The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Twenty minutes later, Jiang An raised his hand to pat Jiang Feng and Wan on the shoulders, indicating a pause in the interrogation.

They immediately understood and followed him out of the room into the quiet hallway.

Unable to suppress his curiosity, Wan lowered his voice and asked, ”Mr. Jiang, is there a new plan for suddenly stopping the interrogation?”

Jiang An turned around, his expression grave, and said calmly, ”Let him go!”

”Let him go?”

The sentence left Wan and Jiang Feng stunned, their faces full of disbelief.

They had just brought back a highly suspicious individual, only to release him in the blink of an eye?

Jiang Feng stepped forward, furrowing his brow and asked, ”Are you sure?”

”We put a lot of effort into bringing him in.”

Jiang An said in a deep voice, ”He’s not the killer we’re looking for.”

”Although I believe he may have some connection with the girl who was burned to death at home, he doesn’t match our profile of the killer’s characteristics.”

He paused briefly, his eyes sweeping over the two of them, and continued, ”Firstly, Wu Guang is about 1.75 meters tall but extremely thin, likely due to long overtime hours at the electronics factory.”

”Back at the crime scene, we saw a victim with multiple stab wounds to the chest.”

”If the killer attacked upon entering, given that the victim was physically strong, it would have been difficult for someone so frail to carry out such a lethal assault.”

He further explained, ”Secondly, I specially observed Wu Guang’s body earlier — there were no stab wounds or any traces of a struggle.”

”This is critically important.”

”You have to know, the strength a person exhibits at the moment of life and death is remarkable; the victim couldn’t have possibly not resisted.”

”If he really committed the crime, it’s hard to imagine there being no physical confrontation between them.”

Jiang Feng chimed in thoughtfully, ”So you mean, in terms of physical condition and evidence of wounds, he doesn’t align with what a suspect should be like?”

Jiang An nodded solemnly, ”Exactly.”

”The killer should be stronger or at least have some struggle marks left by the victim.”

”But Wu Guang—he’s too ’clean.’”

”Although he has a certain motive for the crime, looking at behavior and psychological profiling, there’s a significant gap between his actions and our initial estimates of the suspect’s violent tendencies and style, making it difficult to fully match.”

After listening, Wan slightly nodded and responded steadily, ”Indeed.”

He then asked, ”Could we consider another possibility?”

”For example, the suspect did not act alone?”

”If the crime was committed by multiple people working together, say two or three partners, wouldn’t it be reasonable for one of them to have no marks or traces on their body?”

Upon hearing this, Jiang An’s face became serious, and he slowly nodded, ”We cannot rule out this possibility.”

”Multiple participants in a crime are not uncommon in criminal history, and division of labor and cooperation often avoid the flaws left by a single individual.”

”However, from the clues currently in hand, we haven’t found any clear indications of others involved in the crime.”

”The scene traces, the chain of physical evidence, so far do not point to reliable evidence of collaborative crime.”

The three stood silently in the hallway, the atmosphere momentarily dipping into brief silence.

A moment later, Wan spoke in a serious tone, ”Mr. Jiang, you are our core, and we all trust your judgment.”

”You lead the way, and we will definitely follow through with all our strength.”

Jiang An smiled faintly, his tone gentle yet firm, ”Thank you for your trust, but we are a team, and solving cases relies on drawing on collective wisdom and gathering diverse perspectives.”

”Everyone’s judgment and speculation are crucial.”

After a pause, his voice gradually lowered, ”However, regarding this case, I do have a preliminary idea.”

”Oh? Please share.”

Wan and Jiang Feng responded almost simultaneously.

”In this case, should we further broaden our investigative scope?”

”Besides investigating the girl’s online social connections, are there unnoticed infatuations or abnormal emotional entanglements in her real life?”

”These emotional dynamics hidden beneath the surface often trigger extreme behavior more easily.”

”Next, we should undertake a more comprehensive and meticulous investigation, focusing on uncovering clues in her real-life emotions.”

”Understood!”

Jiang An continued, ”Additionally, regarding Wu Guang’s earlier provided ’alibi,’ especially concerning his and the deceased’s hotel stay the day before, we need to verify it rigorously.”

”If the hotel records, surveillance footage, and other objective evidence can confirm his account, then his suspicion can basically be ruled out.”

”Understood, I’ll immediately coordinate to obtain the hotel’s surveillance footage and cross-check against the time periods he mentioned.”

Soon, Wan and Jiang Feng each led a team into action.

Both had now become capable lieutenants under Jiang An, forming the backbone of the entire criminal investigation unit.

On the path to fighting crime and upholding justice, there are always frontline investigators like them silently carrying the burden forward.

And Wan and Jiang Feng are excellent representatives among these unsung heroes.

Wan led the team to the hotel involved in the case, fully retrieving surveillance materials and conducting precise checks.

Meanwhile, Jiang Feng once again led a team into the deceased’s school, conducting a second round of thorough visits and inquiries.

Of course, this investigation not only covered her current school but extended to all the schools she had attended and off-campus training institutions, striving to leave no stone unturned, fully restoring her social relationships and emotional trajectories.
