The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

”But after thinking it over, I believe it’s time for a major overhaul and adjustment of our criminal investigation team, including the leadership in charge and the team captain. This is also the moment for you and me to demonstrate the strength of our elite criminal investigation unit.”

”If we ask the provincial department for support now, regardless of whether they make an impact or not, the credit will inevitably go to them, and we won’t achieve the best outcome.”

Jiang An nodded after listening: ”Yes, Mr Li, your considerations are very thorough, and I completely agree.”

”Actually, regarding this case, I personally believe it can be ’handled’.”

Mr Li nodded after listening: ”Yes.”

Mr Li patted Jiang An’s shoulder: ”Then it’s hard work for you.”

”To be honest, it’s the first time I’ve encountered a case with four deaths at once.”

As he spoke, Mr Li’s brow furrowed, as if sensing the constant pressure mounting invisibly.

Soon, all the scene investigation activities were underway.

Four hours later, the preliminary scene investigation was completed, and the scene isolation ended.

At this moment, everyone was gathered on the open ground outside the door.

Mr Li stood at the front of the team, Jiang An spoke in a deep voice: ”Now, each team, report the physical evidence collected from the scene investigation.”

”Reporting to Mr Li, Captain Zhang, our team has collected 107 pieces of physical evidence from the scene investigation, including 97 pieces of ash, 36 pieces of clothing fragments, and 47 pieces of human tissue, some of which have missing markings. We have conducted several inspections in the indoor wardrobe, which is largely burnt, without finding any valuable money.”

Then, Jiang An asked in a deep voice, ”How is the condition of the door lock?”

”The deceased’s home windows have security screens, the door is quite intact, with no signs of violent damage.

So from this perspective, I highly suspect the perpetrator entered the premises peacefully and orchestrated the plan within a short time.”

Jiang An nodded lightly after listening, then turned slightly and said: ”Now, I will make a simple arrangement for the next steps.”

”First, we need to send all the extracted trace evidence to the lab for quick testing to determine if any accelerants were involved in the case— of course, this includes but is not limited to gasoline, alcohol, diesel, and other combustible liquids.”

”Secondly, we will conduct a detailed investigation of the circumstances surrounding the deceased at the time of the incident to check if there were any anomalies before and after the fire.”

”Third, we will conduct a thorough examination of the social relationships of the four household members to identify any enmities or other conflicts.”

”Fourth, we must retrieve all surveillance within a 5 km radius to see if any suspects appeared during the time of the fire last night.”

Here, Jiang An looked at Mr Li, ”Mr Li, please further emphasize this. That is all I have to say.”

Mr Li nodded after listening and said: ”I fully agree with Jiang Captain’s statements.”

”Next, let me say simply: this case is a huge obstacle before our criminal investigation team, akin to a barrier.”

”One could say, in all my decades as a criminal investigation captain, I have never encountered a case of four deaths at once.”

”It’s a challenge for us, but also an opportunity— a platform and occasion to showcase our Jiangcheng criminal investigation spirit and ability to solve cases.”

”Today, standing on this ruined site, our duty and mission are evident— we must uncover what happened on the night of the incident, and how it occurred.”

”Additionally, we must find out who is responsible for this tragedy on that night.”

”Fighting crime and maintaining social stability is our sacred and glorious mission in criminal investigation.”

”Here, I hope everyone can bring their A-game and shoulder the responsibilities and mission entrusted to us, delivering excellent results to reciprocate the expectations of Jiangcheng’s citizens, restoring peace to Jiangcheng!”

Everyone responded in unison: ”Yes!”
