The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Just as the salvage team’s members were entering the water one by one to begin operations, the police station chief, Li Dong, walked over to Jiang An with steady steps.

He said gravely, ”This section of the road has not been the first time such a traffic accident has occurred.”

”The road is narrow, and there are fish ponds on both sides.”

”There are neither guardrails installed nor any warning signs set up. When the lighting is poor at night, it’s extremely easy for accidents to happen.”

He then gave an awkward smile, ”We have already listed this as a key road section for rectification, and will soon install reflective markers and warning signs.”

”At least let drivers at night have a warning to prevent such tragedies of driving into the river.”

Just then, Old Huang, the captain of the Blue Star salvage team, also came over, wiping the water off his face while adding, ”Actually, even if there are no reflective signs for now, planting a few trees as temporary barriers first would do.”

”In a while, when they grow, they can provide some protective effect as well.”

”The key is to act quickly, rather than always reacting after accidents happen.”

Li Dong sighed, nodding in agreement: ”You’re right, there are many methods. The most important thing is to implement them properly.”

”After all, we can’t always be ’mending the fence after the sheep have gone.’

However, Jiang An, at this moment, was still concerned about the progress of the underwater salvage.

He nodded slightly, speaking calmly and composedly: ”These preventive measures certainly need to be done.”

”But right now, the most urgent thing is to properly handle this case of unnatural death first.”

”Once the body is retrieved, we need to quickly request residents nearby to identify it.”

”Whoever fell into this section of the river is most likely a local, and identification might be quick.”

The crowd nodded in agreement upon hearing this, turning their gazes to the riverbank.

There stood a few technicians, carefully surveying the site with cameras in hand.

Despite the clear tire marks on the riverbank, a trace slanting into the water could easily be seen, with the water grass newly crushed, all signs seemed to indicate an accidental fall into the water.

However, a question still lingered in Jiang An’s mind.

Were these traces really enough to conclude it was an accident?

Throughout his career as a criminal investigator, Jiang An had encountered similar incidents.

But he always believed that beneath every seemingly ordinary phenomenon, there might be another possibility beyond imagination hidden.

Such is the way of the world, the calmer the surface, the more likely undercurrents are swelling beneath.

minutes later, the salvage team slowly retrieved a body from the murky river and brought it to the riverbank.

The face of the deceased was slightly swollen from long submersion, but the facial features were still vaguely recognizable.

It was a middle-aged man with a square face and broad forehead, giving off a sense of determination.

Jiang An stepped forward calmly scanning the body, instructing steadily: ”Activate all community resources to thoroughly investigate this person’s identity.”

”It needs to be detailed and comprehensive, and we must promptly verify his basic information.”

Then, he turned to the forensic assistant beside him, adding: ”Examine closely whether he has a mobile phone, wallet, or any other means of identification.”

After speaking, he straightened up, eyes cast upon the river.

At this moment, a diver beneath the water was preparing to surface, but saw a motorcycle slowly emerging from the water.

The red motorcycle was covered in mud, and some parts were evidently deformed.

Police station chief Li Dong saw this, showing a slight bitter smile, shaking his head, ”You see, I told you, right?”

”In most cases like this, it’s drunken driving resulting in a loss of control and plunging into the river.”

”This bike doesn’t even have a license plate, clearly not a vehicle legally allowed on the road.”

However, just as everyone thought the case was becoming clear, a salvage team member below the water suddenly exclaimed: ”No—there’s another body here!”

”Another one?”

”Are you sure?”

”Don’t scare people!”

Captain Huang was instantly alert, his voice suddenly rising.

It wasn’t just him; even the usually composed chief, Li Dong, showed a change of expression.

He blurted out: ”Brother, you shouldn’t say such things lightly.”

”If it really is two bodies, then the situation becomes complicated.”

Speaking of which, two salvage team members quickly worked together below to slowly pull another body onto the bank.

The crowd fixed their eyes on it, only to find it was a female corpse, her long hair entangled.

In an instant, the air seemed to freeze.

All personnel on the scene looked at each other, with astonishment and confusion quickly spreading among them.

If it were just a case of intoxicated drowning, it could still be understood as an accident.

Now with both lives lost, and the circumstances mysterious.

Can it really be explained as a simple accident?

The case took a sudden turn, enveloped in layers of mystery.

At this moment, fine beads of sweat appeared on Li Dong’s forehead.

As the main person responsible in the district police station, he bore unshirkable responsibility for such a serious incident occurring under his jurisdiction.

If it were just a traffic accident causing one death, it might still be attributed to an accident, with manageable responsibility.

But once the number of deaths reached two, the situation became entirely different.

No matter the specific cause, he was likely to be held accountable by superiors for negligence or even face criminal liability.

Thinking of this, he couldn’t help but feel a heavy pressure.

He turned around, speaking gravely to Mr. Zhang beside him: ”Captain Zhang, this was indeed unexpected...”

Standing aside, Jiang An had his brows tightly furrowed, a serious look on his face.

He paused for a moment, then responded in a calm and firm voice: ”Let’s not rush, the immediate task is to manage the scene properly and complete the salvage work quickly.”

At this time, Captain Huang attempted to ease the atmosphere with a relaxed tone, interjecting: ”Actually, it’s not hard to understand, this motorcycle is large enough, it could very well have carried two people.”
