The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

”If we ever come across any difficult criminal cases in the East District that we can’t handle, please make sure to lend us Jiang An for support.”

Li Jian quickly waved his hand, his expression excited as he said, ”Mr. Ma, what are you talking about?”

”At any time and place, Jiang An, myself, including the instructor and every member of the current criminal team, are all soldiers you’ve trained.”

”We will always remember your kindness in cultivating us.”

”From the ends of the earth, as long as you give the order, we will follow you.”

Mr. Ma, seeing this, a trace of emotion flashed in his eyes, but he quickly regained his usual composure.

He smiled gently, ”You, child, are exaggerating too much.”

”In the future, you must have your own stance and responsibilities, and remain steadfast.”

”Remember, we are all here to protect the safety of the people and uphold social fairness and justice.”

At this point, his tone softened again, ”But on a side note, seeing all of you grow and mature makes me as the old leader happier than anything else.”

Half an hour later, at the city bureau’s personnel meeting, Mr. Ma expressed the idea of having Jiang An take the position of criminal investigation team leader.

At this moment, Personnel Section Chief Mr. Li cleared his throat and solemnly spoke: ”Mr. Ma, leaders, as the head of personnel, I’d like to share some opinions regarding the candidate for criminal investigation team leader, based on cadre management regulations.”

”Firstly, Comrade Jiang An’s professional ability is indeed recognized by all and is an invaluable core member of the criminal investigation team.”

”However, according to the Public Security Organ Leadership Cadre Selection and Appointment Ordinance, Chapter Three, Article Twelve, those who hold a correct sectional leadership position should have at least two years of experience in a deputy sectional position as a principle.”

”Although Comrade Jiang An meets these basic conditions, he has only been a police officer for over five years since graduating from the police academy, and it’s less than two years since he was promoted to deputy team leader, making him one of the youngest mid-level deputies in the whole bureau.”

Saying this, Mr. Li opened the notebook in front of him and continued, ”Secondly, from the viewpoint of building a cadre echelon, although we advocate for younger cadres, the position of criminal investigation team leader is quite special.”

”It not only requires strong professional abilities but also rich social experience and mature handling skills.”

”According to our statistics over the past decade, the average age of a criminal investigation team leader is around 38, while Comrade Jiang An is only 28 this year, which is indeed a significant age gap.”

”I suggest considering transferring a capable and experienced comrade from another criminal investigation team to be the leader.”

”Such a move would ensure continuity of work and serve as a model for mentorship.”

Mr. Li’s well-founded remarks immediately resonated with the attendees.

In the public security system, which emphasizes hierarchy and seniority, cadre growth indeed requires gradual progression.

Especially in criminal investigation work, which often faces complex case environments and significant pressure to solve cases, overly young cadres might make erroneous judgments at crucial moments due to lack of experience.

Several leaders in charge nodded slightly in agreement, and a low murmur of discussion rose in the conference room.

Mr. Ma noticed that Mr. Liu’s brow was deeply furrowed, his fingers rhythmically tapping the desktop, clearly contemplating the issue deeply.

As the discussions died down, Mr. Ma spoke steadily, ”Mr. Li’s opinion is very pertinent and indeed points out crucial aspects to consider in cadre appointments.”

”However, I want to add a few points about Comrade Jiang An’s specific situation.”

He opened the file next to him and continued, ”First, although Jiang An is young, his case-handling experience is very rich.”

”During his time as a deputy leader, he led the investigation of the ’3.15’ series of theft cases, the ’7.22’ intentional homicide case, and other major cases, participating in solving a total of 187 criminal cases, achieving top results in the team.”

”Secondly, his leadership ability has been tested in practice. Last year, during the investigation of a cross-border telecom fraud case, the task force he led fought continuously for three months, eventually dismantling a criminal gang involved in hundreds of millions, the case being recognized as a typical example by the provincial department.”

Mr. Ma glanced around the venue, his tone becoming more solemn, ”More importantly, Comrade Jiang An possesses a maturity beyond his years.”

”When he reported to me this morning, he emphasized a point: the most valuable aspect of criminal investigation work is team cohesion and harmony.”

”Even if we appoint a leader with strong abilities from the outside, it would require a long adjustment period.”

”Given the current high frequency of cases, we cannot afford this time cost.”

At this point, Mr. Liu, who had been silent, spoke slowly, ”Mr. Li’s concerns are not without reason.”

”Cadre rejuvenation is not simply an age limit, but ensuring young cadres can command respect and undertake heavy responsibilities.”

”Would Jiang An face resistance in team management if promoted?”

”How would those more senior associates perceive this? All these are questions that require careful consideration.”

Mr. Liu’s words once again prompted deep thought among the attendees, prompting whispered exchanges of opinions.

The atmosphere in the room turned heavy for a moment.

Cadre appointment is never a simple choice, as it relates to long-term team development and impacts the actual effectiveness of specific work.

Everyone knew that this decision might have a profound impact on the criminal investigation work over the coming years.

At this point, Mr. Ma suddenly straightened up and said, ”Mr. Liu, and colleagues present, I strongly recommend Jiang An.”

”Although I am about to leave Jiangcheng, I fully recognize Jiang An’s abilities and levels in solving cases.”

”I’ve been engaged in public security work for nearly 30 years, met many criminal investigation experts, and listened to many criminal investigation lectures, but I believe Jiang An’s ability and thinking far exceed theirs.”

”Jiang An is always able to think one level higher and implement at a lower level, with strong execution capabilities and a broad macro view.”

”Such qualities, encompassing both attention to detail and leadership vision, are exactly what’s required for a leading role in the criminal investigation team.”

Mr. Ma continued, ”Of course, as Mr. Li just mentioned, his status is quite special, as he comes from a young forensic background.”

”Throughout the province or even the country, it’s rare for a forensic expert to take on the role of a criminal investigation team leader, but we shouldn’t have fixed criteria.”

”As the saying goes, talents shouldn’t be confined by the norms; heroes aren’t judged by their origins.”

”Moreover, Jiang An has been delving deep into the criminal investigation team for a long time, he is no longer just a simple forensic doctor, nor a technician handling corpses in the lab; he has grown into a frontline combat expert in criminal investigations.”

”Arguably, many major case solutions in our criminal investigation team have been achieved through his strategies and advice.”

”Everyone here must have frequently seen reports of Jiang An’s achievements, right?”

Hearing this, the other participants began to nod, even Mr. Liu’s furrowed brows slightly relaxed.

Mr. Ma finally said, ”Therefore, here, I assure Mr. Liu and everyone present that Jiang An is the best choice for the position of Jiangcheng’s criminal investigation team leader, and also the only choice.”

”Though I’m about to leave Jiangcheng, I still have profound feelings for the criminal investigation team.”

”I’ve watched it grow from two or three people to more than forty now.”

”I hope our efforts over the years won’t be in vain, and I wish the criminal investigation team the best for the future.”

Hearing this, Mr. Liu remained silent for a while, eventually deciding, ”Alright, let’s settle it this way.”

”I agree to nominate Jiang An as the criminal investigation team leader.”

”Does anyone else have any objections?”

The participants all nodded in agreement.

With the director setting the tone, naturally, no one else had any objections.
