Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 732: The Self-Cycling Small World Inside the World Fragment

After a round of explanation, I was clear about what I was facing.

So, finally, Academy Head Mei took out the World Fragment.

And its form far exceeded my expectation.

It was a giant mechanical facility, much taller than I was, covered with densely flowing runes.

Just trying to understand it briefly, one could feel a captivating aura of a seal.

It generally presented a spherical shape, with a flexible structure encasing a glowing body inside, constantly and regularly changing its form.

”This is the method the Wizards use to seal World Fragments. After all, it’s a World Fragment. The fact that it can be sealed and compressed to this extent shows that their Sorcery has some ability. The outer layer is a World Fragment Sealing Sorcery Tool. I heard that this thing alone is priceless among the Transcendent Wizards.”

Academy Head Mei placed this massive item, which she had taken out, in front of everyone and explained what this thing was.

”A Sorcery Tool… But if it’s a Sorcery Tool, we can’t use it at all, right…”

I said.

After all, earlier, I had snatched the Destiny Sorcery Tool from that group of Wizards and fiddled with it for a long time only to find that I truly couldn’t use it.

Moreover, initially, I was stubborn and simulated the power model of Sorcery Power and the leverage of Mental Power to move the Transcendent, but it was all useless.

After trying for a long time, I realized that Sorcery Tools are not unusable by non-Wizards; rather, they are unusable by anyone except the Wizards who know how to use them.

Even among Wizards, Sorcery Tools seemed to be non-interoperable.

It was like a technological product secured with a password lock, fingerprint lock, voice-activated lock, and other authentications.

Without the corresponding Mental Power amplitude and Sorcery Power fluctuation to confirm the usage permission, it simply cannot be used.

Furthermore, some Sorcery Tools require corresponding knowledge reserves to be used.

After all, Wizards are terrifying existences who leverage knowledge to move the Transcendent.

Their wisdom is the reliance for their continuous advancement on the Transcendent path.

”Haven’t you had exposure to Sorcery Tools, Xiao Han? Open-access Sorcery Tools can be used even by ordinary people, but generally, Sorcery Tools are not designed this way, unless it’s a commodity intended for exchange. But even after selling it, Wizards will still add usage restrictions to it. This is already a basic operation for Wizards.”

Academy Head Mei explained to me, then reached out and pressed the Sealing Sorcery Tool.

Immediately, the Sorcery Tool seemed to be activated.

The regularly operating sealing structure and Sorcery Runes flowed rapidly.

After a moment of change, these outer sealing frameworks constructed a shape that could barely be called a ”gate,” about the size for one person to pass through.

”Do you want to go in and see this private small world that will only belong to you from now on?”

Academy Head Mei asked with a smile.

”I can go in now?”

”Of course. Entering a World Fragment is not very difficult.”

”Then… let’s go in and take a look.”

I also nodded, agreeing to the suggestion.

”Xiao Han can I join you? I want to go in and see too.”

”Count me in.”

”What about me? Take me along!”

As the gate of this World Fragment opened, the Witch Sisters who were still lingering here also spoke up curiously, just as I was about to enter.

”Are you all not embarrassed? Haven’t you seen a World Fragment before? Are you like Xiao Han?”

Academy Head Mei looked at the few who were shouting the loudest, saying somewhat helplessly.

”Eh? Academy Head, you must be joking. The Witch race is the one not short on World Fragments. What does that have to do with me, a poor Witch? My savings aren’t enough to buy one to play with.”

”We just want to satisfy our curiosity! Xiao Han… Xiao Han, you wouldn’t mind… would you?”

”Uh… actually… it’s not impossible…”

I said from the side.

It was only for a visit.

”Xiao Han, let me teach you one more thing now.”

Academy Head Mei saw that I agreed so quickly, but she didn’t let these Witches off the hook.

”Whether it’s a World Fragment, a sealed World Fragment, or a World Fragment refined into a Dungeon World, they are all very fragile… Xiao Han, World Fragments should not be casually shown to people.”

”Uh… oh…”

I nodded, though I still didn’t know why.

Was there an upper limit to the carrying capacity?

Or was there an upper limit to the number of Transcendent beings it could carry, like the Main World?

”You must be curious why, right?”

At this moment, Academy Head Mei asked the question I truly wanted to know.

”Mhm, why?”

I asked at the opportune moment.

”Have you considered what would happen if the person or Witch who enters your World Fragment leaves a Teleportation Marker or a positioning coordinate? A thief would appear in your World Fragment who could enter it as easily as coming home. Even if it is refined into a Dungeon World, if the opponent acquires the World Fragment’s coordinates and violently breaks in, it will also damage your Dungeon World itself, do you understand?”

”No, Big Sis Mei, you can doubt my conduct, but don’t doubt my character! Would I do such a thing!”

At this moment, the few Witches on the side immediately protested.

”Big Sis Mei, you know me! I would never do such a thing!”

”Big Sis Mei. I just want to see what the inside of a World Fragment I can’t afford looks like.”

”How about I sign a Witch’s Contract?”

”I am merely using you all as educational material for Xiao Han,” Academy Head Mei said indifferently.

”With me accompanying Xiao Han inside, you won’t have the opportunity to leave a Spatial Marker.”

After being lectured by Academy Head Mei like this, the Witches all behaved themselves, following behind the Academy Head and me to enter this World Fragment sequentially.

And the moment I entered this World Fragment, I immediately felt a peculiar sensation.

There was a feeling that this ”world” seemed to have died, yet the scene before me was still ”flourishing,” with lush green grass and dense forests.

A light perception could detect tiny things, from insects in the leaves and under the mud to decomposing microbial communities.

In the distance, animals were calling, and looking up, one could see the simulated sun radiating sunlight.

This seemed to be a small world with a very complete ecosystem!

But this was not what shocked me the most, because I discovered that this World Fragment actually isolated the spell effect of the Great Weakening Spell of the Main World’s Core Realm!

Didn’t this mean that this place was essentially an absolutely perfect experimental area in the Core Realm?

The Witch Academy’s Secret Realms couldn’t even block the Great Weakening Spell effect, could they?

This was the first thing that came to my mind.

I subconsciously used the Earth Vein Appraisal Spell to obtain the information of the land beneath my feet… and it was successful!

Just as the collective of other Witches entered and joyfully experienced the wonder of the World Fragment, I noticed many anomalies.

”There is actually an Earth Vein here?!”

I exclaimed in surprise, looking at Academy Head Mei, seemingly hoping she could explain it to me.

”Of course, there is an Earth Vein. Don’t forget that every inch of land here originated from a world. Only by retaining the Earth Vein can the most basic world cycle proceed. It’s just that the activity of this Earth Vein has been greatly reduced and will slowly decay.”

Academy Head Mei promptly explained to me.

”Do you remember the first time you arrived at Ninglan New City? The Earth Vein outside Ninglan New City was severed, becoming a dead land that could not be touched. A crucial component that World Fragments seize is the World Earth Vein, which is the proof of whether a World Fragment is still alive. What a World Fragment seizes is not merely the earth and soil.”

”Then what happens if a World Fragment’s Earth Vein decays to exhaustion?”

I asked curiously.

”It will die, becoming something like an oversized Storage Equipment. It will be impossible to reconstruct an ecosystem with living things like this one again.”

”Then, can such an Earth Vein be repaired?”

”Mhm… it’s not impossible, but it’s not worth it, unless that World Fragment holds special value for a person or a Witch, to the extent of disregarding the cost. If it can’t be repaired, transplanting the Earth Vein of another world can also revive the World Fragment, but the world from which the Earth Vein is seized will become a dead land.”

”Alright…”

I didn’t ask any more questions.

I felt that any random piece of information I knew now could influence the development and destruction of a world.

After all, topics related to World Fragments are inherently inseparable from all sorts of worlds.

Those worlds are like fruits to be picked by anyone; no one cares about the parasitic worms or microorganisms on the fruit.

Perhaps in the eyes of the Transcendent beings who hold worlds in their hands, the indigenous lives on this world are somewhat similar to that…

In comparison, the people of the Main World’s Core Realm seemed to be luckier.

At least we were living with dignity in the manner of a civilized society, even if we were living in a lie where we didn’t know the past history, but we didn’t have to bear the pain of past humiliation.

”Xiao Han, although this world is considered a not-very-large World Fragment, its size is far too big to explore simply by walking. Would you like me to show you around your small world?”

”Mhm, thank you, Big Sis Mei.”

I nodded, agreeing with Academy Head Mei’s suggestion.

Although I had my own Flying Spellbook and Alchemical Flying Broom, with someone offering a ride, who would want to exert themselves?

With a gentle wave of Academy Head Mei’s hand, I floated up with her.

This feeling was like weightlessness, but my strong Body Cultivation physical quality quickly adapted to this lifted posture.

As we ascended, the distant scenery also came into our view.

It felt as if, if we went any higher, we would quickly see the boundaries of the world.

After all, this was a round heaven and square earth world.

”Xiao Han, you are very curious about what the boundary of the World Fragment looks like, aren’t you?”

Academy Head Mei asked with a smile, seeing my gaze fixed on the distance.

”Mhm.”

I nodded.

I was indeed a little unclear on how it was designed.

”Actually, when you reach the boundary of the World Fragment, it’s usually either a dangerous zone or an unreachable cliff. You don’t need to think about what happens to the lives that fall off. They will die if they fall. A normal intelligent creature with some judgment wouldn’t jump off a cliff for no reason, right?”

”So that’s how it’s solved?”

”Otherwise, how else? Such a world always has a boundary. Generally speaking, the material at the center of such a world is the most abundant, and it becomes scarce at the edges, which is enough to ensure that there won’t be large-scale biological communities at the boundaries.”

Academy Head Mei explained these foundational concepts to me.

These were considered common sense for Witches who had lived for a long time and had seen a lot.

At this moment, Academy Head Mei transformed into the most dedicated mentor, explaining the knowledge I didn’t understand, including but not limited to the maintenance of the World Fragment’s ecosystem, resource replenishment, how to interfere, and so on.

”It looks like this World Fragment doesn’t have any aborigines left, as we had previously speculated?”

I said.

”The traces of transfer are very obvious here, indicating that this wasn’t the original state. Perhaps something was being bred here, possibly a Wood Element Elf community, otherwise, it’s unlikely that such a massive and undeveloped area of trees and forests would remain here.”

Academy Head Mei said casually.

If there was nothing here, that was for the best.

She didn’t particularly like cleaning up messes, even if this was Xiao Han’s property.

Meanwhile, I was retrieving Earth Vein information and images.

However, the retrieval of this Earth Vein information was a bit slow, which was enough to indicate that the Earth Vein activity of this World Fragment was not high.

According to the Academy Head’s words, if the Earth Vein activity was not high, the world’s ability to sustain its resource cycle was very poor.

If possible, it was best not to make large-scale changes to the internal ecological structure of the World Fragment, or it might exacerbate the decay of the Earth Vein.

And now, the speed at which my Earth Vein Appraisal Spell retrieved information was also slow.

But before long, I also obtained this information.

”These… should be the Wood Element Elves you mentioned, Big Sis Mei, right? Sure enough, they were all transferred away by the Wizards.”

I expanded a section of the Earth Vein image and said.

”They are indeed Wood Element Grass and Tree Elves. They can condense the essence of grass and trees, which is a kind of energy very close to nature, very gentle, and widely applicable. It can be used in many fields, including but not limited to Alchemy, Spellcasting materials, Forging, and Ritual drawing.”

Academy Head Mei nodded, affirming that the beings in the image were Wood Element Elves.

”Perhaps, Xiao Han, if you have time, you can try to find them again. After all, a World Fragment is so large; if they missed a few Grass and Tree Elves, you could keep them.”

”Eh? Really?”

I looked at the palm-sized Grass and Tree Elves in the Earth Vein image and suddenly became interested.

After all, who wouldn’t like cute things?

”Of course, provided they were overlooked. To be honest, Wood Element Elves are somewhat taboo for the Forest Elves of the Aphrodite Academy. They do not allow anyone or any non-Elf race to enslave or breed Elf-type life forms. Once discovered, they pursue the matter to the end. But the Wizard Academy doesn’t seem to be afraid at all.”

Academy Head Mei said with a smile.

”There’s such a saying?”

”You don’t need to worry about it. This World Fragment belongs to you, after all.”

Academy Head Mei said with a smile.

”I forgot to tell you earlier. As of just now, I helped you clean up all the Spatial Markers and other things the Wizards left in this World Fragment. It was about… over a hundred thousand.”

”Ah?! Over a hundred thousand?!”

I was shocked by this number.

What were the Wizards trying to do?

”Don’t be surprised. They probably just didn’t clean up what they had left behind. After all, a World Fragment is so large, and breeding Grass and Tree Elves is also a tedious task. At most, they had a slim chance mentality. If they left one marker untreated, they could use it to observe what we Witches were doing with this World Fragment.”

”Then… was everything cleaned up?”

I asked, still somewhat worried.

”Of course. Even though I’m just an Avatar, I am still the Academy Head. What are you worried about, Xiao Han? Your Big Sis Mei is very capable.”
