Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 729: Going to Split the Spoils… No, Going to Claim Compensation for Emotional Distress

With someone eagerly volunteering to take the lead in this matter, many things naturally became much more convenient.

And for the next few days, we were constantly in this busy state.

The time-consuming part was mainly taking the new students through the enrollment procedures.

If we encountered someone with more severe resistance, it was actually less trouble.

A Sleeping Spell combo took them away, and it was enough to just toss them in the dorm and leave a basic information message.

However, as my actions became more frequent, my figure appeared in the eyes of more people.

After all, sometimes luring people wasn’t a sure thing; it was about snatching people from the hands of people from other academies.

The volunteer application was still not over and would continue for several days.

In fact, the peak period for snatching people would be when the support information from the various academies was fully gathered.

But the people being snatched at this stage… were all high-quality students who were already pre-booked and highly favored by other academies.

However, compared to those students, the other academies were clearly more concerned about… my fate.

A person who had already died in the past had thus come to them, alive and breathing, and was competing with them for new students.

This was clearly not right!

And the ones who were best informed that I was not dead and was doing well were the high-level Transcendent beings of the various Transcendent Academies.

They had already started to prepare to put this matter behind them and had been actively cooperating during this time to minimize the impact, cooperating with compensation and apologies, making various concessions and playing the subservient role… and this was what they got in return?

How could this not make them break down?!

The benefits were given, everything was given, and yet, they were now told that the person hadn’t died!

Then what was the purpose of all their active compensation?

In response, the various academies that learned this news all demanded an explanation.

After all, they were heartbroken over the loss of those compensations when normally, they would have to earn them!

Now these resources were given away for nothing; no one was willing to accept this.

But the Witches… once something was in their hands, those people had no right to demand it back.

No amount of fussing would help.

If they were to reason… they were fundamentally in the wrong.

So, they were destined to swallow this silent loss.

At most, they would just rage and cause a fuss for a while now.

Someone who causes trouble for themselves, is then outsmarted by others, and still jumps up and down—what else could they be but a clown?

However, this academy-level gamble had nothing to do with my current situation.

As Yi Rui and I collected enough data, we also gained some cognition and conjectures about the ”Initial Witchification” characteristic of the Magic Power Source.

What was important was not the intrinsic value of this technique itself, but the inspiration that this technique could bring us.

We were not going to follow the old path of Witchification Body Cultivation, but a brand new path.

Borrowing ideas was certainly necessary, but verbatim copying was impossible.

Inside the laboratory.

I held the current experimental plan for the Magic Power Source Body Cultivation Method, watching the few young women who were currently experimenting.

They were attempting a form of attunement with one Magic Power Source, based on the Metamorphic Incubation Spell.

Mentor Belica and her team had created five copies of the Metamorphic Incubation Spellbook for us, meaning we could conduct five experiments at once.

The current Metamorphic Incubation Spellbook already incorporated the inspiration gained from the Magic Power Source, combined with the original Rune Ritual architecture that I expressed using runes, derived from the enlightenment gained from the Self-awakened Body Cultivation Totem.

It was already on the verge of becoming an unconventional Sequence Derivation.

It was clear that the effect of this Resurrection Spell was beginning to diverge significantly from my Reincarnation Spell.

This incubation was not the kind of flesh and blood incubation, nor was it similar to the abyssal demon’s flesh and blood incubation.

Based on the conceptualization of the Magic Power Source for that Initial Witchification, the current incubation was already trending towards a Spell Light Cocoon incubation.

This was a continuous ”resurrection state.”

It could already intervene on a life essence level in this state.

That is, the so-called Soul-substance.

Both the soul and the Soul-substance are the essence of life, but one is a transformed state, and the other is the original state born by the world.

But being able to intervene with the life essence meant that the Magic Power Source Body Cultivation Method was basically halfway to success.

One only needed to use Metamorphic Incubation to rewrite a person’s life essence, or rather, metamorphose a person’s life essence, transforming an individual’s external body into a physique that was compatible with the Magic Power Source.

The Magic Power Source Body Cultivation Method would then be considered successful in reaching its first threshold.

However, this compatibility still could not reach the level of Self-generating Magic Power, which relies on the self to carry the Magic Power Source.

One would still have to rely on the Earth Vein Chains for the carrying, so the upper limit of ten thousand Magic Power Sources could not be eliminated.

And the final outcome that this Metamorphic Incubation needed to achieve was… to architect a channel that thoroughly connected the Magic Power Source with one’s own life essence.

Only then could this connection rely on the Magic Power Source as a base point, combined with the original Rune Ritual that I analyzed from the talent of Self-generating Magic Power.

Only then could a person’s life essence be modified into the form of Self-generating Magic Power.

So, in essence, the goal was to find a method to subtly influence the life essence, architecting Self-generating Magic Power upon the life essence through this external, controllable means, and only then could this architected ability on the life essence feedback to the physical body talent.

Self-generating Magic Power is a physique, a talented physique that generates Magic Power.

And its essence is an ability based on the ”life essence,” which is the ”Soul-substance.”

Therefore, to possess it, changing the physical body is only treating the symptoms; modifying the life essence is treating the root cause.

And the ability of Self-generating Magic Power is architected upon Self-awakened Body Cultivation.

Its source is Body Cultivation, so a brand new Body Cultivation model is fundamental to the birth of Self-generating Magic Power.

At least, I haven’t discovered a second path yet.

Even if I did, I wouldn’t attempt it.

At least until I succeed on the Body Cultivation path, I won’t try.

Focusing on one path is the shortcut to success.

With this organization, many things became clear, and the tasks that needed to be done also became simple.

As for why no Transcendent Witch has achieved this?

It’s because the most crucial step—finding the method of its creation from Self-generating Magic Power—is currently something no Witch can achieve.

To achieve this, those Transcendent Witches would need to discard the Self-generating Magic Power ”automatically” acquired upon advancing to Transcendent, and rely on their own ability to generate the Self-generating Magic Power talent again.

If they can’t do that, they can’t understand how it’s born.

And another reason why I am more suitable to research it is… I also have the Totem!

This Totem is not only the Totem of Self-generating Magic Power but also a combined Totem of Self-awakened Body Cultivation and Self-generating Magic Power.

With such a complete system of ”root source” and ”architecture,” who else is more suitable to research it than me?

I can confidently say that besides the great existences—the Truth Witches—who first created Self-generating Magic Power, there is basically no one else.

And just as I was preparing to write new inspiration and ideas for the derivation of the Metamorphic Incubation Spellbook, based on the current stage of the experiment, my Great Tree of Knowledge received a message, forcing me to stop what I was doing.

With a Spell image projecting, Academy Head Mei’s communication image appeared in the laboratory.

With the movement on my side, many people cast curious glances, but upon seeing the Academy Head’s figure, they subconsciously stopped what they were doing.

After all… this was the Academy Head!

”Big Sis Mei, is something the matter?”

”Oh, still in the laboratory?”

Academy Head Mei looked around.

Through her communication perspective, she could see the environment around me.

I could also see her, but because I was in the laboratory, I had set it up to only show the communicator and the real-time surrounding environment in a small window, which also moved along with me.

”Have you achieved any results?”

”Ah I wouldn’t say results yet. After all, this isn’t the research from before; the difficulty has jumped quite a bit.”

”That’s to be expected. But don’t be anxious about this matter.”

Academy Head Mei comforted me.

After all, she was very clear that the current research had a significant leap in difficulty compared to the previous ones.

The hardest research Xiao Han had done before was merely on the Grand Spellbook.

A Witch could roughly figure out that over a few hundred or a thousand years.

But what Xiao Han was working on now was a field that no Witch could figure out.

The leap in difficulty was indeed quite large…

”It’s fine. I’m not anxious. You won’t achieve any results if you can’t be patient.”

”I’m very relieved that you can maintain this mindset.”

Academy Head Mei said with a smile.

She was actually afraid that Xiao Han would say she had already achieved some results.

If Xiao Han achieved results so quickly… then those Witches in the experimental area should stop working on their current projects and thesis and become Xiao Han’s assistants.

That would be a very promising path!

”Then why did Big Sis Mei suddenly contact me? Or did my exposure of not being dead cause another major incident?”

I asked worriedly. If I was causing trouble, that really wasn’t good.

However, I wasn’t the main perpetrator of this incident, was I… Academy Head Mei and her team were also involved.

”Those are all small matters, Xiao Han, don’t worry. Just consider it listening to dogs bark.”

Academy Head Mei said indifferently.

Those so-called protests were meaningless.

All truth is written on absolute strength, and if absolute strength is on their side, being relentless is the least of their worries.

”That’s good. I don’t really like the atmosphere of the Academy Network right now, so I mostly ignore the trending topics there. Besides, I have a lot of important things to do.”

”Just maintain your own rhythm, Xiao Han. But was my sudden contact this time an intrusion? Do you have some free time?”

”Of course, I do!”

I quickly replied.

Unless it was a truly critical moment, like when I was perfecting a Spellbook, at other times, I was always free.

If I truly wasn’t free, there would be no way to contact me by any means.

This was not an exaggeration.

I wasn’t afraid of my inspiration being interrupted because I had the Great Tree of Knowledge.

The synchronization of memory and knowledge allowed me to quickly re-enter that state.

Moreover, the power of Body Cultivation allowed me to enter an optimal physical state at any time, such as Unity of Knowledge and Action, a calm heart like still water, and so on.

I even had a Unity of Knowledge and Action Spellbook before, but that Spellbook has since been derived and almost integrated into my Body Cultivation instincts.

However, it was always best if inspiration was not interrupted.

The state of inspiration that comes naturally from one’s self and consciousness is far more perfect than the state achieved through self-regulation.

”I’m curious to ask, Big Sis Mei, is something the matter?”

”I’m here to collect the benefits I extorted from the other academies.”

Academy Head Mei said with a smile.

”Oh! Splitting the spoils!”

I instantly understood.

”Splitting the spoils sounds so crude! This is the compensation they provided. It’s your compensation for emotional distress!”

Academy Head Mei corrected.

”Hurry and come to my office. The items are quite nice. I’ll keep you guessing for now.”

”Eh? Alright then…”

I didn’t press the issue.

After all, everyone understood that one should not display their wealth openly.

Although everyone in the laboratory was a friend, no one wanted things to turn sour over some benefits.

After all, when the stakes are high, some people are capable of doing anything.

After hanging up the call with Academy Head Mei, many people in the laboratory also came forward.

This was the first time they had seen this side of the Academy Head, and it was certainly an eye-opener.

”Well, as you all saw, I’ll have to excuse myself for a moment. Please help me keep an eye on the Metamorphic Incubation experiment. Contact me immediately if anything unexpected happens.”

I quickly handed over the task at hand.

”Also, I’ve put forward some ideas regarding the derivation path of the Metamorphic Incubation Spellbook. You can also take a look or even try them out.”

”Big Sis Xiao Han, go ahead. We’ve got things here.”

”Yes, yes. Big Sis Xiao Han, go and get your compensation for emotional distress.”

”Then I’ll be going now.”

I said with a smile, quickly saying my goodbyes, and then left.

After I left, the young women in the laboratory finally started the conversation they couldn’t have earlier.

”Wow… I knew it. This was definitely a trap designed by the Academy Head. We actually guessed correctly!”

”Of course How could Big Sis Xiao Han die so easily? But looking back now, the Academy Head’s acting was spot-on.”

”I didn’t expect Academy Head Mei to have such a good relationship with Big Sis Xiao Han. If I met her, I wouldn’t even dare to speak.”

”See That’s the difference! You call her ’Academy Head, her venerable self,’ but Big Sis Xiao Han calls her ’Big Sis Mei’! Try being a little sweeter, won’t you?”

After a round of gossip and chatting to liven up the atmosphere, they plunged back into their research.

After all, they weren’t people who couldn’t distinguish the occasion.

In the atmosphere of a laboratory, business comes first.

Moreover, their mentors were also here conducting their research and projects, and being too unprofessional would lead to a reprimand.

”Hand over that footnote Xiao Han left me.”

”I want a copy too.”

”Never mind, I’ll print a few copies for everyone.”

”Wait… why don’t you just upload it to the Great Tree of Knowledge and share it with us?”

”Oh right! I’m sorry… I was out of my mind…”
