot of money from Wang Zhiwei and his friends.

After eating and drinking his fill, Wang Zhiwei answered a phone call. After hanging up, he said to Han Jingyang: ”Brother, Yang Xin called. He asked me how much money would be appropriate to give you.”

”What did you say?”

”I told him to ask you himself; I’m not getting involved in this,” Wang Zhiwei said with a chuckle. ”I’m actually curious how much you plan to charge him.”

Han Jingyang sighed: ”You’ve really stumped me.”

”Why?”

”Charging too much isn’t right, but charging too little makes my heart ache.”

”Is the cost very high?”

”Yeah, I ruined a quite rare dharma instrument, the wooden lump you said no one would pick up even if it were thrown on the side of the road.”

”Ruined?”

”It’s not completely destroyed, but its magical power is exhausted and it needs to recover slowly. It can’t be used again for the next two or three years.”

”This, this is indeed almost the same as being ruined. What a pity for that magical treasure. If you encounter this kind of situation again in the future, you’ll just be left staring helplessly. Your loss is huge then. What’s the cost?”
