The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World

The live-cooking carp dish is something you won’t find at most restaurants.

Forget about Shangshi Private Kitchen, even a seafood specialty restaurant like Qianlima doesn’t have it.

Wang Yulong had only heard of such a method for cooking carp.

They say that when the dish is served, the fish’s mouth is still opening and closing, and its tail is still twitching slightly, which is quite astonishing.

However, no matter how rare this dish is, the problem is that someone in the kitchen has to know how to make it!

Liu Yunong sneered, ”No worries, he said it himself. Just let the back kitchen handle the cooking as they see fit, however it turns out, it turns out.”

Wang Yulong nodded and didn’t say anything further.

Liu Zhangpeng, seeing this, quietly leaned over to Wang Yulong and, taking advantage of the moment when no one was paying attention, asked in a low voice, ”Master, is this doable?”

Wang Yulong glanced at Liu Yunong’s side and, lowering his voice, dodged the question by asking, ”Who do you think is smarter, you or the boss?”

”It has to be the boss!”

Liu Zhangpeng spoke truthfully; if he were smarter than Liu Yunong, he wouldn’t be toiling away diligently in the back kitchen.

Wang Yulong chuckled, ”So the boss says it’s fine, what are you worried about?”

Liu Zhangpeng was taken aback. Right, what does he have to worry about when the boss is right there and will handle whatever comes up?

If there was any doubt about cooking this dish, the boss wouldn’t have taken the order.

Liu Yunong’s skills were something Liu Zhangpeng was well aware of.

As a young and beautiful woman, she managed to run the main restaurant so successfully, and even opened several branch restaurants, excelling beyond her late predecessors in both talent and ability.

Liu Zhangpeng suddenly felt relieved.

Compared to the boss, he didn’t have profound wisdom, and his culinary skills were just above average, but not outstanding in the talent-filled kitchen.

Now that the boss is overseeing things, why worry?

Indeed, worrying was unnecessary, and Liu Zhangpeng relaxed and took the cooking order, albeit with a bit of divided attention.

He was quite curious about how this live-cooking carp was prepared.

One must admit that Liu Yunong was a seasoned chef.

With rich experience in cooking, her familiarity with a variety of dishes was astonishing.

When encountering this situation, she decisively avoided any unpleasant communication with Vice President Wang.

Liu Yunong calmly took the order, while the other kitchen staff were uncertain.

Having worked in the kitchen for a while, they were somewhat familiar with the dishes of Liu Family Cuisine.

Even if there were some ambiguities, they’d at least heard of them.

Now that Wang Yulong himself said no one knew how to make this live-cooking carp.

What should they do then?

So, one of the assistants directly asked, ”Boss, what ingredients should we prep?”

Fu Yu was reminded by the assistant and immediately understood what Liu Yunong was thinking.

It was simple. Since the other party had brought over the ingredients, the only request was to help finish the dish so it could be served.

Whether the fish was alive when it went into the pot didn’t really matter.

After all, the customers came in to eat, and as long as there’s a dish on the table and they enjoy the meal, the matter would be resolved.

Whether this live-cooking carp worked out or not, what was really needed was the restaurant’s attitude.

According to Liu Yunong, this Vice President Wang was just here to show off. As long as they cooperate well and make him feel superior, and everyone in the restaurant flatters and appeases him, everything else would be negotiable.

Fu Yu was lost in thought when he saw Liu Yunong standing in front of the kitchen counter, not in a hurry to start preparing, nor immediately responding to the assistant’s question.

Instead, she took out her phone and started searching the internet for how to cook live-cooking carp.

After a while, Liu Yunong paused on a webpage and turned to instruct the assistant, ”Prepare bamboo shoots, cooked ham, rehydrated mushrooms...”

The assistant was stunned, clearly incredulous!

Was she learning and doing at the same time?

She was actually following the online cooking methods to prepare the ingredients.

”When processing the live carp, its belly is opened to remove the innards but the chest cavity is left unopened... the fish’s heart is unharmed, the brain remains functional, positioned in an active state, allowing the fish’s mouth, gills, and gill covers to move through the nerves...”

Indeed, the carp had only its chest membrane opened, so its heart remained undamaged.

This way, when cooking, with skillful technique, it could naturally exhibit the astonishing effect where the fish’s mouth keeps opening and closing and its tail gently quivers as the dish is served.

But!

After listening to Liu Yunong’s exposition on the cooking method, the few in the kitchen looked even more concerned.

Because the fish still had to be cooked in the pot, and frying is not like other operations; a slight mistake would cook the fish through, and how could dead meat showcase a lively aspect?

Moreover, there was another concern.

If the cooking time were too short, the fish meat would be undercooked and inedible, no matter how lively it looked!

Additionally, while cooking this live fish, it still needed seasoning and presentation!

These were all issues.

What Fu Yu could think of, Liu Yunong could as well.

After carefully reviewing the cooking method for live-cooking carp, she frowned slightly and turned, handing the phone to Fu Yu, ”Take a look, the cooking method for this dish isn’t simple! It not only needs to be fried but also requires the brain and heart to remain undamaged. Do you know what this means?”

Liu Yunong had a serious look as she said, ”This means the frying time must be precisely controlled, too long or too short won’t do!”

”And I’ve never made this dish before. I’m not familiar with the cooking method, and this dish requires cleaning and raising the carp in freshwater beforehand, so it can rid itself of impurities.”
