Alchemy Master

Chapter 59, The Birthday Banquet

Translator: Silavin

In the blink of an eye, three days had passed.

At the Lin Family Mansion, in Spreading Cloud City.

Today was the seventieth birthday of Lin Huarong, the Family Head of the Lin Family. The entire Lin Family Mansion was decorated with lanterns and colourful ribbons, creating a lively atmosphere. The Lin Family servants were all dressed in bright, festive clothing, constantly wearing smiles as they welcomed the guests who came to offer their congratulations.

After all, even a lean camel is bigger than a horse. No one dared to underestimate Old Master Lin’s influence.

On this day, almost all the large and small Families in Spreading Cloud City had sent people to attend the birthday banquet. Of course, many also came with the hope of gaining some recognition from the Lin Family. They hoped to develop relationships that would benefit their own Family’s future development.

At the entrance of the Lin Family Mansion, Lin Shiyun led several servants while smiling, and welcoming some of the more important guests.

Even before noon, the number of guests arriving to offer congratulations had already exceeded a thousand.

Fortunately, the Lin Family Mansion was quite vast, allowing it to accommodate so many guests.

At this time, in the main hall of the Lin Family Mansion, Old Master Lin wore a red robe. Because the toxicity of the Spirit-Eroding Water in his body had not been fully eliminated, and he had taken a large amount of medicine. Nevertheless, currently, Old Master Lin’s face was glowing with health, not at all like someone who had been gravely ill.

Although Old Master Lin always wore a faint smile, no one would think he was a kind old man. The aura of a powerful expert that occasionally emanated from him reminded everyone that this man was the number one expert in Spreading Cloud City!

Beside Lin Huarong, Lin Aoqing also wore festive clothing, and the smile on his face could not be more smug.

[That old man said he has something important to announce. Apart from handing over all the power of the Lin Family to me, what other big event could there be in the Lin Family?]

So, people who knew some of the news all wore flattering smiles as they tried to curry favour with him, hoping to establish some kind of relationship.

“The Family Head of the Li Family, Li Yuanfei has arrived!”

“Ye Family, Ye Liangchen has arrived!”

As the time approached noon, following these two announcements, many guests looked towards the entrance.

Soon, two groups of people slowly entered through the main gate.

On the right side, a group was led by a young fat man. It would be more accurate to say he rolled in rather than walked in. After not seeing him for a few days, it seemed that Ye Liangchen was in a great mood due to recent events, causing his already extremely obese body to grow even bigger.

However, faced with the strange gazes and facial contortions from holding back their laughter, Ye Liangchen’s fat face revealed a smile that no one could understand.

He stuck out his chest… more like his big belly, striding with legs he could not see himself. He struck an exaggerated pose and moved towards the main hall like a crab.

His smug expression made many people’s mouths twitch. Nevertheless, there were still many who came forward to flatter him.

After all, no matter what, Ye Liangchen would be the heir to the Ye Family!

Naturally, entering alongside the Ye Family was the Li Family group, led by Li Yuanfei.

Li Yuanfei walked at the forefront, his every step revealed the aura of a Family Head of one of the three Major Families. It had caused many to secretly admire him.

The two groups undoubtedly formed a stark contrast.

Behind Li Yuanfei were Li Lingyan and Qin Yichen.

The young woman’s face was finely carved and exquisitely beautiful. When she smiled, two shallow dimples appeared. She wore a well-fitted sky-blue dress that made her appear elegant and otherworldly. Her black hair cascaded like a waterfall to her slender waist. Below, her perky buttocks and long, taut legs made her figure flawless.

As soon as she appeared, many young men’s eyes lit up. Their breathing became more rapid.

As the Daughter of the Li Family Head and one of the three great beauties of Spreading Cloud City, she shone like a bright pearl among the crowd.

Many young talents struck poses, which they considered to be dashing, just to gain a glance from the beauty.

Regardless of their efforts though, they were all to be disappointed. While she walked, Li Lingyan only had one focus. She has been chatting and laughing with Qin Yichen, who was beside her. Her clear eyes were fixed on him, as if he was the only person in the entire world.

“Who is that guy?” Many people noticed Qin Yichen’s presence and immediately showed unfriendly expressions.

Although Qin Yichen could be considered handsome, he did not stand out. He also was not wearing any luxurious clothing, which made him appear even more ordinary.

They just could not understand why such a person could be walking together with Li Lingyan, the Daughter of the Li Family.

Of course, there were many who had seen Qin Yichen before. Those that did naturally backed down.

He was someone who had even killed Mo Yun, so who were they to compare?

However, in the main hall, there was one person whose eyes flashed with a cold smile when he saw Qin Yichen.

That person was Lin Aoqing, who was standing beside Lin Huarong!

“Hehe, Brother Li, Nephew Ye!” Seeing Li Yuanfei and Ye Liangchen enter, Lin Huarong felt slightly relieved and personally stood up to welcome them.

“Old Master is looking more and more robust, congratulations, congratulations!”

“Brother Lin, congratulations, congratulations!”

Ye Liangchen and Li Yuanfei also approached with smiles.

With the arrival of the Li Family and Ye Family, the entire birthday banquet was pushed to a climax.

The fact that Li Yuanfei and Ye Liangchen personally came was something many people had not expected, including Lin Aoqing.

The relationship between the Li Family and the Lin Family was not this harmonious!

For some reason, Lin Aoqing felt a sense of foreboding in his heart.

After arranging for the Li Family and Ye Family to be seated, Lin Huarong also walked to a small platform at the front of the banquet that had been prepared in advance.

As his eyes swept over the crowd, the somewhat noisy scene immediately quieted down. All eyes turned silently to this old man, whose reputation still held strong.

Everyone knew that Lin Huarong, who had been in a coma for more than ten years, must have something major to announce after making such a huge fuss.

“It is truly my honour that all of you could come to attend my, Lin Huarong’s, birthday banquet!” Lin Huarong’s eyes swept over the crowd at the banquet, his deep voice resonating, sounding like it was full of vitality.

This made people wonder if he was really a man in his twilight years.

“Family Head Lin is too kind…”

“This is what we should do…”

Countless people from large and small Families tried their best to attract Lin Huarong’s attention. As his voice fell, a chorus of flattering voices immediately erupted from the banquet.

Lin Huarong nodded slightly, and with a wave of his hands, the clamour in the hall subsided once more.

“Having been in a coma for over ten years has made me realise that it’s not right for my Lin Family to not have prepared someone to succeed me,” Lin Huarong said with a smile.

Hearing his words, Lin Aoqing, who had been slightly worried, who was behind him, immediately felt a surge of joy.

[As I thought, this old man is finally going to hand over the Family to me!] Thinking this, the smile on Lin Aoqing’s face grew even more profound.

Since the position of Family Head was about to fall into his hands, there was no need for this old man and Lin Aotian to continue living!

He was already thinking about how to get rid of Lin Huarong and Lin Aotian.
