Chapter 1014: Chapter 1013: Zhao Feiying

After arriving at the War Department, Lin Dong met the Azure Dragon Messenger, as well as some of the former subordinates under the command of the War God Yan Qing.

These generals had been witnesses to War God Yan Qing’s resignation.

At the same time, they were also aware that the position of Proxy War God would be assumed by Lin Dong.

At the moment, everyone had been gathered by the Azure Dragon Messenger mainly to discuss another matter.

”Master Lin, in two days, the Letter of Appointment will be sent to the Demon City War Department. As per tradition, even though it’s just a proxy, there still needs to be a corresponding Inauguration Ceremony for the War God,”

”Master Lin, you must attend!”

Lin Dong nodded, smile wryly and said, ”Why do I feel like I’ve been set up, ah? The Dragon King War God said I didn’t need to worry about things. Now why doesn’t it seem to be the case?”

He found there was quite a lot to deal with.

The Azure Dragon Messenger and the others chuckled.

”Master Lin, it’s only a bit busy when taking office. After a while, you won’t have to worry anymore,” said the Azure Dragon Messenger and the others.

Lin Dong nodded, ”Hope so, ah.”

”There’s also another matter, Master Lin, which might be a bit troublesome.” The Overlord God General suddenly spoke up at this point.

Lin Dong asked, ”What is it?”

”It concerns General Zhao Feiying. General Zhao Feiying is the strongest person in the Demon City War Department aside from War God Yan Qing. He is also the most respected and regarded among all the generals of the Demon City War Department.”

”He could have contended with War God Yan Qing for the position of victor last time, but because he was just one step short of breaking through to the Earth Realm as a martial artist, he was defeated by War God Yan Qing.”

”Now that War God Yan Qing has resigned, logically, the person most qualified to be the Proxy War God should be him. Yet now, you’ve taken his place. I fear he might not acknowledge you.”

This concern was shared by the Azure Dragon Messenger.

Even the Azure Dragon Messenger felt some apprehension when facing Zhao Feiying.

Zhao Feiying’s strength was not weaker than that of the Azure Dragon Messenger.

Moreover, if we talk about the time served as a soldier in the War Department, Zhao Feiying has been there even longer than the Azure Dragon Messenger.

The Azure Dragon Messenger joined the War Department at eighteen and has been there for twenty years now.

However, Zhao Feiying joined the War Department at sixteen. Now, he has been there for a direct fifty years.

That’s right, Zhao Feiying is sixty-six this year, having dedicated fifty years of his life to the War Department. This includes his adolescent years, his youth, his middle-age, and his senior years.

Dedicating his entire life to the War Department, such a soldier’s reputation within the War Department naturally doesn’t need to be mentioned. Let alone Lin Dong, even the Azure Dragon Messenger can’t compare.

Hearing this, Lin Dong couldn’t help but roll his eyes, ”If there’s such a suitable person for the position of Proxy War God in the Demon City War Department, then why bother making me take up the position?”

”If he wants it, okay, then I’ll just directly give it to him.”

The Azure Dragon Messenger: ”...”

The Overlord God General: ”...”

The other Divine Generals: ”...”

Everyone fell silent.

That was the Proxy War God. Was this Master Lin truly so disdainful?

Talking about giving it up just like that?

They were all speechless for a while, but then the Azure Dragon Messenger broke the silence, saying:

”Master Lin, your position as Proxy War God has already been settled. The Letter of Appointment has been issued, and the Capital City’s War Ministry at the Base of War Department of Dragon Country has already inscribed your name in the Hall of War God. If you talk about giving up this position now, isn’t that just a joke?”

The others also began to speak up.

”Master Lin, you shouldn’t give it up.”

”You can’t just have your way.”

”What we mean is, if Zhao Feiying doesn’t accept this, then you should make him acknowledge you. I believe that as long as you demonstrate your strength, General Zhao Feiying will be convinced by you.”

”General Zhao Feiying also speaks with strength.”

”...”

What everyone meant when they referred to Zhao Feiying was exactly this.

It was not that they wanted Lin Dong to give up the position of Proxy War God.

The Base of War Department of Dragon Country had decided on the matter, and they had to support it.

Besides, Master Lin’s martial arts talent was evident. Although he lacked the military merits of the War department, his joining the Demon City War Department was definitely a great benefit to them.

Lin Dong, listening to everyone’s discussion, complained:

”I knew it, I was tricked by that old fox, the Dragon King War God.”

”Becoming a War God, it’s not that simple. Even being an acting War God is troublesome.”

”Cough cough...” The Divine Generals coughed dryly, not knowing what to say.

In the War Department, it was only Lin Dong who dared to call the Dragon King War God an old fox.

Just then, a hubbub was heard from outside.

”I heard our acting War God has arrived at the War Department. What’s going on? Why are you stopping me, a Divine General, from paying him a visit?”

A booming voice sounded from outside.

Though the voice had a trace of age, it resonated like a large bell, deafening to hear.

At the sound of this voice, the faces of the Divine Generals changed slightly.

The Azure Dragon Messenger also sighed and said, ”Speak of Cao Cao, and Cao Cao appears.”

The newcomer was Zhao Feiying, the Divine General they had just discussed—General Zhao Feiying!

”Is General Zhao Feiying here to pick a fight? What do we do now?” A three-star Divine General couldn’t help but chuckle bitterly.

All eyes turned towards Lin Dong.

Lin Dong, seeing them all looking at him, couldn’t help but roll his eyes:

”What are you all looking at me for? And why are you stopping him? Let him in.”

No sooner had Lin Dong spoken than the Overlord God General coughed and stood up, going outside to greet Zhao Feiying personally.

Soon, he brought in an old Divine General, nearly two meters tall, wearing battered armor, and draped in a graying cloak.

The old Divine General had graying hair and a face as resolute as a hawk, standing as immovable as a mountain.

”General Zhao Feiying, please have a seat,” urged Lin Dong as he walked over and enthusiastically took Zhao Feiying’s hand.

Zhao Feiying stared intently at Lin Dong and asked, ”You are Master Lin?”

”What Master Lin? That’s just nonsense others spout. Just call me Xiao Dong.” Lin Dong quickly replied:

”General Zhao Feiying, let’s hurry and discuss. We should call together all the Divine Generals of the Demon City War Department and write to the Capital City’s War Ministry, to the War God of the Nation and the Dragon King War God.”

”Ask them to take back this Letter of Appointment for the acting War God. I truly don’t think I’m qualified. You, General Zhao Feiying, are fit for the role; it’s an injustice if you aren’t appointed as the acting War God.”

The other Divine Generals: ”...”

They were speechless. Did this Master Lin really not want to be the acting War God that much?

Lin Dong continued, ”What are you all standing around for? Let’s all write that letter. Whoever doesn’t write, whoever doesn’t support General Zhao Feiying as the acting War God, I’ll be upset with them!!”

Divine Generals: ”...”

They looked at each other, not sure what to do.

Should they just give in to Master Lin?

Actually, nominating Zhao Feiying as the acting War God wasn’t such a bad idea.

But just at that moment, Zhao Feiying shouted, ”No, don’t write the letter. Whoever writes it, I’ll get angry with them!”

He hurriedly said, ”Master Lin, you’ve misunderstood. You don’t think I’ve come here because I can’t accept you as the acting War God, do you?”

”You’d be very wrong. I’m quite convinced. I’m eager for you to be the acting War God.”

”I’ve heard about you. Only twenty-one years old and you can slaughter Earth Realm martial artists. With that martial arts strength, that talent, even that Yan Qing lad can’t compare to you.”

”With such a genius joining our Demon City War Department, becoming the acting War God, and fortifying our Demon City War Department, how could I, Zhao Feiying, possibly object?”

”Master Lin, if you refuse to be the acting War God and insist on delaying it, I, Zhao Feiying, would be the first to kneel and beg you... It’s my duty to kowtow to keep an acting War God like you at the War Department of Dragon Country.”

With that, he was actually about to bow with the intention of kneeling.

This completely flustered Lin Dong...
