The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Wan sneered, ”Then why did you run when you saw us? Let me tell you, we have evidence of your six-month relationship with her—there’s no point in trying to deny it!”

Wu Guang finally stopped arguing, just slightly lowered his head, shrouded in a haze of silence.

Wan leaned slightly forward, his gaze piercing, his tone laden with undeniable pressure, ”I advise you to be honest.”

”We already have enough clues and evidence, or else we wouldn’t have invited you here so lightly.”

The cold fluorescent light in the interrogation room shone on Wu Guang’s face as he lowered his head, his fingers tightly interlocked.

After five minutes of silence, Wu Guang finally seemed to have all the strength drained from him, his shoulders slumped.

He raised his head, his eyes flickering as he spoke, ”Officers... I admit, Qianqian and I... indeed met online.”

”But we truly love each other! She’s still studying, there’s a bit of an age gap, but that’s really not an issue!”

Suddenly his tone turned excited, ”We share common interests and get along particularly well; it’s her parents... who stubbornly believe that I’m not good enough for her!”

Wan swiftly seized this breakthrough and immediately pressed on, ”So what? Just because her parents objected, you had to kill her entire family?”

”No! No!”

Wu Guang jerked his head up as if scalded, the color drained from his face instantly.

”I didn’t! I absolutely didn’t kill anyone!”

”How could I even think of killing someone? When I heard about their incident that day, I was completely stunned, I couldn’t believe it...”

His voice trembled, incoherently defending himself.

Qin Feng, who had been silently observing, suddenly spoke, his voice low yet highly intimidating, ”Then why did you run when you saw us today?”

”Like you saw a ghost, took off running.”

”If you have nothing to hide, who would believe it?”

Wu Guang gulped, fine beads of sweat forming on his forehead, ”I... ever since I heard about the case a few days ago, I’ve been on edge, afraid of being dragged into it.”

”Why were you afraid?”

His voice grew quieter, ”I was afraid that if this got exposed, it would have a bad impact on her, she’s still a student... and more afraid that if I couldn’t explain clearly, I would be treated as the murderer.”

”So when I saw you, my mind went blank, I instinctively ran... really, that’s it!”

”Just that simple?”

Qin Feng snorted coldly, his fingers tapping rhythmically on the table, producing an unsettling sound in the silence.

”Officer, everything I’ve said is the truth! You can check, you really can!” Wu Guang almost stood up in urgency.

”Then the night before last, where were you during the time of the crime?”

Qin Feng suddenly changed the topic, harshly questioning.

”I... I was in the dorm, sleeping there.”

Wu Guang noticeably hesitated.

”All by yourself?”

”Yes... all by myself.”

”Who can verify?”

”No one can... verify.”

Wu Guang’s gaze started to evade, ”It was a weekend, my roommates went home, and... the dorm doesn’t have surveillance.”

”Bang!” Qin Feng slammed the table, the sudden loud noise caused Wu Guang to shiver.

”I’m warning you, don’t play tricks here!”

”You’re not cherishing the chance to come clean, if we produce evidence, the situation will be completely different!”

Just when the interrogation reached a tense moment, Wan’s phone on the table suddenly vibrated.

The screen lit up, displaying the name Jiang An.

Wan quickly picked up the phone, ”Mr. Jiang!”

”...Yes, we are questioning suspect Wu Guang, he is the online boyfriend of the deceased’s daughter...”

”Extract his blood sample to compare with the male DNA found inside the deceased?”

”By the way, has the male DNA inside the deceased been fully tested?”

”Hmm, the test results are out, the key now is to find a matching DNA sample.”

”Okay, I will proceed immediately.”

After hanging up the phone, Wan swiftly took out a disposable blood collection needle, and adhered strictly to operational procedures to collect Wu Guang’s blood sample.

Later, he properly sealed the sample and immediately sent it to the genetic testing laboratory.

During the time the blood sample was being tested, the tension in the interrogation room remained high.

Wan and Qin Feng took turns questioning him, constantly changing their strategies, trying to breach Wu Guang’s psychological defenses.

However, whether they applied pressure or attempted to appeal emotionally, Wu Guang steadfastly clenched his jaws, only repeating denials, and revealed nothing more.

The interrogation reached an impasse, time quietly ticking away minute by minute.

About an hour later, Wan’s phone rang once more.

The screen displayed a familiar landline number— from the laboratory.

He quickly answered the call, ”Hello, please go ahead.”

A clear and calm voice transmitted from the other end, ”Brother Wan, we are from the genetic testing laboratory.”

”We just completed the comparison of the blood sample. The result shows that Wu Guang’s DNA matches the male DNA extracted from the deceased.”

”Okay, thank you very much.”

After hanging up, Wan’s gaze turned sharply. He looked at Wu Guang, his tone more assertive and pressing than before:

”You keep claiming no relation to the victim’s family, so why was your DNA found inside the deceased?”

”Did you first assault the victim’s daughter and then kill the entire family?”

Wu Guang’s face turned pale instantly, his voice trembling as he defended, ”I didn’t! Really, I didn’t! Please investigate thoroughly!”

”I... I only spent the previous afternoon with Qianqian at Yulu Hotel in a short-stay room...”

”We indeed had relations, but then parted ways! You can check, everything I’m saying is true!”
