Chapter 1006: Chapter 1005: Brothers Fall Out

Yan Qing’s face turned iron blue, and he said with a sneer:

”My position as War God was acquired step by step, through risking my life and making meritorious deeds.”

”Hahahaha...” But upon hearing this, Yan Yu laughed even more wildly with mockery: ”Yan Qing, do you really think I don’t know about the drawing lots back then?”

”Back then, our Yan Family fell from grace. It was decided that one among us would be chosen to join the War Department.”

”Then, we would pour all of the Yan Family’s resources into cultivating that person who joined the War Department. Let him quickly advance in the Martial Way, make contributions in the War Department, and establish a career for himself, thereby restoring the glory of our Yan Family!”

”When we drew lots, you made the lots. There were two strips of paper, you told me, one was blank and the other had the character for ’war’ written on it. The one who drew the paper with the character for ’war’ would get to join the War Department. From then on, all our Yan Family’s resources would be used to cultivate him.”

”You let me draw first! Mine was the one with nothing written on it.”

”Thus, you said since I drew the blank one, yours must be the one with the character for ’war.’ So, you got the opportunity to join the War Department, got all the Yan Family’s resources...”

”But do you really think I didn’t find out? I went through the Trash Bin afterward. I put together all those torn pieces of paper.”

”Both strips of paper were blank!!!”

”So no matter which one I drew, it would have been blank!”

”Do you know what it felt like, for me, only seven years old at the time, when I pieced together those scraps and saw that both strips of paper were blank?”

”At that moment, do you know how deeply grieved I was? The pain came not from losing the chance to join the War Department, but from your deception!!!”

”My only remaining relative, my dearest brother, deceived me just to join the War Department!!!”

At this point, tears welled up in Yan Yu’s eyes.

And Yan Qing remained silent.

The incident was indeed as Yan Yu had described.

At the time, he desperately wanted to join the War Department; he desperately wanted to become the War God.

He desperately wanted to restore the glory of their Yan Family.

So he chose selfishness; he chose deception.

And after he joined the War Department, he always felt guilty toward Yan Yu because of this incident; he used this as motivation to tirelessly cultivate, seizing any opportunity to achieve merits.

At the same time, even though Yan Yu did many things considered wrong, he still protected his younger brother. On one hand, it was out of genuine love for him, and on the other hand, out of guilt for that incident.

”For that incident, I indeed owe you an apology!” Yan Qing said, lowering his head.

”Apology? I don’t need your apology! If you wanted to join the War Department, fine, I would have let you have it!”

”Isn’t it just a spot in the War Department? I don’t care about it! After all, you’re my brother, the only relative I, Yan Yu, have in this world. Even though you deceived me, I would still have helped you!”

”Do you really think, with those little resources from our Yan Family, you could become a War God, an Earth Realm martial artist in your thirties?”

”Do you really think that each time you made meritorious achievements on the battlefield and narrowly escaped death, it was due to your luck?”

”Do you really think that often, when you’re about to get promoted, your rivals have accidents by chance?”

”Yan Yu, what do you mean?” Yan Qing asked, suddenly looking up again, staring intently at Yan Yu.

He found his younger brother too strange.

So strange that it seemed he had never known him at all.

”Hahahaha... What do I mean? It means you’ve been in my debt your entire life!”

”I don’t want your apology, I want your guilt. I want you, when you go to the Underworld and meet our parents, to not even dare to raise your head.”

”Over these years, you’ve completely consumed the Yan Family’s resources. Many years ago, there were no more resources left in the Yan Family. The reason you could advance to an Earth Realm martial artist today, is all thanks to the resources I got by doing those shameful acts, the very acts of treason you spoke of.”

”The resources you absorbed, those elixirs, those medicinal materials, were all obtained through my treason. Without these resources I obtained through treason, would you even dream of making a breakthrough to become an Earth Realm martial artist?”

Yan Qing’s face was iron blue, and he muttered: ”Yan Yu... you... you’re crazy...”

”Hahaha...” Yan Yu laughed hysterically, seemingly truly insane.

At that moment, his face was contorted to the extreme, as he continued:

”Also, you think your meritorious achievements every time were that smooth? It was all because of the powerful forces I established through treason that secretly assisted you. Otherwise, you would’ve died long ago!!!”

”Furthermore, your road to promotion. Haven’t you noticed that whenever you were about to get promoted, your competitors either died mysteriously, fell into a coma, or lost their Inner Qi? That was all done by people I directed in secret...”

”Hahahaha...”

”You wanted to be the War God, didn’t you? I let you be it!”

”You know how to deceive me, don’t you? Well, I deceived you too! Your so-called War God was only achieved through the disgraceful Skills I provided!”

”Yan Qing, not only do I want you to be unfilial, unable to face our parents after death, but I also want you to be disloyal! To let you know, your so-called War God was only achieved with the help of my disgraceful deeds!”

”You’ve gone mad, you’ve damn gone mad!!!” Yan Qing also went crazy at that moment.

He never imagined that his brother had been secretly committing such disloyal and unrighteous acts.

Nor had he expected that his status as War God was obtained through his brother’s actions.

His faith nearly collapsed at that moment.

”I... I want to slaughter you, I want to slaughter you!!!!” Yan Qing roared, and struck out at Yan Yu with a punch.

But Yan Yu just kept laughing.

He didn’t even seem to want to try to escape.

He closed his eyes, murmuring:

”Kill me then, kill me. Hahaha, I’ve long stopped wanting to live anyway.”

”And with my death, everything is settled. But you, living on, will be trapped in eternal pain. You are more pitiful than me, much more pitiful...”
