Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 1113: Chapter 1113: The Four People Met Together Chapter 1113: Chapter 1113: The Four People Met Together Upon entering the venue, Scarlett grabbed the wrist of the man walking ahead of her and said discontentedly, “Why are you walking so fast? I’m still behind you, didn’t you see?”

Lyle Westbrook pulled his hand away with disdain and spoke with utter indifference, “I only agreed to accompany you on the red carpet. My responsibility is to walk; how fast or slow you go is irrelevant to me.”

Originally, he hadn’t even planned to walk the red carpet with her, but he had agreed to it just to appease others’ requests.

And yet, she dawdled on the red carpet.

He disliked the glare of the flashbulbs and the noise. Since she liked it, what was wrong with leaving her behind?

Scarlett could feel the cool fingertips of the hand holding her wrist; her heartbeat involuntarily quickened, and the next second, her hand was mercilessly pulled away.

Even if she were the last to notice, she was now painfully aware of Lyle’s aversion to her. A slight blush crept onto her cheeks. She wanted to argue with him but then remembered the setting they were in. Concerned for her image, she forced a sweet smile and said discontentedly, “Being approachable is a royal rule. Walking a bit slower is for the sake of the royal image.”

“I’m not royal, so I don’t need to!” Lyle replied to her impassively.

“You—” Scarlett was caught off guard, almost blurting out, “You may not be, but your mom is the Princess Consort.”

But she swallowed the words down with resentment!

She didn’t want to acknowledge that woman as the Princess Consort!

What was that woman to her, and why should she be acknowledged as her mom?

Lyle Westbrook couldn’t have cared less about what she was thinking. His rose-colored lips, which were parted in an aura of cruelty and indifference, stated flatly, “I am going to find a quiet corner. You probably don’t want to join me. So, let’s part ways here.”

“You’re not accompanying me?” Scarlett could hardly believe her ears.

Lyle, who otherwise maintained gentlemanly decorum towards women, bore with his impatience and answered the sister who was not related to him by blood, “I don’t enjoy socializing.”

He didn’t like such occasions, nor did he enjoy mingling!

He had disliked them before, and he still disliked them now. He had left the Westbrook family in the past because he didn’t want to attend these superfluous gatherings. His return did not mean he had changed.

He had come back for one person only.

Now that person hadn’t arrived yet, and he had no interest in anyone else. Therefore, he only wanted to be left alone and undisturbed! It was that simple!

“But you…” She hadn’t finished her sentence.

A commotion rippled through the hall as many eyes turned to the side entrance.

Scarlett involuntarily looked over as well and spotted a man in the crowd who was dazzlingly prominent. That dazzle was different from how Lyle dazzled her. It was domineering, intense, the kind of dazzle that seized one’s gaze in an instant.

Her heart started thumping loudly.

Just as she was about to approach, she saw someone beside the dazzling man—a mere blue hemline that, worn by that person, looked inexplicably right.

Although the beauty wasn’t the startling kind, it was enduring. The more one looked, the more appealing it became. Standing beside such a dazzling man, the person didn’t lose presence entirely.

The two of them appeared quite well-matched!

No sooner had Scarlett entertained the thought than she felt utterly ridiculous!
