THE GOD EATER

After boasting to everyone within earshot, he placed his hand on the gray pillar. As soon as the palm of his hand made contact with the pillar, it lit up and rings began appearing on it.

There were white and black rings. They rose from the bottom of the pillar to its top, like how mercury in a thermometer would behave when it was working.

At first, the rings appeared quickly. They lit up in a flash and sped up to reach the top. But after a few seconds, the rings slowed down in their appearance. They slowed down until more rings stopped appearing completely.

For this fellow, only 170 white rings appeared, not the 313 rings he had just calculated and the Power Identification Ability had confirmed. So of the 286 years of lifespan that he should have gained from the Olympic Sect, only half of it was real.

Apparently, he had only gained an extra 143 years of lifespan, and the Power Identification Ability had been lying to him. As for the black rings, 188 rings showed up, of which 61 of them were reddish.

This cultivator didn’t know whether the Entropy reading was right or wrong, but he no longer trusted the Olympic Sect anyway, so it didn’t really matter.

His hands fell away from the gray stake in shock as he said, ”No way. This can’t be real.”

He couldn’t believe what just happened, so he placed his hand against the pillar again to see if the first reading was a mistake. Unfortunately, the same 170 white rings and 188 black rings showed up.

By how, everyone watching who wasn’t a member of the Olympic Sect was already laughing. They laughed in mockery, and since he had called a lot of people to watch him, many were now laughing at him.

Their laughter quickly became too much for him. He stumbled backward for a while in disbelief. Then he turned and ran away in shame.

Only the disciples of the Olympic Sect were not laughing. Their hearts went cold when they saw the result, and they were not in the mood to laugh. Especially since this matter concerned them.

”There has to be a mistake somewhere.”

”Maybe it is just a fluke.”

”Or something could be wrong with that guy.”

None of them wanted to believe this problem was sect-wide and had affected everyone in the Olympic Sect. So they were still hopeful as they went up to the gray pillar to check their lifespan.

Unfortunately, every disciple of the Olympic Sect who went up to any gray stake to check their lifespan discovered that they had been cheated. Some of them only had 30% of the lifespan they should have gained, making it worse than the first man.

In fact, the first man’s situation turned out to be the best. The maximum lifespan the disciples of the Olympic Sect found was only 50%. Some were as bad as 10%. The rest of the lifespan that the Power Identification Metac showed them was fake.

It was basically confirmed that the Olympic Sect had been cheating its disciples. The only good news was that every other sect, including the Apex Sect, had also been cheating their disciples.

The bad news was that the widespread cheating made everyone angry, and they began attacking sect personnel and destroying sect establishments in anger. In their anger, many people from the Apex Sect swarmed the unicorn to kill it.

The unicorn couldn’t believe what had happened. It kept saying, ”This is defamation. The Apex God would never cheat you. The Life Meters are fake.”

But no one listened to it. They wanted blood for being cheated, and they wanted that blood as soon as possible.

Their anger was particularly extreme because they were the most cheated among the sects. At least the disciples of the Olympic Sect had extra lifespan. Most of them in the Apex God had less lifespan than they started with before joining the sect.

Apparently, not only had the Apex God been lying to them about how much lifespan boost they were receiving, but he had also been taking their lifespan. He had stolen up to 90% of most of their lifespan, so he was a complete and irredeemable thief worthy of death many times over.

No matter what explanation the unicorn tried to give, all the mob said was, ”Kill! Kill! Kill!”

Of course, none of them was a threat to the unicorn. It was a rank 6 World King, so it was able to escape from them easily while pretending to be disheveled.

After escaping, the unicorn reached out to its god and told him about the result of the testing.

In response, the Apex God roared angrily, saying, ”It is saying that I stole 90% of their lifespan? That’s a lie.”

”Those Life Value Meters are lying. They have been tampered with to make me look bad.”

”I knew it was a lie,” the unicorn said with confidence. ”But what do I do now?*

The Apex God gritted his teeth and said, ”I will get accurate Life Value Meters and use them to show the world that they are wrong.”

”Yes, my god. That’s a good idea,” the unicorn said, excited.

”Stay safe for now. I will send the accurate Life Value Meters soon,c he said before cutting off the communication channel.

Then he slapped his palm into the ground in anger. His large clawed palm shattered the ground, creating a crater on impact.

The Apex God was a large, two-headed bear with six limbs, as big as a world. He was also a powerful six-star celestial, so it wasn’t a surprise that he cracked the white ground of the upper realm with a hit.

He was truly angry this time. He felt malign, framed, and defamed. There were just too many things he was angry about concerning this fiasco of the Life Value Meter.

”What kind of nonsense is this? I only took 50%,” he said in anger.
