THE GOD EATER

Her voice was full of excitement as she said, “With the help of a reincarnated being, I will surely be able to earn enough merit points to get that secret recipe for rank 5 Metac. Even if he only has to give me one city, I will just make sure that all of the warriors attack that singular city, so he will have to help me clear out most of the obstacles to my conquest of this small world.”

The more she spoke, the more excited she became. Even her eyes were shining with excitement.

She said, “Who says rank 5 beings are difficult to deal with? As long as you give them what they want, they will help you.”

“Speaking of help, I need to hand Greg over to Lady Red. With him as a gift, she will definitely help me get a natural wonder. So rank 5 is just in sight.”

This wonderful future opened up to her and caused her eyes to gleam and her fists to clench in excitement. She is very excited because she has been looking forward to this for a long time.

Unlike the nouveau riche like the Rein Family, she belongs to an old family that has established itself in the Four Directions Sect for a long time. So even though no one in her family has ever become a divine being, many of them have come close to achieving it.

They may have failed to produce a divine being, but their ancient history has granted them immense knowledge about the world of cultivation and a lot of connections with powerful people. This is why she knows how to advance to rank 5 and how she was able to get this cushy grade 5 mission.

In this small world, there is only one grade 5 mission, and it belongs to the rank of commander. Not just anyone can get it. She had to cash in a lot of favors to get it.

But even after getting this grade 5 mission, she hasn’t been able to earn any grade 5 merit points in her six years as the commander. This is because grade 5 merit points are not acquired through killing enemies, but only through the profitability of the entire battlefield.

Only when this small battlefield is producing more revenue in the form of recruited souls than the loss in the form of manpower sent to fight under her command in the Earthly Battlefield.

So the more she recruits soldiers and the more those soldiers die, the less her chance of earning grade 5 merit points. Since the Four Directions Sect has been on the back foot all along, it has been impossible for her to earn grade 5 merit points.

And the longer the Four Directions Sect remains on the back foot, the more difficult it will be for it to earn grade 5 merit points. Then, once the battlefield reaches a certain level of loss, she will have to start paying the sect for each life lost in the battlefield.

After all, someone has to pay the value of the lives of the cultivators who came here to die for the sect. That someone can’t be the sect if this battlefield is a loss. The sect never suffers a loss in anything, which leaves only one person left to take the fall. That person is the one calling all the shots on the battlefield.

So her job as a commander is not an easy job at all. It may not be as dangerous as fighting on the Heavenly Battlefield, but if things don’t work out for her, she can become mired in too much debt or even lose her life.

This is why she doesn’t like to request reinforcement all the time and prefers to run around protecting the cities under her control by herself. It is so that she can lower her operational cost.

Her need to increase the profitability of the battlefield is why she so desperately wants to push the front lines and gain control of a lot of cities.

Unfortunately, that plan hasn’t been working out so well. If there is someone to blame for this, it is Greg.

When she thought of Greg, she couldn’t help but sneer and say, “I have spared that loud mouth for so long because I want to cash him in for a worthwhile reward. Now that I have a replacement on hand, I can go ahead and start working on contacting buyers for his life.”

“As for the time that it will take my new trump card to be ready, I am willing to wait 10 years if it means I will be able to reincarnate when I die. Anything is worth it to reach rank 5.”

Even as she was speaking, she was already using her token to reach out to potential buyers for Greg’s mutated Life Ability. Lady Red is her top choice because she is an easy-going rank 5 lady who is said to have only recently become a rank 5 in this life.

Lady Red is talented and surely would be willing to pay any price to avoid wasting her prime opportunity to get a mutated Life Ability. But even if Lady Red isn’t interested, Amelia can contact other people who would be interested.

While she was doing this, she urged the bear beneath her to rush towards the nearest city. Apparently, that city is already being attacked, and they need reinforcement.

This is what she does every day. She goes around the front line, reinforcing cities and helping them push back the warriors of the Martial Body Sect. She has to do this because she doesn’t have enough manpower to assist her.

Of course, the lack of manpower is not the sect’s fault. It can’t be the sect’s fault because the Four Directions Sect is the strongest sect in the Blessed Heaven World.

The Four Directions Sect has the most pathways under its control, and even one pathway alone, the pathway of slavery, can take on many pathways on its own because an Enslavement Cultivator is usually a one-man army.
