The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

After Jiang An finished his analysis, the meeting room again fell into silence, so quiet that you could almost hear the sound of breathing.

It must be noted that regarding the nature of death in this case, the task force had conducted multiple and multi-layered discussions in the earlier stages, among which the most widely accepted hypothesis was based on the motive of ”hatred murder.”

Imagine a horrifying family massacre; if it did not originate from some deep-seated hatred, how else could it result in such a tragic outcome with multiple deaths?

This hatred is by no means a common grievance; it must be a deep-seated enmity ingrained in the soul.

In fact, over the past several years, the municipal bureau had reopened the investigation several times, consistently focusing on this motive, deploying significant manpower and resources, and investigating all people potentially connected to the deceased, yet they were never able to find a breakthrough, leading to long-term stagnation in the case.

Therefore, when Jiang An presented a fresh perspective, those present did not immediately rebut or question him as usual.

Besides the intrinsic value of his propositions, the more crucial reason for this was the rigorous logic and deep insights Jiang An had demonstrated in his previous analyses, which had profoundly impressed most attendees.

The layered progression of his reasoning and his keen grasp of details led them to adopt a cautiously open attitude towards his subsequent discourse.

After approximately 2 minutes of silence, Zhang Biao finally spoke slowly, ”Mr. Jiang, indeed, in the initial phase of this case, we concentrated our investigation around the ’hatred motive’, dedicating the most effort.”

”As for the other possibility you mentioned earlier—slayings triggered by emotional disputes, we did investigate this angle initially.”

”However, investigations revealed that the young couple had been married for less than two years, with a relatively stable emotional foundation.”

”We interviewed both the couple’s social circles and relatives extensively. They were both ordinary rural youths from the area with relatively simple social relationships, and there was no record of entanglement in others’ marriages or complex emotional disputes.”

”Additionally, it was the first marriage for both parties, with fairly straightforward pre-marital emotional histories.”

”For these reasons, at that time, there was no further basis to pursue the emotional dispute angle.”

Upon saying this, Director Lu picked up the thread, adding further explanation, ”Mr. Jiang, regarding whether there were any other emotional entanglements involving these two individuals, we indeed dedicated substantial effort to a thorough investigation.”

”We carried out detailed work, including interviewing nearby relatives and friends, scrutinizing communication records, and mapping out their social trajectories.”

”But to date, none of the investigative feedback has indicated any anomalies; one could say no substantial progress has been made.”

As they finished speaking, a low murmur of discussion arose within the meeting room.

Attendees leaned in to share whispers, their expressions manifesting thoughtful agreement.

Evidently, the preliminary conclusions put forth by the two leaders resonated with most present, deeming this direction reasonable.

At this moment, Jiang An calmly scanned the meeting room and then spoke steadily, ”The views proposed earlier are merely conjectures based on existing information, representing my initial analytical direction.”

”The specific conclusions still require solid follow-up investigation and evidence collection to ultimately be determined.”

”However, regarding the motive of ’hatred murder’, it indeed holds possibility. And if one delves further, the evolution of a hatred triggered by emotional disputes leading to extreme consequences—this logical chain, I believe, should not be overlooked.”

Noting his modest tone and meticulous analysis, Zhang Biao and Director Lu exchanged glances and nodded slightly in agreement.

Zhang Biao then earnestly said, ”In that case, let us incorporate this line of thought as a significant reference into our discussion records.”

”After the meeting, we can deploy further investigation along this direction and conduct targeted sweeps, striving to uncover new leads or verification points.”

At this point, Director Hou also spoke composedly, ”Mr. Jiang’s proposed possibility deserves our serious attention and in-depth exploration.”

”The reason being, I also participated in analyzing this case early on, and our initial reasoning about the motive primarily centered around two scenarios: one, a deep-seated resentment between the parties, inciting a strong sense of revenge in the perpetrator, ultimately culminating in a massacre; or two, a botched burglary escalating into a robbery-murder.”

”As it stands, the likelihood of the first scenario is indeed higher, yet we cannot entirely dismiss the second scenario—after all, the crime scene did show signs of missing property, though specific items and loss quantities are difficult to accurately determine due to scene conditions.”

Director Hou’s words appeared highly cautious and balanced, neither clearly negating Jiang An’s perspective nor directly affirming it, simply emphasizing the current insufficiency of evidence and the need for further collection and verification to make a more accurate judgment.

Five minutes later, Jiang An spoke again, ”I just addressed the second issue—my preliminary personal analysis of the motive.”

”Next, I’d like to discuss some views on the investigation direction of this case.”

With that, he directed his gaze towards the ponytail-haired female officer operating the projector, ”Senior, please bring up the comprehensive scene diagram for this case.”

Before he could finish speaking, the female officer swiftly moved the mouse and projected a clear and complete on-screen view of the crime scene onto the large screen.
