Chapter 1023: Chapter 1022: I am the Grandson of the Proxy War God

The next day was the day the Demon City War Department held the Regent War God Promotion Ceremony.

Lin Dong got up early, though the Regent War God ceremony was to start at nine, as the newly-appointed War God, he still needed to arrive a bit early.

At seven o’clock, as Lin Dong was about to leave, he received a call from Tang Han and Gu Lingfei.

”Brother Dongzi, where are you? We’re coming to pick you up and take you to the War Department!” Tang Han said.

The two of them did not dare to let Lin Dong go alone; they felt they must accompany him.

They feared Lin Dong might say the wrong thing or be targeted by Zhao Kuo, the grandson of Zhao Feiying.

Only then did Lin Dong remember the arrangement he had made with them.

So he nodded and said, ”Okay, come and pick me up. I’m in the Tang Chen first-grade house, you’ve been here before.”

”Alright, we’ll be right there.”

About twenty minutes later, Tang Jun arrived driving a War Department’s car, bringing Gu Lingfei and Tang Han with him.

Knowing that Lin Dong was also going to attend the Regent War God’s promotion ceremony, Tang Jun was very excited and came personally to drive.

”Brother Dongzi, you’re too amazing. The Body Refining Method you gave me yesterday, I went to practice it as soon as I got back. The effect was so great, just one day’s time and I feel my strength has increased a lot.”

”If I continue to train, I’m confident I could join our Demon City’s elite squad, ’Fei Ying Special Forces’.”

In the Demon City War Department, there are three elite teams.

They are the ’Qilin Special Forces’ created by the previous Qilin War God, the ’Fei Ying Special Forces’ established by General Zhao Feiying, and the slightly weaker ’Wild Wolf Special Forces’.

The Qilin Special Forces, Tang Jun did not even dare to dream of.

He set his sights on the Fei Ying Special Forces.

Gu Lingfei and Tang Han did not know what Lin Dong gave Tang Jun that made him so grateful.

But none of that mattered now, the most exciting thing was the upcoming Regent War God Promotion Ceremony they were about to attend.

”Brother Dongzi, hurry up and get in the car, let’s go.” Tang Han urged.

Lin Dong nodded his head; he didn’t sit in the back seat next to Gu Lingfei and Tang Han but chose the co-pilot seat instead.

After getting into the car, he turned to Tang Jun and said:

”Train hard, maybe in five or six years, you’ll have a chance to enter the Dragon Group!”

”Dragon Group?” Hearing these two words, Tang Jun was stunned, then shook his head like a rattle.

The Qilin Special Forces were already out of his reach, not to mention the Elite Dragon Group of Dragon Country.

He knew the new Dragon Group recently formed by the Dragon King War God consisted of the elite of the elites from all over.

Tang Jun, just a common soldier with no Martial Way talent, dared not even dream of joining the Dragon Tribe in his lifetime.

”Brother Dongzi, you’re really joking too big.” Tang Jun started the car and drove off, smiling wryly.

”Brother Dongzi, you’ve been too fond of joking these past two days. Hahaha, brother, Brother Dongzi even said he was the Regent War God before,” laughed Tang Han.

Tang Jun couldn’t help but chuckle as well, ”Since Brother Dongzi has called himself the Regent War God, I might as well brag too—I’ll join the Dragon Group in the future. Hahaha...”

Lin Dong laughingly said, ”Maybe I really am the Regent War God.”

Clearly none of them believed it; it was simply too much of a pipe’s dream.

Even more unlikely than Tang Jun joining the Dragon Group.

What was the position of a War Department War God? Lin Dong had never even joined the War Department before, had never been a soldier before, how could he possibly serve as a Regent War God?

Lin Dong did not bother to offer an explanation and merely smiled without saying anything more.

The car had been driving for about twenty minutes when it arrived at the War Department.

Since Tang Jun was driving a war vehicle from the War Department, and all of them had passes and admission tickets, entry went smoothly.

After parking the car, the group got out and headed towards the central square where the Demon City soldiers usually trained.

Today, the Regent War God was taking office, and several hundreds of thousands of Demon City soldiers would participate in an unprecedented drill.

The Regent War God would be appointing the officers!

All the Divine Generals affiliated with the Demon City War Department were required to be present that day.

They would lead their respective soldiers to accept the Regent War God’s appointment.

As for the family members of the War Department like Tang Han and Gu Lingfei, guests, and some soldiers and Divine Generals from other regions, they could watch from the sidelines.

At the moment, Tang Han’s face was filled with excitement. Although she was the daughter of General Tang Zhanshan and had always yearned for military life, this was her first time witnessing such a scene.

”Oh My God, there are so many handsome guys. Surely, all the handsome ones have been conscripted by the country,” Tang Han said, drooling as she looked at the impeccably standing soldiers around her.

Upon seeing this, Gu Lingfei couldn’t help but look down upon her:

”The most handsome one is right beside you, can’t you see?”

Tang Han knew Gu Lingfei was referring to Lin Dong.

Tang Han rolled her eyes at Gu Lingfei, ”Sister Lingfei, even if Brother Dongzi is handsome, he’s not mine anyway. I have enough self-awareness to know that.”

”Sister Lingfei, you go for it.”

She made a supportive fist at Gu Lingfei.

Gu Lingfei blushed and muttered, ”He’s not mine either; we just have a teacher-student relationship.”

As the two were talking, suddenly, a voice rang out.

”Lingfei, Tang Han, Tang Jun, you guys really came. How come you didn’t come with me to my grandpa’s Regent War God Promotion Ceremony?”

Following that voice, a familiar figure approached from afar.

It was Zhao Feiying’s grandson, Zhao Kuo.

Zhao Kuo had not noticed Lin Dong at the start. It was only after he approached that he saw Lin Dong.

Immediately, he focused his gaze on Lin Dong and frowned, ”What are you doing here?”

After speaking, he looked discontentedly at Tang Han and Gu Lingfei, ”Why did you bring him along?”

”My grandpa’s Regent War God Promotion Ceremony is not something just any cat or dog can attend.”

Gu Lingfei and Tang Han both clenched their fists; Zhao Kuo was indeed targeting Lin Dong.

However, they did not know what to say since, after all, today’s promotion ceremony rightfuly placed the Zhao family in the spotlight.

Although not yet officially announced, everyone unanimously believed that Zhao Feiying would be the Regent War God.

”Your grandpa?” Lin Dong’s face showed a weird expression as he said, ”Don’t go around claiming people as your grandpa willy-nilly.”

Zhao Kuo angrily said, ”The Regent War God is indeed my grandpa. Why would I need to falsely claim that?”

Lin Dong was speechless, not quite knowing how to respond.

Tang Jun intervened from the side to speak up for Lin Dong.

”Zhao Kuo, don’t go too far. Your grandpa isn’t officially the Regent War God yet, so don’t be too arrogant.”

”Moreover, even if your grandpa does become the Regent War God, you don’t have the right to kick Brother Dongzi out. He has an admission ticket and complies with the rules for entry!”

Zhao Kuo snorted coldly, ”Tang Jun, you and your sister really don’t know what’s good for you. What, are you going to make an enemy of me, the grandson of the Regent War God, just for his sake?”
