The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

After hurrying back from the highway, Mr. Ma didn’t even have time to return to his office; he went straight to the city bureau to attend the temporary meeting.

The atmosphere in the conference room was tense. The oval conference table was filled with leaders responsible for various divisions, and the focus of the discussion was on the personnel adjustment of the criminal investigation team.

On the way back, Mr. Ma leaned on the passenger seat, intending to take a short nap, but couldn’t fall asleep. He couldn’t help but recall the intense discussion at the meeting about the choice of the criminal investigation team leader.

In reality, when he initially recommended Jiang An for the position of criminal investigation team leader at the party committee meeting, he wasn’t completely certain.

Mr. Ma clearly remembered that when he first made this suggestion, Mr. Zhang from the personnel department immediately expressed strong opposition.

”Although Comrade Jiang An has outstanding professional competence, after all, he’s only 30. Is it too young to hold such an important position?”

Mr. Zhang said, frowning, ”The criminal investigation team is the core department of our city bureau. The leader not only has to be responsible for solving major cases but also manage a team of nearly a hundred people...”

Thinking of this, Mr. Ma unknowingly shook his head, but a hint of a relieved smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.

He turned to Li Jian, sitting in the back, and sighed: ”It seems our previous concerns were unnecessary.”

”In the previous case, I paid special attention to Jiang An’s work status.”

”The robbery and murder case’s on-site command, from inspection to control, was meticulously arranged. What’s even more admirable is that the team members truly respected him.”

Li Jian hurriedly nodded in agreement: ”Mr. Ma is absolutely right.”

”Today’s young cadres need to be like this, able to lead from the front while coordinating the entire situation.”

”I’ve observed Comrade Jiang An for a long time. He’s impeccable in criminal investigation, and last year’s serial theft case was solved by his team.”

”What is even more rare is that the team he leads is disciplined, with the case-solving rate ranking first in the city for three consecutive quarters.”

Mr. Ma gazed out the car window and said thoughtfully: ”Indeed, new generation leaders need to be like him.”

”Not only must they understand the business and solve cases, but they also need to be responsible and take action.”

”It seems our personnel arrangement this time is the right one.”

His tone gradually became firm, ”Criminal investigation work is different from other positions, requiring both excellent professional qualifications and the calm determination not to panic in crises.”

”From this investigation, Jiang An indeed possesses these qualities.”

The car fell into silence, with only the humming of the engine echoing.

At this moment, Mr. Ma’s expression had relaxed significantly, as if a heavy stone had been lifted from his heart.

At the bureau meeting when we return, I must emphasize this personnel arrangement.

He paused and added, ”Talents like this truly deserve a broader development platform.”

At this point, Mr Zhang, who had been focused on driving, couldn’t help but turn around, speaking with a touch of emotion: ”Director, to be honest, in all my years of driving for our criminal investigation team, I’ve rarely seen forensic pathologists transition to administrative positions.”

”Let alone someone as young as Jiang An directly holding the position of criminal investigation team leader. This might be a groundbreaking first.”

Mr. Ma pondered over these words, tapping lightly on the armrest, before speaking after a pause: ”Indeed.”

”As far as I know, in the national public security system, there are very few criminal investigation team leaders with a forensic background.”

”Jiang An, this kid, might be setting a precedent in our system.”

As he spoke, his tone gradually became excited: ”This kid is indeed a rare talent!”

”Despite having a background in forensic pathology, his abilities have long surpassed the scope of forensics.”

”He excels in scene investigations, case analysis, and interrogation breakthroughs. What’s even more commendable is his outstanding management skills.”

”A well-rounded, composite talent like this is truly a rarity in our criminal investigation system!”

”Mr. Ma is right. As the saying goes, ’A hero is not concerned with his origins’, especially on our public security front.”

”Although Comrade Jiang An is young, his outstanding performance in last year’s serial murder case was evident to all. He even led the technical team in developing new on-site examination methods.”

”Such a practical talent is completely qualified to shoulder this responsibility.”

Mr. Ma mused aloud: ”Indeed... perhaps we really should break some of our entrenched ideas.”

”The new era of criminal investigation work needs exactly talents like Jiang An, who not only understand professional technique but also have management capabilities.”

Mr. Ma concluded: ”This is why I have high hopes for Jiang An.”

”He not only has solid professional competence but also that rare quality of maintaining a pure heart, filled with passion for work and dedication to justice.”

”Such young people are precisely the new force our public security team needs.”

No sooner had he finished speaking than Li Jian said sincerely: ”Mr. Ma, we’ll feel empty without you.”

”You’re about to be promoted to director of the East City District Public Security Bureau, and we’ll have fewer opportunities to meet in the future.”

”Having followed you all these years, we’ve not only learned how to solve cases but also learned the principles of being a good person.”

”Please make sure to visit us often and guide our work in the future.”

Upon hearing this, Mr. Ma laughed heartily, patting Li Jian’s shoulder: ”Li, don’t be modest.”

”You’re about to become the deputy head in charge of the criminal investigation team, and with your ability and experience, you can certainly handle things independently.”

”The criminal investigation team will rely on your leadership in the future. But that said, our two bureaus will certainly have a lot of business exchanges, and I will depend on your guidance when the time comes.”
