The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Quickly, Jiang An took a bottle of Luminol Reagent from the crime scene investigation kit beside him.

This chemical reagent is crucial in forensic work, capable of detecting even the minutest traces of blood through fluorescence reaction.

With skilled hands, he unscrewed the reagent’s cap, concurrently explaining to his colleagues, ”It’s an aminophthalhydrazide solution, also known as the Luminol Reagent.”

Having said this, Jiang An carefully poured the reagent into a portable sprayer, ensuring not a drop was wasted.

”Biao, could you lend a hand?”

While adjusting the sprayer, he spoke to Chen Biao standing beside him, ”This detection needs to be done in complete darkness, so we’ll need you to turn off all the lighting equipment at the scene.”

Chen Biao immediately understood, nodding in response, ”Got it, I’ll go prepare.”

”You start the spraying operation, I’ll cut the power shortly.” With that, he hurriedly headed to the power box.

Holding the sprayer, Jiang An started the systematic spraying operation inside the trunk.

Beginning at the four corners of the box, progressing in a uniform Z-shaped route, ensuring no blood-hiding crevice would be missed.

The spray formed a fine mist in the air, shimmering with a faint blue glow under the light.

Five minutes later, as Chen Biao’s ”Ready to turn off the lights” was heard, the entire scene was plunged into darkness.

Everyone’s breath involuntarily softened, with only the faint sound of the sprayer audible in the darkness.

He continued with the last bit of spraying work, ensuring every corner was thoroughly covered.

”Alright, time to observe the reaction.”

Jiang An whispered, his voice containing the calm of a professional.

Everyone held their breath, focusing their eyes inside the trunk.

Five minutes of waiting felt infinitely prolonged.

Suddenly, in the right corner of the trunk, a patch of eerie blue fluorescence gradually emerged.

The light initially faint became increasingly bright over time, appearing especially glaring against the pitch-black background.

The fluorescence presented a typical splatter distribution, with edges showing irregular radial shapes.

”A discovery!”

Someone whispered in astonishment. That patch of blue light, like a ghostly flame in the night, silently narrated the traces of past violence.

The fluorescent pattern vividly delineated a striking distribution of bloodstains, providing crucial clues for the case investigation.

Seeing this scene, the entire team couldn’t conceal their excitement, especially the experienced Chen Biao and the promising Wu Bin, who exchanged incredulous glances.

As veterans in criminal investigation, they were well-acquainted with chemical chromogenic reagents, having used Luminol Reagent many times in past case work, but had never witnessed such a strong reaction as today.

In the right corner of the trunk, that patch of eerie blue fluorescence was clear as daylight, glaring conspicuously in the dim compartment.

”Really detected bloodstains!”

Zhang Yean exclaimed with such excitement his voice even trembled, unconsciously clenching his fists.

Beside him, Wan was already laughing uncontrollably, exhibiting his trademark big white teeth: ”Ironclad evidence, let’s see how that family can still dispute!”

Amidst the team’s joy, Jiang An squatted down, using a professional flashlight to carefully illuminate the fluorescent area.

Calmly analyzing, he said, ”Judging by the reaction intensity from the ammonia catalysis here, the blood concentration is quite high. Consider this distribution pattern, exhibiting a distinct flowing feature, likely caused by copious bleeding from the victim’s mouth or nose.”

”You mean the victim’s face had profuse bleeding?” Chen Biao thoughtfully queried.

Jiang An nodded, gesturing with his fingers while explaining, ”The bloodstains at this spot indicate a concentrated distribution, with edges showing radial diffusion traces.”

”If the blood came from droplets or wipes, it would never form this pattern.”

”Only abundant liquid blood flowing down from a height could create such a distinctive trace pattern.”

”Makes sense,” Chen Biao said, rubbing his chin in agreement, ”It aligns perfectly with our reconstruction of the crime scene.”

While everyone was engrossed in analyzing the case, imagining the horrific scenario of the victim being stuffed into the trunk, Jiang An suddenly furrowed his brow — his peripheral vision caught a detail everyone else overlooked.

On the inside of the trunk lid, several scattered fluorescent reactions faintly appeared, these traces distributed haphazardly, contrasting sharply with the orderly bloodstains at the bottom.

Instantly, Jiang An’s gaze fixated on the inside of the trunk lid.

Although the fluorescent reaction was extremely faint, under the professional light source, several scattered bluish-green light spots could still be clearly discerned.

His pupils slowly contracted, standing rigidly still as though nailed to the ground.

Other team members noticing his anomaly cast puzzled looks his way.

Zhang Yean was the first to speak: ”Mr. Jiang, what’s wrong? Did you find anything?”

Jiang An didn’t immediately respond but slowly raised his hand, pointing to the position on the trunk lid, his voice deep and decisive.

”Look here — this spot, also has a blood reaction.”

On hearing this, everyone immediately moved closer to examine, indeed finding faint fluorescent traces inside the trunk lid.

However, this discovery didn’t bring excitement but rather made the atmosphere at the scene suddenly solemn.

”Why would it appear here?”

Wu Bin furrowed his brows, his tone filled with confusion, ”Bloodstains usually concentrate on contact surfaces, like the bottom of the trunk, how would it splash onto the lid?”
