Chapter 1043: Chapter 1042 Dragon Slaying Conference

Hearing Lin Dong call her silly, Gong Yanwu’s face flushed red, and she muttered softly under her breath.

”I’m not silly at all.”

Lin Dong glanced at her, shook his head, and found it somewhat amusing.

However, he didn’t pay her any more attention and continued to look at Gong Fan, saying,

”Just now, you were willing to sacrifice yourself for your sister’s benefit. That made me see you in a new light; I thought you had betrayed the Gong Clan and were a heartless and faithless person.”

”Unexpectedly, that’s not the case. You’re willing to sacrifice yourself for your sister, which makes you a person of true sentiment.”

”You have the qualifications to be my subordinate!”

”Remember, a subordinate, not the ’dog’ you mentioned!”

Gong Fan clenched his fists and nodded heavily, ”Yes!”

”Tell me about the other objectives of this conference,” Lin Dong said.

He believed that Gong Fan’s conference was not solely for the purpose of covertly rallying him; there must be other motives.

Gong Fan nodded, ”Master Lin, this Gong Family Conference is actually at the behest of the Ancestor of the Gong Clan.”

”They’re calling it the ’Dragon Slaying Conference!’ Nowadays, everyone says you’re a Real Dragon. Barely over twenty, and you’re already capable of slaying Earth Realm martial artists. Such is the qualification of a Real Dragon!”

”Whereas the Ancestor of the Gong Clan has proclaimed his intention to slaughter you, the ’Real Dragon.’ He has had us invite powerful forces and celebrities of Demon City to sign a ’Dragon Slaying Order.’ At the Conference, an elder of the Gong Clan will call to arms in the name of the Ancestor.”

”Anyone who signs the Dragon Slaying Order signifies an alliance with the Gong Clan. Allies will be treated generously by the clan.”

”On the other hand, those who refuse to sign will be marked as enemies of the Gong Clan and will face our cleansing afterwards. The Ancestor of the Gong Clan wants to use this to establish authority for the clan!”

Lin Dong nodded after hearing this.

Indeed, it was a way to assert authority.

And such Noble Families of the Martial World certainly needed that.

The dignity of a Martial World Family like the Gong’s should not be challenged; previously, by slaying Gong Wu of the Gong Clan, Lin Dong had damaged their honor.

Since then, the other forces in Demon City had been less respectful towards the Gong Clan during this time.

In business, the Gong Clan could no longer be as aggressive as before.

If the Ancestor’s plan succeeded, then for decades, no one would dare provoke the Gong Clan again!

”The Ancestor of the Gong Clan even specifically instructed me to do one thing... Master Lin, please don’t be angry after I say it.”

Lin Dong frowned with curiosity and asked, ”What is it?”

”The Ancestor asked me to prepare a coffin for you, then to reveal it during the Dragon Slaying Conference... saying that doing so would disgust you.” Gong Fan observed Lin Dong’s facial expressions carefully as he said this.

He noticed that Lin Dong’s expression hadn’t really changed much.

Continuing, he said, ”Master Lin, I have made the coffin. However, I made it to the dimensions of the Gong Clan’s Ancestor.”

”Actually, this is something I secretly prepared for him!”

Lin Dong smiled, then shook his head and said, ”I originally thought someone like the Ancestor of the Gong Clan, having lived for over a hundred years...”

”As one of the faces of the Dragon Country’s Martial Arts World, one of the Five Elders of Martial Arbitration, would certainly possess an extraordinary demeanor. Who would have thought he would be so trivial.”

”It seems that, having been High Above for so many years, he has long forgotten the original intention of his Martial Way cultivation.”

”And he has lost the demeanor of a Master that he once had...”

Although Lin Dong was talking about the Ancestor of the Gong Clan, he was also warning himself deep inside not to become like that in the future.

Never forget the original intention of Martial Arts cultivation!

”During the Dragon Slaying Conference, I will be observing from behind. Make a note of everyone who signs the Dragon Slaying Order, and when the time comes, we’ll settle accounts after the harvest!”

”I want them to know that there is a price to pay for slaying a dragon!”

”Yes!” Gong Fan bowed respectfully and responded emphatically.

Afterward, Gong Fan hurried to tidy himself up a bit, pulling his cloak and hat back on properly.

He then left with his younger sister.

After they had gone and some time had passed, Lin Dong finally headed for the venue.

The reason the Gong Clan held their so-called Dragon Slaying Conference at the Demon City Grand Hotel was also to spite Lin Dong.

They knew that the Grand Hotel was backed by Master Lin, and by holding the Dragon Slaying Conference there, it was sure to reach the ears of Master Lin.

This was the result they wanted!

Of course, the ancestor of the Gong Clan and those elders from the Gong Family would not know that Gong Fan had already betrayed them.

They also wouldn’t know that Lin Dong had changed his face through disguise and secretly entered the venue, standing at the very back to watch everything that was happening.

He didn’t go over to Li Qingcheng and Liu Chuanqi.

Li Qingcheng and Liu Chuanqi, by now, could be recognized by everyone in Demon City. Especially Li Qingcheng, who had regained some vitality lately thanks to the ’Beautifying Powder’.

By now, everyone knew she was backed by Master Lin.

If Lin Dong stood beside Li Qingcheng, he would quickly be recognized.

He did not do that.

At the moment, the venue was already filled with people, several hundreds of them.

These were the celebrities of Demon City’s upper circle.

There were nobles, rich businessmen, wushu experts, martial artist clans...

Lin Dong even saw some familiar figures.

For example, Han Qianshan from the Han Family, the king of Demon City’s entertainment Wu Ming, He Sihai, and others.

And there was Wu Yanran from the Wu Family.

Zhao Xilai, the younger brother of Zhao Donglai from the Zhao Family...

Of course, most of them were people he did not recognize.

Besides the local big shots of Demon City, there were also other big shots from out of town.

For instance, Li Yuanyang from the Southwest also came with his wife.

These people were invited for the occasion, temporarily unaware of what the Gong Family was planning.

Soon, the First Elder of the Gong Clan stepped forward.

This First Elder of the Gong Clan, being the strongest in the Gong Family next to the ancestor, caused quite a few people to gasp in amazement the moment he made his appearance.

”That is the First Elder of the Gong Clan, he’s actually presiding over this meeting himself.”

”Rumor has it the First Elder of the Gong Clan is over ninety years old, and appears to be an Earth Realm martial artist.”

”The last time he made a move was twenty years ago. To think that today, he would personally show up. This meeting must be extraordinary!”

”...”

The First Elder of the Gong Clan, with a head full of silver hair, a hunched back, appeared aged and decrepit like someone with one foot in the coffin.

Lin Dong probed his breath and discovered that he was indeed an Earth Realm martial artist.

However, it seemed like this Earth Realm martial artist had forced a breakthrough.

Those who rely on forced breakthroughs to reach the Earth Realm typically could only condense a Fake Gold-Pill and would no longer make any progress.

Nor could they battle with a true Earth Realm martial artist.

But even a Fake Gold-Pill, after all, signified an Earth Realm martial artist, and his strength was clearly not something non-Earth Realm martial artists could compare to.

At this time, he stood with his hands behind him and said aloud,

”Today the Gong Family has convened everyone here for an assembly.”

”This meeting is called the Dragon Slaying Conference!”

”The dragon in question, who it is, I trust needs no clarification? It is none other than Master Lin!”

”Many say Master Lin is a Real Dragon. In my opinion, that’s complete nonsense! He’s not any Real Dragon but an Evil Dragon. Tomorrow, our ancestor of the Gong Clan will act on behalf of heaven and slay that Evil Dragon!”

After finishing these sentences, he clapped his hands.

He had someone bring out a several meters long scroll of silk, and then said,

”This is the Dragon Slaying Order crafted by our Gong Family. Those who sign this Order today will henceforth be friends of the Gong Family, and in the future, our Gong Family will treat them very generously.”

”Of course, you may choose not to sign. However, if you don’t sign this Dragon Slaying Order, then you will stand against our Gong Family.”

”Consider well what might happen after the dragon is slain!”

Whoosh!

This move by the Gong Family caused the expressions of everyone present to drastically change.

For a while, the venue buzzed with commotion.
