Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 1549: Chapter 1549: Just a Partnership

The servant also noticed his pale complexion and hurriedly said, “Yes, President Lawrence, I’ll go make the call right away.”

All the while, inwardly disapproving of Skye Lawrence’s actions.

No matter the reason, the First Young Lady shouldn’t have upset President Lawrence so much. Over the years, President Lawrence had devoted so much care and effort to her, always meeting her requests. Even though President Lawrence was not a man of many expressions, they could all see that he truly cherished the First Young Lady.

Yet the First Young Lady had made President Lawrence so upset that it affected his health.

Outside the door.

Skye Lawrence hadn’t actually left immediately.

After closing the Entrance Hall’s main door, she stood outside, hearing Nicholas Lawrence ask a servant to call for a personal doctor.

Her hand involuntarily tightened around the doorknob, so tightly that the veins on her fair hand stood out.

Just then, her cell phone vibrated.

Skye Lawrence suppressed her complex emotions, took a deep breath, and walked to the side to answer the phone, “Hello.”

“Where are you?”

It was Oscar!

Skye Lawrence, who was already least inclined to hear his voice, said with extreme impatience, “It’s none of your business, don’t forget, we are only business partners.”

The person on the other end didn’t seem to be annoyed, paused for a moment, and said, “Even if we’re just business partners, I still need to care about the health of my colleague.”

“I’m fine, you don’t need to worry about me!” Skye Lawrence said coldly, keeping people at a thousand-mile distance.

The person on the other end seemingly didn’t pick up on her tone and even chuckled, “Is that so? What I’m seeing doesn’t seem to match your words, Miss Lawrence of the Lawrence Family doesn’t look very well. Standing alone in the cold wind, talking to me on the phone.”

Skye Lawrence immediately looked around, and sure enough, she saw an unassuming Maybach parked at the opposite street corner.

The person in the car was looking at her, shaking the phone in their hand to greet her.

Skye Lawrence’s expression instantly turned cold, and she subtly covered the slap mark on her left cheek, asking coldly, “Are you following me?”

“Don’t misunderstand, I’m not following you. I just noticed that you left the auction before it ended at noon, so I had someone check where you were, just to offer a ride to the Hospital to get your wrist splint on,” he explained.

“Tch.” Skye Lawrence didn’t know whether to believe him or not, and after a sneer that held back all the emotions in her eyes, she said indifferently, “Mr. Oscar, you don’t need to put in so much effort with me. Because no matter how much effort you put into me, you will only get what we’ve agreed upon in our terms. Don’t even think about getting anything more—you won’t get it.”

Right now, she had done something detrimental to the Lawrence Family, but she didn’t truly wish to harm the family or to compete with Baron.

What she wanted was merely to achieve her goal.

And Oscar was her business partner.

She could cooperate with him, but if he thought she was the kind of foolish woman who could easily fall in love and be blinded by it, he was greatly underestimating her!

“I know.” The person on the other end was as calm as she, lazily saying, “I’ve always known you’re Skye Lawrence. The name Skye Lawrence has been legendary in the business world these past few years, and I’ve never underestimated those three characters. I just wanted to give you a ride to the Hospital simply. Come on, get in the car. I’m waiting for you.”

After he finished speaking, he hung up the phone.

Skye Lawrence frowned slightly, put away her phone, and still walked toward the Maybach—

She had been picked up by someone Nicholas Lawrence sent earlier, and now calling for a driver again would be too much trouble.

Most importantly, she had no face to continue staying there. As for her dad, she would have to wait until she had completed what she needed to do, then ask for his forgiveness later.
