The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Jiang An thought for a moment and held up two fingers: ”Pay special attention to two features: first, the chassis height does not exceed 20 centimeters, and second, there may be obvious signs of deformation on the body.”

”Especially the underbody guard plates and exhaust pipes, these parts must be checked carefully.”

”Understood!”

Ten minutes later, a police car slowly drove into the village committee courtyard, the tires making a slight friction sound on the cement ground.

Wang Yang was the first to push open the car door and looked up at the slightly old two-story office building.

”Let’s go, let’s greet the village committee first.”

Wang Yang tidied his police uniform collar and spoke to the team members behind him.

After all, coming here to investigate, if we can get the support of the village committee, utilizing their familiarity with the village situations, the subsequent investigation work will be more effective.

More importantly, with the cooperation of the village committee, the villagers will also be more cooperative with the investigation.

Knock knock knock!

Wang Yang raised his hand and knocked three times on the office wooden door, the sound particularly clear in the quiet corridor.

After a while, the door creaked open, and out came Mr. Li Changhe, the village committee director.

Seeing Wang Yang, he quickly said, ”Oh, Mr. Wang, are you here to investigate again?”

He gestured invitingly as he spoke.

”Yes, Mr. Li.”

Wang Yang stepped into the office and glanced around.

”This time we want to investigate the vehicle situation in your village.”

Upon hearing this, Mr. Li Changhe paused slightly while pouring tea, the teapot suspended in the air for a moment.

He asked somewhat puzzled, ”Vehicle situation?”

Then he suddenly understood, ”Oh, there are not many vehicles in our village, most households have electric bikes.”

”It’s okay, it’s because there are not many that we need to check them one by one.”

”If there were many, it might be a bit troublesome for us to investigate.”

”Please bring the map of your village and the distribution of villagers so that we can divide into several groups for different angles and break through at the same time, which might be faster.”

”Alright, alright,”

Mr. Li quickly nodded and turned to the filing cabinet, ”I’ll bring over the administrative map of our village right away, and you can organize the groups.”

His fingers quickly flicked through the files in the cabinet, making a ”swooshing” sound.

Then, two minutes later, a somewhat yellowed administrative map was laid flat on the desk.

Mr. Li pointed at the map and explained, ”Our village is composed of four natural villages, with a total of four communities, each with roughly the same population.”

His finger traced out four areas on the map, ”Here is Sahngwangzhuang, over here is Xiawangzhuang, to the east is Li Family Village, and to the west is Zhang Family Gully.”

As the administrative village map unfolded completely on the table, Mr. Li casually asked, ”How are the two people you caught last time, Mr. Wang?”

”Are they criminal suspects?”

”They have been...”

Wang Yang paused and looked up at Mr. Li, ”Are you very concerned about this matter?”

”Well, it’s not that I am concerned,”

Mr. Li sighed, pulling a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, and handed one to Wang Yang.

”It’s just that their families have come to me many times, and I don’t know how to answer them.”

”They come to the village committee every day causing a scene, saying that their children couldn’t have committed a crime.”

Wang Yang took the cigarette and twirled it between his fingers: ”The two of them have already been released by me; there is no evidence to suggest they are involved in the case.”

”Oh, that’s good,”

Mr. Li visibly breathed a sigh of relief, taking out a lighter to light Wang Yang’s cigarette.

”Otherwise, I wouldn’t know how to respond to them.”

”You have no idea, those two old ladies come here crying every day, and I feel bad too.”

”It’s okay, ”

Wang Yang took a deep drag from the cigarette and slowly exhaled the smoke, ”We are always very fair in law enforcement.”

”If there’s no crime, we definitely won’t wrong anyone.”

”If a crime was really committed, there’s no way to escape.”

Upon hearing this, Mr. Li quickly replied, ”Indeed! Indeed!”

”The investigation techniques now are way more advanced than before.”

”There are cameras everywhere, and phone tracking is so precise, the chances of escaping now are extremely small.”

Then, Wang Yang focused on studying the administrative map, measuring distances with his fingers and occasionally noting something down in a notebook.

Jiang An leaned over, and the two quietly discussed how to organize the groups.

In less than five minutes, they had arranged the groups: Wang Yang with Zhou Yong in one group; Chen Biao with Wan in another; Jiang An with Zhang Yean in another group......

After grouping, everyone quickly began to take action, and the entire investigation process was conducted with extraordinary thoroughness and seriousness.

Four hours flew by.

The group led by Mr. Wang was the first to complete the investigation of their designated area, carefully checking every potentially qualifying vehicle in the village, yet they still didn’t find any suspicious clues.

Soon, other groups reported their findings in the work group one after another: ”No qualified findings”

”Same as above”

”Same as above”

”Same as above”

”Same as above”

....

The last area covered was by Jiang An and Zhang Yean, who were particularly meticulous, conducting a comprehensive check on almost every vehicle, even examining tire treads closely.

However, the result was still disappointing—”Same as above”.

No valuable discoveries were made.

At 3:15, all officers gathered back in the courtyard of the village committee.

Sunlight sifted through the sycamore leaves, casting dappled shadows on the ground, a gentle breeze brushed across everyone’s faces, yet couldn’t dispel the clouds of doubt hanging over their hearts.

Mr. Wang stood in the center of the crowd, with furrowed brows, saying: ”We have now completed the check of all vehicles in the village, but there is still no progress.”
