Alchemy Master

Chapter 86, The Strange Old Man

Translator: Silavin

After parting ways with Lu Linghan, Qin Yichen did not immediately leave the Black Demon Mountain Range, but instead circled around its outskirts in a large loop.

A few days ago, he had inadvertently discovered that there were many figures on the outskirts of the Black Demon Mountain Range, and among those figures were several familiar faces.

Those people were the ones who had entered the ancient ruin with Luo Qingyu and Wang Hailin.

It seemed that Luo Qingyu and Wang Hailin were still unwilling to give up, so they had people keeping watch. If they discovered him… Although Qin Yichen was confident in his own strength, he was still self-aware of the circumstances. He knew that currently, he did not have the strength to directly confront the Three Outstanding Prodigies of the Royal City.

After making a large detour, the sky had gradually darkened. Finding a place with few traces of people, Qin Yichen quickly darted out, leaving the range of the Black Demon Mountain Range.

After determining the direction, he headed towards Spreading Cloud City.

This detour undoubtedly increased the journey by more than double. The trip that could have been completed in one night was clearly impossible now.

After walking for about an hour, Qin Yichen noticed lights coming from ahead, and the outline of a small village appeared in his vision. “I’ll rest here for the night. It’s hard to get the direction right late at night.”

Qin Yichen immediately walked towards that small village.

Upon entering the village, Qin Yichen found that although it was night, the village was still quite lively. Occasionally, there were mercenaries like him returning from outside.

Qin Yichen’s appearance only attracted a few glances, but after seeing his still somewhat youthful face, those who had noticed him lost interest.

Soon, Qin Yichen came to the entrance of a small courtyard that looked like an inn.

At this time, there were still many mercenaries gathered in the courtyard. From their conversations, Qin Yichen learned that they were discussing the events at Black Wood Cliff.

Qin Yichen had no interest in these topics and quickly passed them by, entering the inn.

Upon entering the inn, Qin Yichen was surprised to find that the inside of the building was unusually quiet. Even the occasional person coming out tried not to make any noise, as if afraid of disturbing someone.

Qin Yichen’s gaze swept around the room briefly, finally stopping on an Elder behind the counter who seemed to be asleep with his head drooping.

This Elder’s hair was half white, clearly quite old. Moreover, he looked very thin and frail, seeming out of place here.

It was worth noting that this was the outskirts of the Black Demon Mountain Range. There were no really decent people here. Those without strength would not be able to survive in this place.

However, looking at the situation inside, it was clear that this inn was run by this Elder.

[How strange…] Qin Yichen hesitated for a moment but still approached the counter and softly called out, “Um… Sir, are there any rooms available?”

As if hearing Qin Yichen’s voice, the Elder slightly raised his head. Perhaps because his nap had been disturbed, his voice revealed impatience, “There’s still one room on the far left, but do you have any medicinal herbs?”

“Medicinal herbs?” Qin Yichen was stunned. He had never heard of an inn that did not accept currency but directly asked for medicinal herbs.

“Hehe, this kid doesn’t even know Old Zhou’s rules and dares to come in.”

“Don’t say too much, lest you get caught in the crossfire!”

The mercenaries outside looked at his bewildered face and could not help but cast sympathetic glances at him. One cannot be fooled by this Elder’s frail appearance. His fierce temper was something to be feared!

How many of them had not suffered at his hands?

“If you want to stay, bring out medicinal herbs. If not, quickly get lost!” The Elder seemed to want to hit someone, but perhaps realising it was a boy in front of him, he did not act. Instead, he scolded in a low voice, his voice hoarse and revealing coldness.

“Medicinal herbs, I really don’t have any…”

“Kid, are you here to make a fool out of me?” Before Qin Yichen could finish speaking, he was interrupted by the Elder. Sensing the Elder’s anger, those mercenaries who were originally preparing to watch the show all shrank back their necks.

Looking at the Elder’s aged face and somewhat sunken eyes, for some unknown reason, Qin Yichen’s heart suddenly skipped a beat.

From this Elder, he sensed an extremely dangerous feeling.

[This Elder is not that simple!] This thought flashed through Qin Yichen’s mind. He also did not doubt his intuition. He had not felt such a dangerous feeling even from Lin Huarong.

What this meant was clear!

“I don’t have medicinal herbs, but I have something even better than medicinal herbs.”

Just as the Elder was about to drive him away, Qin Yichen’s lips curled into a slight smile as he spoke.

The Elder only paused briefly, glanced at him, then calmly stretched out his hand, pointing to the door outside. He was just short of directly telling him to get lost.

From the expressions on the faces of those mercenaries, Qin Yichen could see that this was probably the Elder’s gentlest way of driving someone away.

However, Qin Yichen did not mind. Instead, he observed this Elder. Vaguely, from the aura emanating from the Elder’s body, he sensed a subtle fluctuation. At this, the curve of his lips deepened.

Not only did Qin Yichen not walk out, but he moved closer and softly said, “I observe that the Yuan Energy in your body is chaotic, so you need to use the medicinal properties of ordinary medicine to maintain it?”

Hearing these words, the Elder’s hand pointing to the door suddenly trembled. His sunken eyes stared intently at Qin Yichen, a hint of surprise flashing in his slightly narrowed eyes.

Being able to sense the Yuan Energy in his body was enough to show that this young man before him seemed to have some ability.

But soon, a hint of gloom flashed in the Elder’s eyes. [What did it matter if he knew? How could my hidden ailment be treated by such a young man?]

“Leave, if you don’t have any medicinal herbs, don’t come in and disturb me.” Although the Elder still indicated for Qin Yichen to leave and his somewhat hoarse voice still revealed coldness, there was less impatience in it.

“Sir, perhaps I can help you.” As Qin Yichen spoke, his fingers reached into his chest robe and took out his Alchemy Master Medal. [It would be great if I can form a connection with such a powerful expert.]

The Elder’s gaze fell on the medal, and although a hint of surprise flashed across his face, he quickly returned to indifference. “First and foremost, one must know one’s limitations!”

[What does it matter if you are a genius? It was not like I hadn’t seen geniuses before!]

“Sir, do you not believe that I can eliminate the… Heat Poison in your body?”

Regarding this strange Elder, Qin Yichen could not help but raise his eyebrows. He directly pulled over a stool, sat down, and looked at the Elder with interest.
