Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 534: Chapter 534: Counting Your Happiest Troublemaking Moments

”You bitch, curse me one more time!” Feng Chunhua shouted, smacking Gu Shuangshuang with the sole of a shoe while cursing, ”You’re the worthless thing! You’re nothing!”

”Stop it! That’s enough!” An Hao, seeing Gu Shuangshuang getting beaten without any chance to fight back by this fierce woman, went up and hugged her, pulling her away, ”Can’t you be reasonable? Why do you think you can just hit people like that?”

”I’ll not only hit her, but I’ll hit you too!” Feng Chunhua said, and with one hand free, she reached out to grab An Hao.

The passengers in the same train carriage couldn’t bear it anymore; they all came down from their bunks to break up the fight.

”You shouldn’t be going too far, madam. She’s just a young girl; she hasn’t provoked you.”

”Exactly, just listen to how you’re berating her!”

”You’re a grown-up now; you should be mindful of the influence you have. Look, isn’t your child watching you all the time?”

Feng Chunhua, accused by the whole sleeper carriage, became even more indignant: ”Each one of you, stop looking down on people with those snobbish eyes. You are all city folks; you just look down on us villagers.”

”What you said is not right, big sister. I’m also a native rural person. But wherever I go, no one ever looks down on me. Why? Because you have to respect yourself first before expecting others to respect you.”

The commotion here attracted more attention, and people from other carriages also squeezed in, jamming the aisle tight.

It was then that the train conductor came over, dispersed the crowd, and managed to separate the fighting group of people.

”What’s this fighting about? Do you know you’re on a train? Can’t you be more mindful of the impact? Consider how others feel!” The train conductor, a straightforward person, scolded them with a stern face upon seeing the mess.

”Are you in charge of this train? Can’t you manage them? So many people are bullying the two of us,” Feng Chunhua complained first, playing the victim.

”I saw that it was you who were hitting and cursing with gusto just now,” the train conductor said, glaring at her.

”They were all hitting my mom!” Erxiu lied through her teeth, pointing at Gu Shuangshuang and An Hao.

”What are you talking about? It was clearly your mom who hit us!” Gu Shuangshuang said, showing the red marks Feng Chunhua had left on her.

”It was you guys!” The kid, who had been quiet before, was now talking back fiercely.

”No! We all saw that this woman was the one bullying the young girl!” The people unanimously stood up to accuse Feng Chunhua.

Seeing this, the train conductor had someone take her away to the train’s office for a lecture.

Before leaving, the train conductor intentionally warned her that if she caused more trouble, there would be a fine. Only then did Feng Chunhua quiet down.

After a day and a night of jostling on the train, they finally arrived at the station the next evening.

Through the train window, An Hao saw the sun, like a giant fireball, gradually sinking in the west, the evening sky dyed red, and many people on the platform craning their necks, looking into the carriages.

She couldn’t help but press her face against the glass, searching the crowd for that tall, military-green figure.

The train let out a slow whistle and came to a stop. An Hao grabbed her things, took Gu Shuangshuang by the hand, and hurried off the train.

In the bustling crowd, suddenly a tall, slender figure appeared, standing under the sky lit by the sunset, a slight smile on his lips as he called out, ”An Hao!”

In that moment, An Hao’s calm heart started racing, after exactly four months and eleven days, she finally saw Qin Jian again!
