The Feng Shui Treasure Appraiser

188: Chapter 188 Uncle Han”How much is the cost?”

”The cost is approximately zero.”

Han Jingyang chuckled inwardly, but his expression was conflicted: ”It’s really hard to calculate the cost of something like this. But roughly speaking, the cost is at least three million. A normal asking price would certainly start at five million, but looking at your friend’s situation, their family isn’t very wealthy.”

”Indeed. My friend is an ordinary person. Although they live a fairly comfortable life, asking them to come up with five million all at once is too difficult. Even selling their house wouldn’t be enough. The housing prices in their neighborhood are around ten thousand per unit, so selling it would only net about 1.1 or 1.2 million. Adding in their car and savings, it would be good if they could scrape together a little over two million.”

Han Jingyang spread his hands: ”So asking that question is meaningless. Fortunately, I didn’t intend to make money off him from the start. As long as the child is found, that’s enough. Hmm, Old Wang, just tell him this: money is just a gesture. Don’t sell the house under any circumstances. Even if they owe me, don’t sell the house. Forcing someone to sell their home isn’t my style; I can’t bear to do it.”

Wang Zhiwei gave him a thumbs up: ”Brother, you’re truly a stand-up guy. Alright, I’ll tell him to scrape together as much as he can, calculate it based on five million, and write an IOU for the rest.”

”Forget it, let’s just make it three million.”

”I’ll cover the remaining two million for him,” Wang Zhiwei said with heroic spirit.

Han Jingyang shook his head: ”What would be the point of that? No need to say more, let’s just settle on three million.”

Wang Zhiwei looked on with admiration: ”Brother, you truly have a chivalrous heart. In my life, I, Old Wang, have made many friends, but you and Old Xu are the most chivalrous of them all.”

”You’re not bad yourself. Although, hehe, you have a warm heart and friends all over the world. In ancient times, you would have been a figure like Lord Mengchang, while Old Xu and I would be the petty thieves under your wing.”

”Hahahaha, brother, you’re too humorous! Let’s drink, let’s drink. Tonight, we don’t stop until we’re drunk. Cheers!”

”Cheers.”

After eating and drinking their fill, everyone went home.

Han Jingyang didn’t go back to his own home but was instead dragged directly to her house by Shi Xiaoya.

Liu Jing had intended to return to her own home, but she was uneasy about Han Jingyang and Shi Xiaoya being alone in the same room, so she stayed behind under the pretext of worrying about Han Jingyang’s safety.

Shi Xiaoya didn’t react much; instead, she smiled and welcomed Sister Liu Jing to stay often.

With both women present, Han Jingyang could only go to sleep; he didn’t get any advantage at all.

The next morning, he received a call from Wang Zhiwei: ”Brother, come to the banquet. Yang Xin is hosting. There’s no one else, just his family, you, and me.”

”You didn’t invite Shen Yuhai?”

”Shen Yuhai wouldn’t look down on it, but his status is special; he certainly won’t come.”

”Yang Xin’s sister is an old classmate of Shen Yuhai’s.”

”That’s all the more reason for Shen Yuhai not to attend. Can’t they find a place to chat slowly if they have things to talk about?”

”Alright, give me the address. I’ll arrive at 11:30.”

11:40 AM. Yunshuiyao Restaurant. Han Jingyang arrived with Shi Xiaoya and Liu Jing.

At the entrance, Yang Xin’s family and Wang Zhiwei were already waiting.

As soon as the three of them walked over, Yang Xin’s family knelt down without a word.

Liu Jing and Shi Xiaoya were quick-eyed and nimble-handed; they rushed forward to stop them. The two of them understood Han Jingyang’s personality and knew he didn’t like such things, so they rushed out without waiting for Han Jingyang’s order.

Han Jingyang waited until Shi Xiaoya and Liu Jing helped the family of three up before saying: ”No need to be so polite. I was just doing a job for money, and besides, you are friends of Old Wang. We can talk about anything. Let’s go in.”

Yang Xin was very emotional: ”Thank you, Mr. Han. Thank you so very much. If it weren’t for you, I… I wouldn’t even dare to imagine.”

As he spoke, he patted his daughter on the shoulder: ”Yujie, this is your Uncle Han, Han Jingyang.”

Yang Yujie, this little girl, was indeed beautiful. At only thirteen, she was already about 1.65 meters tall, long-legged, fair-skinned, and with well-defined features. Her large eyes were especially beautiful. With her hair in pigtails, she looked like a budding beauty no matter how you looked at her.

It’s no wonder she was targeted by those two bastards, Liu Ming and Huo Qian. She certainly fits the twisted aesthetic of certain animals.

The little girl called out crisply: ”Uncle Han,” and then blinked her big eyes: ”Uncle Han, thank you for saving me.”

After speaking, she bowed. Han Jingyang did not refuse the bow; he waited for the little girl to stand up before patting her shoulder and offering a few words of comfort.

Entering the room, Yang Xin enthusiastically invited Han Jingyang to order the dishes.

Beside them, Wang Zhiwei also smiled: ”Brother, don’t be polite with him. He can afford a meal. Pick the good and expensive ones, otherwise, he won’t feel right in his own heart.”

Although he said that, Han Jingyang still held back. He didn’t order the most expensive ones but instead chose two mid-to-high-end dishes.

Although he was the guest of honor today, when it comes to ordering, the most expensive dishes should be left for the host to order. Otherwise, it would be too impolite, no matter how willing Yang Xin might be.

Yunshuiyao is a fairly famous restaurant in Quancheng with a good reputation and high status. Of course, it’s also expensive and often requires booking a week in advance. The fact that Yang Xin was able to book a table here suggests he likely pulled some strings, showing he truly put in the effort.

When it comes to treating someone to a meal, it’s really about the attitude. Neither Han Jingyang nor Wang Zhiwei was lacking for a meal; they could afford and had eaten even more expensive and better food. Having a meal at a hotpot restaurant wouldn’t be a problem, and in fact, eating hotpot might even be more comfortable. However, when treating a guest, you absolutely cannot just treat them to hotpot.

Oh, I helped you such a big favor, and you’re brushing me off with a hotpot meal? Unless the relationship is very good—like between Wang Zhiwei, Xu Xin, and Han Jingyang—where eating hotpot or skewers is fine, or even grabbing breakfast together early in the morning.

Anyway, when it comes to interpersonal relationships, you live and learn. You have to interact with different people every moment. The ways of interacting, the distance, and the attitudes are all different. How to accurately and appropriately grasp that scale is a great art.

The meal ended with both host and guests happy. After the meal, the others tactfully left first. Yang Xin then took out a black briefcase and placed it in front of Han Jingyang: ”Mr. Han, here is exactly one million. I will write you an IOU for the rest, and once I sell the house, I will give you the money.”

Han Jingyang shook his head: ”Don’t sell the house. I already told Old Wang about this. Money is something that can be earned slowly. Whenever you have enough saved up, give it to me. There’s no rush.”

”How can that be…”

”If I say it’s fine, it’s fine,” Han Jingyang patted the briefcase: ”It’s just that the cost of that dharma instrument was too high, otherwise one million would have been enough.”

”In that case,” Yang Xin gritted his teeth: ”Mr. Han, my father-in-law’s family has a few old items. I heard from Old Wang that you like them. How about you take a look to see if they are valuable?”

”Your father-in-law’s?”

”Yes, but I have discussed it with my wife and my father-in-law’s family, and they have no objections.”

”That works.”

”Thank you for your magnanimity, Mr. Han,” Yang Xin thanked him again and only said goodbye after exchanging contact information with Han Jingyang.

Outside, Wang Zhiwei laughed: ”Brother, I see you have a very good attitude toward this family.”

”Do I?”

”Yes, very obviously. You’re very tolerant, easy to talk to, and your attitude is quite humble, unlike when we first met.”

Han Jingyang smiled: ”Because this family is made up of good people.”

Wang Zhiwei’s eyes lit up: ”Not just good people, but also promising, right?”
