Lingering Doting Marriage: Big Boss, Little Sweet Heart

Chapter 1132: Chapter 1132: Do You Know Why I Wanted to See You? Chapter 1132: Chapter 1132: Do You Know Why I Wanted to See You? She really did leave!

Without a single look back, she was gone!

Enna Clark watched the tall and handsome figure disappear at the entrance, took a deep breath, and with a forced smile, said to the housekeeper beside her, “Could you please take me over there?”

“Miss Clark, are you all right?” The housekeeper was a bit worried about her. After all, for a young lady to face a series of unexpected events and with the young master being angry, anyone would feel upset, “The young master, he…”

Enna Clark quickly interrupted, “I know Baron Lawrence’s temperament; he’s just in a fury now, he’ll cool down later. I should go meet Grandpa first.”

The housekeeper looked at her with new respect and went ahead to lead the way, “Very well, Miss Clark, please follow me.”

After crossing the courtyard that resembled a park, they arrived at the European-style castle. Enna Clark followed the housekeeper up to the second floor.

“Please wait a moment, Miss Clark.”

The housekeeper raised his hand and knocked on the door, “Old Lord.”

“Come in.”

The voice of the old man inside was strong and sonorous, showing no signs of old age.

The housekeeper used his fingerprint to unlock the door, opened it, and stood aside, “Miss Clark, please.”

Enna Clark, having prepared herself, stepped in calmly and composed.

After she entered, the housekeeper followed, closing the door with a click.

Old Master Lawrence was sitting on the sofa, making tea. He glanced at her out of the corner of his eye, and when he noticed she had come alone, his eyebrows lifted slightly, but he said nothing more, redirecting his attention to focusing intently on his tea.

Enna Clark stood quietly on the opposite side, neither sitting down nor disturbing him.

The Old Master was meticulous about his tea-making, and it took nearly ten minutes just to wash the teaware.

With his left hand holding a shiny, expensive tea cup, he said without looking up, “Do you know why I wanted to see you?”

“I do.”

“Oh, why is that?”

“At the banquet, because of me, Baron Lawrence and the Lawrence family were embarrassed.”

Enna Clark was forthright in her admission, showing no intention of shirking responsibility or defending herself.

She hadn’t done anything, and the entire situation had caught her completely unaware, but indeed, she had caused damage to Baron Lawrence’s and the Lawrence family’s reputation.

As a younger member of the family, as Baron Lawrence’s fiancée, she was obliged to apologize to the Old Master.

“I’m sorry, Grandpa,” Enna Clark bowed.

Old Master Lawrence, originally seething with anger, saw her repeated proper conduct, and his rage was momentarily suppressed, no longer as intense.

“If apologies were enough, what need would there be for police officers?” Old Master Lawrence finally looked at her directly, putting down his tea cup and said bluntly, “In that situation, if I were you, I would have agreed to give the money temporarily and then immediately had the security guard take the people away. Instead of staying silent and letting the situation escalate! As for that money, you could decide later whether to give it or not, couldn’t you?”

“I’m sorry.”

Enna Clark knew this was right; when Jacob Clark and Juliet Jordan demanded money from her, she had considered this approach.

But she couldn’t do it.

Jacob Clark and Juliet Jordan were the brokers of her mother’s death; even the mere act of pretending to give them money was beyond her.

Old Master Lawrence had already conducted a thorough investigation of her background. He knew all about her upbringing, and of course, he was aware of the shady acts committed by Juliet Jordan and Jacob Clark. Hearing Enna Clark’s apology made it clear to him what she was thinking. His anger subsided a little, and with eyes that seemed to see into one’s soul, he continued, “What do you think I will do with you?”
