Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 1546: Chapter 1546: I’ll Pretend I Don’t Have a Daughter Like You

Nicholas Lawrence’s face was deeply etched with fatigue and disappointment, a sharp sting to Skye Lawrence’s eyes. Her red lips tightened then relaxed, relaxed then tightened again. It took a long while before she said, “The Oscar Family can’t touch that money, I’ve taken precautions. I did this for my reasons…”

“What reasons?” Nicholas Lawrence really couldn’t think of any reasons that would be worth compromising the family interests for.

“I can’t say,” Skye Lawrence responded after a moment of silence, “All in all, Dad, you just need to know that I won’t really harm the family’s financial interests.”

Nicholas Lawrence had intended to give her a chance to explain, but hearing such a response, his facial muscles suddenly tensed, probably too angrily, as his left cheek twitched violently! He slammed the table, “You’re not harming the company’s interests? Do you have any idea how much money the company has lost so far because of your antics? It’s over a hundred million!”

The biggest problem was the loss of that working capital. Without it, all the subsidiaries’ projects under the Lawrence Family are affected, and the domino effect will only make the Lawrence Family’s predicament worse!

He couldn’t believe Skye Lawrence was unaware of this!

She had clearly done something utterly reprehensible, yet she still dared to say she wouldn’t.

Nicholas Lawrence was truly disappointed, disappointed to the extreme.

This man, cold and rigid as a steel tower, seemed to age decades overnight. He gave her a deep look, as if seeing through her to someone else. He forcefully suppressed the surging anger in his chest and said, “I’ve said all I needed to; now, I’ll ask you one last time. Skye, will you return the money or not?”

If she returned the money now, he could still help her clean up this mess.

Looking at his haggard and weary appearance, Skye Lawrence’s heart clenched tight, but she still pursed her lips and said, “Dad, I’m really not trying to do anything that would hurt the company or you. I just need to borrow that money for a while. Once I’ve done what I have to do, I will return it. I will make up for any losses caused to the company during this time…”

Nicholas Lawrence didn’t want to continue the conversation and cut her off, “So you’re not planning to return it, is that it?”

He took a deep breath, his hardened face contorted again and again, becoming as firm as iron, and he said word for word, “I don’t have a daughter like you, and the Lawrence Family doesn’t have a First Young Lady like you. Since you’ve made your choice, just leave.”

If it wasn’t for the sake of your deceased mother, for such actions, even sending you to the FBI specializing in Economic Crimes would be plausible!

“Dad!” Skye Lawrence caught his meaning, and although she had been calm since she entered, his words made her eyes widen and her lips tremble, “What do you mean?”

“I have raised you for over twenty years, and my failure to impart the basic principles of being a person is my failure. I will do my best to resolve this issue. Since I can’t teach you properly, I will no longer try. If you think there are things more important than your family, then the family has to let you go too.”

Nicholas Lawrence had never said so much at once; the last time he spoke this much was when he was arguing with Old Master Lawrence about Skye’s marriage, standing up for her.

He never imagined that this time, it would be to disown Skye Lawrence from the Lawrence Family.

A person who betrays their family and their own kin, he couldn’t keep them, he could only accept that he had raised her in vain for decades!
