Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1127: Chapter 1127: Not a Single One Is Frugal

An Hao saw it coming.

They say human greed knows no bounds, like a snake trying to swallow an elephant – and the saying couldn’t be more true.

The year they had just gotten married was the biggest crisis the Qin family had faced in years.

Qin Jian was about to be acknowledged by the Ning family, and Li Junping clearly sensed that if the Ning family decided to take Qin Jian away, given the current state of the Qin family, they would definitely be done for.

The Qin family had a son and a daughter, both of whom were good for nothing; over the years, they had treated Qin Jian well, but Qin Jian had given back even more.

Qin Jian joined the military early and had seen the battlefield, becoming a battalion commander in the army quite early on.

His monthly allowance made up more than half of the Qin family’s income.

At that time, when Qin Jian wanted to date someone, Li Junping was adamant about not agreeing.

She just thought the girl’s family was too poor.

Later when everyone knew that Qin Jian was the son of a Commander, Li Junping started to feel a sense of crisis.

Seeing how especially fond Qin Jian was of her.

Li Junping was exceptionally nice to her as a result.

When the relationship between the Ning family and the Qin family was bad, Qin Jian was caught in the middle, uncomfortable on both sides.

He couldn’t intervene, nor could he simply ignore it.

Watching her son on the verge of being lost, Li Junping did indeed start plotting.

She suppressed her own temperament, acted accommodating and submissive, and in front of Qin Jian, she would shed tears and play magnanimous.

Later on, Qin Ru Hai broke his leg trying to save Zhang Yun.

He nearly lost half of his life.

The Ning family was grateful to Qin Ru Hai and also took into consideration the relationship between Qin Jian and his adoptive parents, which is why Zhang Yun and Ning Yibin finally made up their minds.

To not delve into the three-decades-old matter any further.

They also tacitly accepted Qin Jian’s dealings with the Qin family.

The situation with Qin Fen and Song Yueqin made Li Junping feel utterly frustrated.

Add to that the fact that Qin Feng fell ill during the same period, it was like adding frost to snow for the Qin family.

An Hao taking the initiative indeed made Li Junping grateful for a while.

But later, when Qin Fen continuously had no job or income and kept fighting with Song Yueqin every other day,

it became a thorn in Li Junping’s side, watching the An family’s vegetable garden thriving more and more.

In her heart, she had long wanted An Hao to give Qin Fen a hand.

But An Hao showed no such intention for quite some time.

This actually left Li Junping somewhat dissatisfied, and now their relationship was relatively stable, she saw that Qin Jian wouldn’t ignore the affairs of the Qin family.

The repressed feelings in her heart started to stir once more.

She thought Qin Jian was her son, An Hao was her daughter-in-law.

It’s said that eldest sisters are like mothers, eldest brothers like fathers.

Yet they, akin to paternal figures, were unable to provide their sibling with a steady and secure job.

Li Junping expressed her dissatisfaction regarding this.

”You’ve been good to my Qin family,” Li Junping didn’t deny An Hao’s contributions to the Qin family over the past few years, ”but all I want is for Qin Fen to have a job! He’s Qin Jian’s brother, your brother-in-law.”

”Doesn’t he have a job now? What was it you assured me of at the time? That Qin Fen wouldn’t cause any trouble,” Li Junping’s words still echoed in An Hao’s ears.

”He hasn’t caused any trouble,” An Hao lifted her chin slightly: ”Not following the garden’s rules, sneaking people from outside to pick vegetables, that’s causing trouble. I was hoping you would help me supervise Qin Fen, but instead...”

Li Junping heard the implication: ”Are you implying that I’m the trouble, then?”

”Those are your own words.”

”You...!!!” Li Junping was so infuriated by An Hao’s words that she almost spat blood; not one of her daughters-in-law was easy to handle.

She had to coax one and still had to cajole another.

It was indeed frustrating for her as a mother-in-law.
