Alchemy Master

Chapter 90, Family Annihilation

“Excuse me, isn’t this the Li Family Mansion? How did it end up like this?”  Qin Yichen forcefully suppressed the rage in his heart and asked the approaching mercenaries in a calm tone.

“Why do you care so much? What happened is none of your business.” The lead mercenary impatiently scolded him. If not for seeing the two before him being young and old, he would have already taken action.

Qin Yichen said nothing, but instead handed over a bag of silver coins.

Hearing the sound from inside the bag, the mercenary’s eyes immediately lit up. He rudely accepted it, took a look, and quickly put the bag away. After coughing a few times, he said, “Kid, I advise you not to meddle in other people’s affairs. The people of Spreading Cloud City offended the Du Family from the Royal City, so last night. the Du Family made an example of the Li and Lin Families.”

[So, it really was the Du Family!] A cold killing intent flashed in the depths of Qin Yichen’s eyes. But, he was more concerned about the situation of his Parents and the Li Family members.

“What about those of the Li Family? Did none of them escape?”  After asking this, Qin Yichen clearly looked a bit nervous.  If he could not even protect his Parents, what was the point of being regressing!?

“They killed most of them, but I heard that the core members of the Li Family escaped through a secret passage in the back. Now, the Du Family is pursuing them.”

These mercenaries casually stated, clearly not caring about the old and young people before them. They grumbled, “The Du Family is determined to eliminate them, even if they escape temporarily, they can’t escape death!”

As one of the three Major Families in the Royal City, the Du Family might not be able to cover up the sky with one hand, but wiping out a city was still within their means. Even if the Royal Family found out later, they would at most get reprimanded a few times. They would not move against the Du Family because of this incident.

After all, the Du Family had been rooted in the Heavenly Unicorn Dynasty for hundreds of years and were deeply entrenched.

*Phew…* However, Qin Yichen let out a sigh of relief. As long as some people from the Li Family escaped, his Parents were very likely still alive.

“It seems the Ye Family has something good in their hands that caught the eye of the Du Family’s experts, so they haven’t made a move against the Ye Family yet. Tsk tsk, I never thought there would be something in a place like this that could catch the eye of the Du Family.” The mercenary, having received the silver coins, was in a good mood and spoke without restraint.

[The Ye Family survived?] After brief contemplation, a thoughtful look flashed in Qin Yichen’s eyes.

Something that could catch the Du Family’s attention must be those few Pill Formulas the Ye Family was selling for the auction. He knew very well the value of those few Pill Formulas!

Qin Yichen’s gaze involuntarily turned towards the direction of the Lin Family.

The Li Family Mansion had been destroyed, and the Lin Family Mansion was probably not much better off. Now, it seemed only the Ye Family had survived?

“Brother, the Ye Family…”

“The Ye Family will be destroyed today!”

Qin Yichen’s face immediately turned ashen.

…

At this time, in the Ye Family Mansion, shadows were flitting about. In the main hall, the atmosphere was tense.

Those present included members of the Li Family, the Lin Family, and of course the Ye Family – all core members of the three Major Families.

After the previous incident, they had formed an alliance for offence and defence.

However, at this moment, their faces all looked grim. Of course, it could be said that in the entire Heavenly Unicorn Dynasty, anyone who provoked the Du Family, one of the four giants of the Royal City, would face such a grim fate.

They had anticipated that the Du Family would retaliate, but they had not expected the Du Family’s retaliation to come so quickly. It had given them no time to react, and the Li Family and Lin Family were directly destroyed.

“Elder Lin, Family Head Li, are you sure it was done by people from the Du Family?”  At the top of the hall, Ye Hongyun, the Head of the Ye Family, frowned and asked Li Yuanfei and Lin Huarong in a low voice.

Hearing Ye Hongyun’s question, everyone’s gaze focused on Li Yuanfei and Lin Huarong.

Faced with everyone’s gaze, Li Yuanfei nodded with a grim expression and said, “That’s right. Although it was several mercenary groups that took action, this information was given to Master Ran in advance, which is why we managed to escape the disaster. Moreover, those mercenaries didn’t try to hide at all, directly taking action against us in the name of the Du Family…”

Although they already knew the answer in their hearts, after hearing Li Yuanfei’s words, many people in the hall suddenly turned pale.

They were now facing just powerful mercenary groups the Du Family had sent, not the Du Family itself. Yet, they were already pushed to this extent. If the Du Family personally took action…

Thinking of this, everyone’s expressions inevitably became far grimmer.

Fortunately, Ran Rui was an Alchemy Grandmaster with extensive connections. Otherwise, no one from the Li and Lin Families might have survived.

For a time, the hall fell into silence.

“This is all Qin Yichen’s fault. If not for him, our Ye Family would not have offended the Du Family, and we wouldn’t be in this situation today!” Under the oppressive atmosphere brought by the Du Family, a sharp voice suddenly rang out. Hearing this, several core members of the Ye Family also chimed in.

After all, this whole affair originally had nothing to do with the Ye Family; they were dragged into this for no reason.

“Are you blaming me?”  Ye Liangchen, sitting next to Ye Hongyun, spoke up, squinting his small eyes and sweeping his gaze over those who were making a fuss.

To this, Ye Hongyun closed his eyes, seemingly giving tacit approval.

*Hmph!* Seeing Ye Hongyun not speaking up, although they were still resentful, they had to shut their mouths. However, there was still a look of dissatisfaction in their eyes.

After suppressing them, Ye Liangchen cupped his hands towards Lin Huarong and Li Yuanfei. He gave a bitter smile, shook his head, and said, “Elder Lin, Family Head Li, some members of our Family have behaved inappropriately. I apologise for the embarrassment.”

“This matter indeed involves my Lin Family implicating your Ye and Li Families. This debt is something I, Lin Huarong, will forever remember in my heart.”

Lin Huarong glanced at Lin Aotian beside him, a look of determination flashing in his eyes. “Family Head Ye, Family Head Li, rest assured. This matter was caused by my Lin Family. If we can’t stay in Spreading Cloud City, my Lin Family will cover the retreat.”

Hearing these words, the expressions of those Elders and core members of the Ye Family improved somewhat, but they still were not happy.

No matter what, the Ye Family would not be spared from this!

They would have to start over from scratch, how easy would that be?

“Don’t worry, Elder Lin. We of the Ye Family are not cowards who fear death. If those mercenaries dare to come again, the remaining members of our Ye Family will fight alongside your Lin Family to the death!” Ye Liangchen’s eyes swept fiercely over those core members of the Ye Family. Under this gaze, those Ye Family members who originally had some objections had to swallow the words that were about to come out of their mouths.

“My Li Family also won’t betray our allies!” Li Yuanfei also spoke up. With the Li Family destroyed, all the Li Family experts were also holding back their rage.

With these words, Lin Huarong’s expression showed very obvious fluctuations.

Although under Qin Yichen’s mediation, the three Families had agreed to join forces. After so many years in Spreading Cloud City, there was a lot of enmity between many members of the three Major Families. If not for the enforcement of the three Family Heads, this cooperative relationship would probably have shattered long ago. At this point, the attitudes of Ye Liangchen and Li Yuanfei clearly showed their willingness to share the same fate as the Lin Family.
