Alchemy Master

Chapter 68, Arrival

In the silent Black Demon Mountain Range, Master Zhang’s herb-collecting team walked quietly. Pairs of vigilant eyes constantly scanned the dark areas around the trees. The mercenaries’ hands tightly gripped the weapons at their waists, ready to respond to any sudden ambushes.

The mercenaries who could join Master Zhang’s herb-collecting team were mostly veteran mercenaries who had been in the Black Demon Mountain Range for many years. Although many were working together for the first time, they could still maintain basic tacit understanding.

Familiar hand gestures constantly conveyed the surrounding situation.

Qin Yichen walked in the middle-rear position of the team. He had no interest in currying favor with Master Zhang, who was guarded in the center by everyone.

A Level 1 Alchemy Master in his forties really did not mean much in his eyes.

They had been in the Black Demon Mountain Range for some time, and everything seemed very calm. However, just as the team entered the outer region of the Black Demon Mountain Range, they were suddenly ambushed by a small group of Demonic Beasts.

The attackers were two Level 1 Demonic Beasts called Double Ring Snakes.

Double Ring Snakes were quite common in the outer regions of the Black Demon Mountain Range. Although they were only Level 1 Demonic Beasts, they were highly poisonous snakes and were extremely agile. If someone poisoned was not treated within half a day, their blood would be frozen by the potent poison, leading to death.

If Double Ring Snakes had the strength of Tigers and Wolves, they would definitely be comparable to Level 2 Demonic Beasts.

Due to their poison, the Martial Master mercenaries dared not be careless when facing them.

However, these two Double Ring Snakes hung from tree branches, moving through the dense leaves. Taking advantage of the mercenaries’ unpreparedness below, as they struck like lightning, easily biting into two mercenaries.

After the attack, everyone angrily struck back. In just a moment, the two Double Ring Snakes were chopped into meat paste, and the two poisoned mercenaries received antidotes from Master Zhang.

This was one of the top reasons why many mercenaries wanted to follow Master Zhang into the Black Demon Mountain Range.

After the Double Ring Snake attacked, the mercenary team, having learned a small lesson, became even more cautious and careful.

However, in the Black Demon Mountain Range, filled with Demonic Beasts, it was obviously impossible to completely avoid them.

In a short distance of about a thousand metres, the team have to go through three waves of Demonic Beast ambushes. Fortunately, this was only the outer region, and the Demonic Beasts were of lower levels. With the large number of mercenaries, at the cost of several mercenaries being injured, these Demonic Beasts were all driven back or killed.

They even collected the carcasses of the slain Demonic Beasts.

No matter what Demonic Beast it was, the skin, fur, and meat could all be exchanged for silver coins. This was also the reason why so many people came here to take risks.

Without a good Family background or good talent, they could only rely on such methods to earn silver coins.

If they were lucky and found one or two good Spirit Herbs to sell at a good price, they could even settle down in a small city.

Although he was in the middle-rear of the team, Qin Yichen could not avoid participating in a battle. However, in a direct confrontation with a Level 2 Demonic Beast, he ended up with his palm getting numb, losing some sensation.

Nevertheless, the strength Qin Yichen displayed made the surrounding mercenaries look at him with new eyes.

It should be noted that although Level 2 Demonic Beasts were equivalent to Martial Masters, Demonic Beasts were born wild and had thick skin and flesh. Many factors would lead to Martial Masters falling prey to Level 2 Demonic Beasts.

“Little Brother, you’re remarkable. To actually withstand a hit from the Yellow Tiger known for its strength.”

“*Tsk tsk,* so strong at such a young age, your future achievements will be beyond what we can aspire to.”

The cheers from the surrounding mercenaries caused a small commotion in the team. Almost everyone looked at Qin Yichen, who wore a bamboo hat and seemed somewhat mysterious.

In such a dangerous place, as long as one displayed strength that caught other’s attention, they would gain the their recognition. This was just how things worked.

In response to their praises, Qin Yichen just smiled casually and continued to silently follow the team, heading towards Black Wood Cliff.

After advancing for about four hours, the mercenary team had entered the depths of the outer region. A little further in, they would approach the middle region of the Black Demon Mountain Range.

At this point, Master Zhang in the middle of the team slowly spoke, “Everyone, Black Wood Cliff is not far ahead. We’ve been walking for a long time, and everyone is tired. Let’s rest here first. I’ll return with my two servants after collecting herbs.”

Hearing Master Zhang’s words, many mercenaries nodded. Many of them had come to collect herbs with Master Zhang before. They all knew that Black Wood Cliff was a dangerous area close to the middle region. If they made too much noise there, and a Level 3 Demonic Beast came out from the middle region, they might all get wiped out.

The fewer people who went to Black Wood Cliff, the better.

They could also use the time while Master Zhang was collecting herbs to do their own things, such as looking for medicinal herbs or hunting a few Low Level Demonic Beasts to earn some extra money.

After watching Master Zhang leave with two Martial Masters, the many mercenaries dispersed.

Qin Yichen only started moving after they had left for some distance. However, he did not move quickly and did not follow directly behind them. He did not want to be discovered and cause any misunderstandings.

The two Martial Master guards protecting Master Zhang obviously did not notice that someone was following behind. Their attention was completely focused on their surroundings and the front.

After advancing for about another quarter of an hour, they encountered another Demonic Beast ambush. However, under the protection of these two experienced experts, it didn’t cause any harm to Master Zhang.

Soon, a cliff appeared ahead.

It was a very peculiar place. The lush shrubs around seemed unable to extend there.

On top of the cliff, there was a flat ground where medicinal herbs grew. In this quite wide area of flat ground. Various medicinal herbs grew here. Upon entering this area, the fragrant scent of herbs floated in the air, making people feel relaxed and happy with just one breath.

The other side of the cliff was a sea of fog, appearing very blurry, making it impossible to see clearly what existed in that misty sea.

[I’m finally here!] Qin Yichen did not pay much attention to those medicinal herbs on the flat ground. His gaze went directly to the cliff, a hint of joy flashing in his eyes.

Everyone said that below Black Wood Cliff was Hell, just death with no life!

However, Qin Yichen did not think so.

Back then, in his previous life, he was driven to a desperate situation. He was forced off the cliff by the pursuing Demonic Beasts and he had discovered the secret of the Black Wood Cliff.
