Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1132: Chapter 1132: The Target Is Him

No matter what she did wrong, her brother would always educate him.

But he had never been like today, not just educating him, but even scolding him.

”Should!” An Ping, watching from aside, was still not satisfied, ”Beat him! Brother-in-law, beat him hard!”

At this moment, a warrior walked out of the courtyard and came to Qin Jian, snapping a salute: ”Staff Officer, the regiment commander asks to see you.”

”I understand.” After Qin Jian spoke, his gaze shifted to An Ping and Qin Fen, ”Take these vegetables back, and don’t dare to send them to the troops! You two go back first, after things here are settled, I will deal with you.”

Qin Jian turned and walked toward the courtyard, then went upstairs, and found Zhang Jianguo waiting for him at the stairwell.

”Regiment commander, you wanted to see me!”

”There was a call just now, the test results came out, and there’s a component of laxatives in these vegetables.”

”What?” Qin Jian was utterly shocked, ”How could there be laxative components in the vegetables? Surely An Ping wouldn’t have laced them with laxatives.”

”Clearly impossible! Unless he wants to close his business!” The regiment commander felt that it could never be the An Family’s doing, ruining their own business, especially with Qin Jian in the army, he surely wouldn’t harm his own people. What’s the purpose then?

”Regiment commander, what do you think?” Qin Jian saw Zhang Jianguo in deep thought, so he asked.

”What do you think?” Zhang Jianguo asked in return.

”They must have been swapped mid-way!” Qin Jian was not afraid to lose face, and he told them about what his younger brother had done, ”If laxative components are found in untreated vegetables, it only proves that someone intentionally put it there.”

”Exactly. What’s the purpose?” Regiment Commander Zhang wanted to know why someone would do such a thing.

And to be so audacious, to take aim at the military.

Qin Jian frowned and pondered; he felt that the timing of this incident was just too coincidental.

Previously, such an incident had never occurred in the army, and there were no such events afterward either.

Yet it happened right after the superiors’ inspection, and overnight rumors detrimental to him arose.

Following that, his promotion to the rank of regiment commander was put on hold.

Clearly, the adversary didn’t intend to harm the warriors, the goal was to stir up rumors, the bigger the better, to muddy his reputation beyond cleansing.

”Regiment commander, maybe I’m overthinking, but intuition tells me this seems to be aimed at me,” Qin Jian said.

”You are thinking the same as I am.” Zhang Jianguo also deeply felt the same way.

”Could it be Hen Zhiyuan?” Qin Jian remembered Zhang Jianguo had warned him to be cautious of this person before.

”Not sure.” Zhang Jianguo didn’t dare to conclude this definitively.

Although Hen Zhiyuan was a suspect, they couldn’t just determine it was him because of that.

”Regiment commander, I suggest requesting. Other relevant departments assist in the investigation! The vegetables were switched at a vegetable distribution point mid-way, we must raid that spot and catch a few red-handed, interrogate them thoroughly!” Then the purpose would become clear.

”Good!”

Regiment Commander Zhang contacted both the local public security and commercial departments, requesting their assistance in investigating the matter.

Both departments arrived just in time to catch the group in the act of closing up shop.

They were then taken back for an investigation.

A few hours later, an interrogation report was handed to Zhang Jianguo.

He flipped it open, shook his head, and passed it to Qin Jian.

After looking at the interrogation records, Qin Jian knew for sure that they couldn’t dig up the root cause from these people.

The interrogated group only admitted to engaging in speculative trading.
