The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

minutes later, Qin Feng and the intern arrived at the deceased’s doorstep.

The village chief had already contacted the deceased’s parents in advance and invited them to the door.

The two elderly people walked over unsteadily, their eyes filled with exhaustion and sorrow.

The door slowly opened, revealing a two-story house with a yard.

The courtyard was tidy, with faint traces of flowers and plants that had once been carefully tended.

The entire house exuded a sense of tranquility and warmth, in stark contrast to the sorrow permeating the air at the moment.

Qin Feng turned to the two elders, speaking in a low and sincere tone, ”We are deeply saddened by what has happened. Please accept our deepest condolences and take care of yourselves.”

As soon as he spoke, the two elders could no longer hold back their emotions and immediately began to weep.

They choked out, ”He was our only son...now that he’s gone, how are we supposed to live...”

The village chief gently consoled from the side, ”You must try to stay strong; you still have a grandson, after all.”

”He is your son’s own flesh and blood. It’s also your son’s wish for him to grow up well, isn’t it?”

”If you falter too, what will happen to this child?”

These words caused the two elders to break down again, sobbing as they supported each other.

Qin Feng quietly watched them, feeling a deep sense of compassion well up within him.

Having worked in criminal investigation for many years, he had witnessed far too many tragedies and separations. Yet each time he faced the families experiencing such loss, his initial sympathy and sense of responsibility were still profoundly touched.

He took a deep breath and said solemnly, ”Uncle, Aunt, please rest assured. We will do everything in our power to find the real culprit and seek justice for your son, so that he may rest in peace.”

”Thank you, thank you... please catch the killer as soon as possible...”

The elderly couple continually wiped their tears and expressed their thanks.

Upon entering the house, the village chief followed behind them, respectfully asking, ”Officers, is there anything else you need help with?”

Qin Feng waved his hand in response, ”Not for the time being. Please wait in the yard for a moment.”

”The scene investigation needs to be conducted according to procedure, and there must be unrelated personnel present as witnesses.”

”The family members need to temporarily step aside, and you, as the village chief, are the most suitable person to be present.”

The village chief heard this, smiled, and replied heartily, ”No problem, as long as I can assist you in solving this case.”

”I don’t mind accompanying your investigation for a day, even ten days or half a month, it’s worth it!”

Qin Feng’s mouth twitched slightly, as if he wanted to say something but swallowed it back. He then turned and immersed himself into the meticulous scene investigation.

This was a slightly old two-story house, with three rooms on the ground floor and likewise three rooms on the second floor.

The first floor had a compact layout, consisting of a living room, a bedroom, a bathroom, and a kitchen in sequence.

The second floor had four bedrooms, with a somewhat cramped structure.

Qin Feng moved from the first to the second floor, gently pushing open each door, his gaze sweeping across every corner like a scanner.

He carefully examined the arrangement of the furniture, the condition of the floor, even checking if the curtains were tidy and if there were stains on the walls, not missing any clues.

However, even after opening the last room, he still found nothing.

The interior of the entire house was unusually calm, with no traces of disorder from a struggle, nor any signs of items being rummaged through or taken.

The furniture was arranged neatly, the floor was clean, as if someone had just painstakingly organized it.

Aside from the desolate feeling of emptiness in the air, there was almost no sense of anything unusual.

After completing a round of investigation, Qin Feng returned to the doorway.

His hands were in his pockets, his gaze once again resting on the silent structure, his brow gradually furrowing.

The excessively orderly scene instead made him suspicious—was this really the original state of living, or a result of someone meticulously arranging the aftermath?

He recalled some cases that occurred within families, where the scene was often not a blood-soaked mess.

On the contrary, some suspects would calmly clean the scene after committing a crime, covering up traces and creating a façade of ”everything is normal...”

Just as he was immersed in this hypothesis, a sudden ring from his phone broke the silence around him. The caller ID showed ”Jiang An.”

Qin Feng took out his phone, glanced at the screen, and then pressed the answer button: ”Hello, Mr. Jiang, we are at the deceased’s house.”

On the other end came Jiang An’s steady voice, ”Is there anything unusual at the house?”

”Nothing apparent so far,”

Qin Feng reported truthfully, ”Every room has been thoroughly checked, and there are no signs of struggle or damage.”

”The indoor items are neatly placed, the floor is clean, with no bloodstains or other suspicious marks.”

Jiang An was silent for a moment as if he was considering something, then carefully asked, ”Do you think there’s any possibility that the first crime scene might actually still be indoors?”

When asked this question, Qin Feng suddenly became more alert, his expression turning serious.

He pondered briefly, then replied in a steady and clear tone, ”For now, we have tentatively identified this place as the initial crime scene.”

”However, based on the current evidence, there is no clear indication that can fully support this judgment.”

He paused briefly then followed up, ”What about the findings on the bodies? Any special discoveries?”

Jiang An nodded, ”According to our preliminary autopsy results on the deceased, we can confirm that the male victim was thrown into the water after he had already died.”

”Meanwhile, the female victim’s condition is consistent with drowning.”

”However, it’s worth noting that neither of the victims had obvious mechanical injuries on their bodies.”
