Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 1144: Chapter 1144: Emilia Goldsmith Almost Kissed Lyle Westbrook Chapter 1144: Chapter 1144: Emilia Goldsmith Almost Kissed Lyle Westbrook After they had left, the people at the coffee shop were still gossiping about them, but Emilia Goldsmith was completely unaware.

Even if she had known, she wouldn’t have cared.

Clinging to the arm of a handsome man, she first went shopping, then saw a movie, played the claw machine, and finally, after having a French meal, the sky had gradually darkened.

She didn’t go home, but instead drove to the seaside.

The night’s beach was dotted with couples, all walking hand in hand along the shore.

“Lyle Westbrook, over here.” She ran ahead, imitating other girls by taking off her shoes and placing them aside, stepping into the seawater. With a beaming smile, she waved towards the man who wasn’t far away.

Lyle had never seen her so carefree, and with complicated emotions in his eyes, slowly walked towards her.

“Do you want to join me?” The sea breeze tousled her long hair and caused her dress to flutter. She looked stunningly beautiful.

“I can walk with you,” Lyle said, although he didn’t enter the water. He walked beside her, casually holding her shoes in his hand, and spoke softly, “Let’s go.”

Emilia noticed the small detail of him carrying her shoes, and her heart skipped a beat. She diverted her gaze, stepping barefoot on the sand, and continued walking along the coastline step by step…

“Do you know? I’ve had a dream for a very, very long time, dreaming of one day with you. But when the dream actually came true, it turned out to be completely different from what I imagined.”

Her delicate feet imprinted a series of footprints on the beach. Emilia suddenly stopped and looked at the man before her. The contours of his face were what she had etched into the depths of her mind, traced over and over countless times. Yet, despite tracing his features for so many years, she had never managed to enter his heart.

Impulsively, she focused intently on the man’s face, tiptoed, and leaned in to press her red lips against his—

Just as she was about to touch the man’s cool, hydrangea-like lips, an arm suddenly appeared in front of her chest, “I’m sorry, Emilia.”

Emilia Goldsmith was abruptly rejected, her eyes brimming with tears, even though she tried her best to hide it, the moisture in her eyes was evident, “Didn’t you promise to spend a day with me? It’s not over yet…”

Lyle glanced at her tightly clutched, slightly trembling hand, let out a sigh, and furrowed his brow as if he had a headache, “Sorry, Emilia, I was too hasty. I shouldn’t have asked for your help today. Pretend I never came to you, let me take you home.”

He had been too eager, focusing only on himself, wanting to quickly find out who was scheming behind Enna Clark’s back.

He had forgotten that asking Emilia Goldsmith for help was a form of hurt to her.

If he didn’t like her, he shouldn’t hurt her.

As for Enna’s situation, he would find another way.

Having come to his senses, Lyle placed her shoes down, his dark, midnight-like eyes showing guilt as he took a step back, “Let’s go, it’s late.”

Even in the summer night, the seaside was very cold, especially since she was barefoot in the water, it was even colder.

But the chill on her body was nothing compared to the coldness in her heart.

“Do you really not need my help anymore? Aren’t you worried about her?”

“I will figure it out on my own.”

Why?

Hadn’t he just wanted her help earlier?

Why did he suddenly not need it anymore? Just because she wanted to kiss him?
