Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1121: Chapter 1121: Decisive Decision-Making

The vegetables freshly picked from the greenhouse early in the morning were of various types and extremely fresh.

Especially those boxes of greens, still with dew on them, looked crisply green and very fresh at a glance.

”These vegetables are really good. The ones delivered before were just like this. But recently, the quality of these vegetables has not been as good as before,” the cook squad leader said.

”Yes, yes! We used to really enjoy these vegetables; they tasted great! Especially in winter, when vegetables are very scarce! Having these greenhouse vegetables made the diet of our warriors much better.”

The warriors began discussing it amongst themselves.

An Hao took the opportunity to continue, ”Indeed, it’s our fault that this issue arose. We heard that the warriors were eating spoiled vegetables, and we were very anxious, so we went to pick the vegetables early in the morning. We rushed them here from the village. After we return, we will also conduct a thorough internal investigation to find out which link went wrong.”

”Hmm, not bad,” Zhang Jianguo appreciated An Hao’s attitude a lot, ”Although we are military personnel, we understand that doing business requires integrity. You cannot pass off inferior goods as good quality! This time, although the vegetables previously delivered were subpar, the fact that you managed to deliver fresh vegetables so promptly is indeed commendable.”

At Zhang Jianguo’s words, the warriors began whispering among themselves.

An Hao heard someone say, ”Only changing them after problems occur might affect the chief of staff’s career.”

”That’s the usual trick of merchants. Let’s just hear them out.”

Unruffled, An Hao responded, ”If there are any issues, you can raise them with me directly!”

The air immediately became much quieter, and as An Hao’s gaze swept over them and saw no one speaking up, she continued, ”As I’ve learned just now, during this period, a total of five batches of vegetables were problematic. To compensate for the losses of the brigade, we will be delivering the remaining four batches of vegetables for free!”

”Really?” the quartermaster was surprised, ”That’s quite a significant expense.”

”I know. This mistake is on us, and we should pay for it!” An Hao said decisively, ”However, I heard someone saying that the chief of staff had his family deliver inferior vegetables to make a profit. I must clarify here that there’s absolutely no truth to that claim! We have a supply contract with the army, and we have been rigorously inspected before as well. We admit our mistakes in these instances, but you cannot deny our past service!”

”This issue does make people speculate,” the quartermaster said with an embarrassed smile.

”I know. The speculation arises because Qin Jian is serving here as the chief of staff. Here, I must declare that the procurement between the army and the An Family is a normal transaction, and the reason the army chose the An Family is that our vegetables are high quality and priced lower than the market!”

At this point, An Hao paused, and everyone awaited her next words.

But An Hao remained silent for a full minute, just when everyone thought she wouldn’t speak further, she made an unexpected decision, ”The contract we signed with the army is almost up as well, and starting from the day it ends, we will not renew it! From now on, An Family’s vegetables will no longer enter the army canteen.”

”Sister!” An Ping was shocked, not expecting her to make such a decision.

This was a significant market, one of the steady parts of their income.
