The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

”Yeah, and the distribution is so chaotic, it doesn’t look like simple drips or wiping.”

Chen Biao touched his chin and thoughtfully added.

”Could it be interference from other substances?”

”Such as some chemical residues or the owner’s daily supplies?”

Jiang An shook his head, his tone firm: ”The possibility is very low.”

”If it were interfering substances, other areas of the trunk should have similar reactions.”

”But aside from the bottom and here, there’s almost no fluorescence elsewhere. Besides—”

He paused, pointing to the marks on the lid, ”These fluorescences, though faint, match the characteristics of bloodstains, just with very little contact.”

Chen Biao and Wu Bin exchanged glances, faces full of confusion.

”If there really are bloodstains, why would they appear on the inside of the trunk lid?”

Wu Bin muttered to himself, ”When the victim was stuffed into the trunk, the bloodstains should be concentrated at the bottom instead...”

”That’s right, it’s illogical...”

Other team members also chimed in, and the scene fell into a brief silence.

Jiang An’s gaze wandered between the trunk bottom and the lid, his mind racing.

This abnormal finding made him uneasy—after so many years in scene investigation, it was the first time he’d encountered such a bizarre situation.

”Too strange...”

He muttered to himself, furrowing his brow, ”This is definitely not the usual corpse disposal traces...”

He continuously reviewed the case details, trying to find a reasonable explanation.

However, the more he thought about it, the more he felt there might be a more complex truth hidden behind this case. What exactly did the bloodstains on the lid signify?

Five minutes passed, the closed garage was filled with an overwhelming silence, only occasionally broken by the faint sound of airflow from the ventilation ducts.

Suddenly, Jiang An trembled all over, as if struck by some terrifying thought.

His Adam’s apple moved up and down a few times, lips trembling slightly, as he spoke that chilling possibility.

In an instant, his pupils contracted sharply, and his eyelids twitched uncontrollably.

Despite instinctually resisting this idea, a voice deep in his heart screamed for him to remain silent, but reason coldly told him it might be the closest explanation to the truth.

Meanwhile, outside the rusted roll-up door, Wang Yang was calmly negotiating with Li Changhe and his wife.

His voice was neither loud nor soft but carried undeniable authority: ”Mr. Li, I understand the difficulties of grassroots work.”

”But given your political consciousness, you should understand the consequences of concealment better than ordinary people.”

He paused, his piercing gaze fixed on Li’s slightly trembling fingers, ”The vehicle involved appeared in your private garage, and you intentionally concealed this fact during the initial investigation.”

”Now, please explain the reason truthfully.”

Li Changhe’s wife nervously twisted the edge of her apron, while Mr. Li wiped the sweat from his forehead, his voice dry.

”Mr. Wang, the village’s economy has been poor these past two years... I was forced to... I’ve been in this position for so many years, it’s inevitable that I would...”

His eyes darted around, ”If someone reports me for misuse of public vehicles, my life will be over!”

”Exactly!”

His wife suddenly interjected, her voice annoyingly sharp, ”Our Mr. Li works so diligently usually... it’s just... sometimes he’s too straightforward...”

Her defense weakened under Wang Yang’s sharp gaze.

Wang Yang didn’t immediately respond but thoughtfully surveyed the cluttered garage.

Rusty farm tools, moldy feed bags, and several unopened barrels of oil were piled messily in the corner.

”Where is your son working now?”

He suddenly changed the subject.

”He’s working in East Province,”

Li Changhe’s wife hurriedly replied, ”He hardly comes back throughout the year.”

Wang Yang’s gaze fell on the tire marks on the garage floor: ”Who usually drives this car?”

”I occasionally drive it...”

Li Changhe swallowed, ”I just got my driver’s license last year and haven’t mastered driving skills yet, so most of the time the car is parked here.”

Wang Yang’s expression remained unchanged, but his sight had shifted to the tightly closed roll-up door.

The inspection results inside would confirm or refute his speculation.

Although this was a routine inquiry for now, his professional intuition had already put this couple under close watch.

Behind the roll-up door, Chen Chen was crouched in front of the opened trunk, his gloves stained with traces of fluorescent reagent.

After hesitating for a moment, he spoke: ”Mr. Jiang, I have a hypothesis... it might sound a bit outlandish.”

”Go ahead,” Mr. Zhang encouraged.

”We always value your professional judgment.”

Jiang An took a deep breath, pointing inside the trunk: ”The fluorescence reaction at the bottom is clearly bloodstains, and from the area and shape, it fits the characteristic of flowing naturally from a person lying down.”

His fingertip moved upwards, ”But the marks on the lid are intriguing — these scattered streaks are clearly left by fingers with blood scratching.”

Immediately, the site fell silent, everyone holding their breath.

”This indicates,” Jiang An continued, his voice slightly tense due to concentration.

”The victim had signs of life when put into the trunk.”

”But judging by the scratch mark strength, he was already very weak then—these marks are shallow, not indicating fierce struggling.”

Then, Jiang An pointed to several specific marks, ”Especially this right-hand gripping pattern, combined with the overall mark distribution, I infer the victim was placed in a left lateral position in the trunk, so his right hand could reach this spot.”

”Unfortunately, no obvious footprints were found at the trunk bottom.”

”Either the perpetrator cleaned up afterwards, or...”

Upon hearing this analysis, the crowd found it hard to accept such a bold assumption.

After all, this crime method was unbelievably bizarre.

Nonetheless, Chen Biao, who had been working in the criminal investigation team for over ten years, furrowed his brow, pondered for a moment, and suddenly brightened, heavily nodding: ”Mr. Jiang, this inference is indeed logical!”

”Assuming the perpetrator placed the deceased into the vehicle before dying, the deceased could completely resist during transit.”

”And the struggle marks left during this resistance could explain those strange scratch marks in the cabin!”

While saying this, Chen Biao suddenly excitedly slapped his thigh: ”Brilliant! Truly brilliant!”

He quickly walked to Zhang Yuan, vigorously slapped his shoulder, eyes full of admiration.

”Mr. Jiang, I’ve long heard about your godlike investigative skills, today I finally witnessed it firsthand, truly deserving the reputation!”

”Thinking of such a crucial breakthrough point in such a short time, I am truly humbled!”

”Mr. Wang, you’re too kind.”

Jiang An humbly waved his hand, ”These are merely initial inferences based on site marks and still require further validation.”

”No, Mr. Jiang, I think your analysis is very rational.”

Chen Biao seriously said, pointing inside the trunk for further explanation.

”From the spatial perspective, this inference is entirely plausible.”

”And especially fitting the special case situation—the deceased suffered an impact in a traffic accident causing internal injuries and nasal bleeding.”

”These bloodstains were likely left during the struggle, coupled with those clear grip marks, it can be basically concluded that they were left during the deceased’s life struggle.”

Upon hearing this, Jiang An turned to his colleagues in the technical department: ”Zhao, please use the fluorescent reagent to particularly test the bloodstains at this site for sample extraction and immediate testing.”

”As long as the DNA comparison confirms it’s the deceased’s bloodstains, then this vehicle is undoubtedly the transportation tool for the murder weapon!”

”Understood!” The technician promptly started action.

”Exactly!” Zhang Yean agreed.

”Is this what constitutes irrefutable evidence?”

At this moment, the entire special task force was invigorated by this significant discovery.

Jiang An looked around, seeing the scene investigation nearly complete, decisively commanded: ”Now that the vehicle’s key evidence is secured, it’s time to meet Li Changhe.”
