Alchemy Master

Chapter 57, A Foolproof Plan

In the depths of the Lin Family Mansion, after hearing Hei Gui’s explanation, Lin Huarong’s expression kept changing, showing regret, worry, and most of all, anger.

“Brother Lin, and I think, the poison you’ve been afflicted with is very suspicious, it’s likely that Aoqing…”

“That unfilial Son! How dare he, how dare he… *cough cough…*” Lin Huarong was so angry his chest tightened, immediately coughing up blood. His entire being became weak again.

“Family Head, please be careful of your health…”

“Brother Lin, now is not the time to get angry.”

Hei Gui and the two Elders were all trying to persuade him.

“Lin Aoqing, Lin Aoqing, I never thought this old man would raise such an ungrateful Wolf! A Son that eats people without spitting out their bones!” After a long while, Lin Huarong finally caught his breath. His tightly clenched fist slammed onto the bed as he roared, “Help me out! Today, I want to personally clean house!”

Hearing his angry shout, the two Elders hurriedly came forward to support him, but Qin Yichen, who had already adjusted himself, walked over and stopped them.

Stopped by him, the two Elders paused, somewhat puzzled.

“Little Brother, don’t stop me. I, Lin Huarong, won’t forget your kindness, but this is my Lin Family’s internal affairs. I hope you won’t interfere.” Looking at the youth in front of him, Lin Huarong frowned, his tone very firm.

“Lin Aoqing is no longer someone you can clean up as you wish.” Qin Yichen’s mouth curled up, his words not without sarcasm. [As the saying goes, ‘you reap what you sow’. The bitter fruit you brewed, you have to swallow yourself!]

“Brother Lin, in the current Lin Family, except for us old men, everyone else is already under Lin Aoqing…” Hei Gui sighed.

It was not that they did not want to manage the Lin Family, but their hearts were all focused on Lin Huarong. They have been solely trying to find a way to detoxify and treat him. They had no spare energy to manage those trivial matters. They had not realised that this was exactly what Lin Aoqing wanted.

Now, all the Lin Family’s businesses, all sources of income, have been replaced by Lin Aoqing’s people.

Lin Aoqing’s wings have hardened. If they directly break ties, the Lin Family would definitely collapse because of this, leaving them with just an empty shell.

“Such a Family, it’s better to abandon it!” Unexpectedly, Hei Gui’s persuasion made Lin Huarong even more furious.

One ungrateful Wolf suddenly turned into a pack! He would be a ghost if he was not angry.

“Of course you don’t care, you’re the number one expert in Spreading Cloud City, of course no one can do anything to you. But have you thought about Lin Aotian, you other Son? What if whatever remnants of Lin Aoqing’s faction vents their anger on him?” Qin Yichen spoke again, his words leaving Lin Huarong speechless.

If they could not catch all of Lin Aoqing’s followers in one net, there would indeed be endless troubles.

Since this concerned Lin Aotian’s safety, Lin Huarong calmed down and turned to look at Hei Gui, “Old Hei, what do you think we should do?”

“Brother Lin, I think you’d better pretend not to know about Aotian’s matters for now. For now, we should proceed as per normal. We should celebrate your recovery, and coincidentally, your seventieth birthday is in three days. Why not hold a birthday banquet!? When all his people are gathered, naturally we can catch them all in one net. Even if a few small fries are left, they can’t cause much trouble. That way, there would be nothing to worry about.”

Coming up with such a clever plan in such a short time, Qin Yichen really saw Hei Gui in a new light. [Is this still that drunkard? He’s clearly someone shrewd, so shrewd that even I feel a chill down my spine.]

“I never thought that after being in a coma for over ten years, I, Lin Huarong, would be seventy…” Lin Huarong was somewhat emotional, but for him a Martial Grandmaster, seventy was just considered middle-aged, “Alright. Let’s do as you say.”

His body was still quite weak, it was good to take this opportunity to rest and recuperate.

“Father, Father…” Just then, a series of hurried footsteps came from outside the door, Lin Aoqing’s anxious yet joyful voice could be heard.

“Old Master Lin, your good Son has come to see you. I’ll take my leave. When you’ve recovered enough, call me over again.”

Qin Yichen gave a meaningful look at Lin Huarong, who had red eyes with anger. Qin Yichen put on his bamboo hat and was once again shrouded in a black robe.

“Brother Lin, remember to restrain yourself!” Hei Gui earnestly advised, and Lin Huarong’s face changed. He immediately became extremely weak and lifeless again.

This did not seem like an act, in fact, he was really very weak now and did not need to pretend.

“The Family Head is recuperating, you can’t go in!”

Outside the door, the Third Elder guarding the door stopped Lin Aoqing, his tone cold.

Hearing the title ‘Family Head’, a flash of hidden resentment passed through Lin Aoqing’s eyes, but this expression was well hidden by him. It went unnoticed by them.

“Third Elder, Fourth Elder, Shiyun passed by and heard that Father’s condition has improved. Let me in quickly to see him. Father has been in a coma for over ten years, all the big and small matters of the Lin Family have been shouldered by me alone these years. It’s really exhausting…” Lin Aoqing directly burst into tears, his face full of grievance.

If someone did not know the truth, they would really think he had suffered great injustice.

However, it was precisely because of his godlike acting skills that he gained Lin Huarong’s high regard.

“*Cough cough…* let him in.” Just as the two Elders were about to continue blocking him, a weak voice came from inside the room.

Hearing this voice, Lin Aoqing’s body involuntarily trembled. [He actually woke up! And he is lucidly awake!]

*Creak!* At this moment, the door opened, and Hei Gui led Qin Yichen, who was under the black robe, out of the room.

“Wait!” As they passed by, Lin Aoqing suddenly came to his senses and could not help but call out.

“Hmm?!” Hei Gui frowned, his eyes glaring at Lin Aoqing.

Others might indulge Lin Aoqing, but he, Hei Gui, certainly would not!

“Uh… well, is this the benefactor who cured my Father? Uncle Hei, I’d like to invite the benefactor to stay in our Lin Family Mansion for a few days, to express our gratitude.” Lin Aoqing’s gaze kept scanning Qin Yichen’s black robe, as if trying to see through it to uncover the face inside.

However, he was obviously going to be disappointed again. This black robe was specially prepared by Qin Yichen, all he could see was just a blurry shadow.

“We’ll talk about it another day, I’m a bit tired today.” A somewhat old and obscure voice came from under the black robe. Soon, Qin Yichen left without looking back, fully displaying a Master’s aloofness.

[Damn it! Where did that old thing come from!?] Hearing the somewhat aged voice, Lin Aoqing cursed inwardly. Nevertheless, he still put on a fake smile and walked in.
