Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 1544: Chapter 1544: Stand Up and Deliver a Slap

The villa’s bedroom was picturesque, ablaze with passion.

Outside, however, the weather had suddenly changed.

It began after ten o’clock at night when the Lawrence Corporation’s financial statements were leaked by someone. The data for this fiscal year on the financial statements was not looking good, with several major places showing funds mysteriously disappearing.

Immediately following this, before the problems in the financial statements could be resolved, stocks began to be sold off in large volumes. Within less than two hours, Lawrence Corporation’s stocks had plummeted to an all-time low, with a continuing downward trend…

During this process, a variety of unfavorable rumors about Lawrence Corporation spread from different channels, as if they had been orchestrated beforehand.

Old Master Lawrence was still in the isolation ward, unawakened, while Nicholas Lawrence, as one of the major shareholders, was one of the first to receive the news.

As he looked at each message that came through, he suddenly stood up and smashed the coffee cup in his hand violently.

The servants were so frightened that they trembled, and no one dared to speak.

Nicholas appeared to be furious, his stern face etched with anger and disbelief, desperately trying to restrain himself.

Even with his restraint, his body was still shaking slightly from anger; he clenched his fists, his voice lowering with a chill, “Go, bring the First Young Lady back here!”

He did not say call, but bring.

The implication was, even if Skye Lawrence did not wish to return, she was to be forcibly brought back by any means necessary!

The bodyguard, though clueless as to what the Lawrence family’s problem had to do with the First Young Lady, dared not ask questions and went to execute Nicholas’s order.

Nicholas Lawrence, face tight, collapsed onto the couch. After sitting for a while, he dialed Baron Lawrence’s number only to find it switched off; his temples throbbed violently.

He waited for probably less than half an hour before Skye Lawrence returned.

She was still dressed in the suit she had worn to see Baron Lawrence, elegant and capable, as if oblivious to the tense atmosphere in the living room, she walked calmly up to Nicholas and called out, “Dad.”

Nicholas Lawrence had been holding his scowl, but when she approached, he suddenly stood up and slapped her across the face!

“Smack!” The heavy slap echoed through the entire living room.

All the servants in the living room were stunned, heads bowed, fearing the fire might spread to them.

President Lawrence had actually struck the First Young Lady! Unthinkable!

Everyone knew President Lawrence was cold on the outside but warm on the inside; although he hadn’t shown it much over the years, he had actually doted on the First Young Lady enormously.

To say he had spoiled her rotten was an understatement, having never spoken a harsh word to her.

This time, what exactly had the First Young Lady done to provoke President Lawrence to lash out physically?

After hitting her, Nicholas did not feel any regret; he watched as Skye Lawrence covered her left cheek, her eyebrows almost pinching a fly to death.

“Was it you?”

Skye Lawrence remained silent.

Nicholas, enraged, felt his chest heaving violently, his complexion turning a greenish hue, “Reason! What’s your reason for doing this?”

Just one look at that report, and he knew whose doing it was.

Aside from Skye Lawrence, no one else could have moved such a large sum without anyone noticing.

His own daughter trying to bring down the family’s corporation—no one would accept that, so he needed a reason!

Skye Lawrence still kept her lips tightly sealed, not speaking a word.

From the moment she stepped through the door, she knew what she would have to face; she had prepared herself.

Nicholas, seeing her defiant demeanor, felt even more infuriated. But her profile resembled her deceased mother’s too much. Although his hand was raised, he still could not bring himself to strike her again; he struggled to control himself, his hand forming into a fist in mid-air, before slowly lowering it—

“Is the Oscar family involved?”
