Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 523: Chapter 523: You Are Responsible

”Is there a misunderstanding here? Qin Fen is not that kind of kid.” Li Junping hastily defended her son.

”So you’re saying my daughter Yueqin is that kind of person? I saw everything with my own eyes, could that be fake?” Zhang Juyun shouted, her face reddening.

Seizing the opportunity, Song Yueqin pitifully approached Qin Fen and said, ”Qin Fen, it was you who said you’d marry me, right? You can’t go back on your word! If you do, I’ll throw myself to death in front of your family, right at your doorstep. I’m already yours, and if you don’t want me, I only have death left.”

Upon hearing Song Yueqin talk about dying, Qin Fen was startled.

He thought about how they had already ’cooked the raw rice’ together; if he rejected Song Yueqin, her family would surely not let him off the hook.

It was highly likely that Song Yueqin might commit suicide!

When he entered her earlier, the sensation was very enticing, and looking at Song Yueqin, she wasn’t ugly; he actually had some feelings for her.

Although he had been in a state of anger and shock just now, he was a bit upset that she had deliberately concealed her family’s situation.

Now, thinking it over, perhaps Song Yueqin had no choice, fearing that his family wouldn’t accept her, could that be why she did this?

With this thought in mind, Qin Fen agreed, ”I’ll marry you.”

”Qin Fen!!!” Li Junping was immediately agitated, ”I don’t allow you to marry her!”

”I won’t let you marry her! You unfilial son!” Qin Ru Hai came out from inside the house, wielding his smoking pipe fiercely as he struck Qin Fen’s head, hitting him so it hurt and he had nowhere to hide, ”You’ve disgraced the Qin family completely!”

”What’s the use of you not allowing?” Although the Song family wasn’t very satisfied with this marriage arrangement, considering Yueqin’s reputation was already ruined, marrying Qin Fen was at least better than marrying an idiot, right?

”If your daughter had been slept with, how would you feel? Now my daughter has been ruined by your son, you must take responsibility. Otherwise, don’t think of living peacefully!” Zhang Juyun shouted angrily.

The argument in the middle of the day disturbed the peace of their neighbors.

Neighbors came one after another to watch the spectacle at the Qin family’s home; though family disgrace should not be made public, this time Zhang Juyun made a fuss about it in order to force the Qin family’s hand.

The villagers all criticized the Qin family for being unprincipled; their daughter was slept with and they made trouble at the Song family’s, now the Song family’s daughter was slept with by the Qin family, and they refused to marry her.

Shouldn’t they at least even the score?

Seeing that the matter was getting out of hand, Li Junping quickly agreed, ”As long as Qin Fen is willing, we’ll take her!”

Seeing that the matter was settled, Qin Ru Hai let out a deep sigh, ”Get married then!”

And so, a marriage was hastily arranged.

That night, Qin Ru Hai, furious, gave Qin Fen a thrashing with his shoe: ”Do you realize you’ve fallen into their trap!”

Qin Fen also started to realize, but it seemed to be too late.

”It’s agreed then?” Even though he had been tricked, his heart wasn’t entirely against it.

He still had feelings for Song Yueqin.

...........................

With the Qin family’s matter settled, Qin Ru Hai sent a telegram to Qin Jian.

It was only after Qin Jian told An Hao over the phone that she found out.

”What? Song Yuqin is going to be my sister-in-law in the future?” An Hao’s head was aching at the thought; who knew what kind of trouble would arise in the future.

”Don’t worry. With me here, I won’t let you be wronged,” Qin Jian told An Hao, ”After you graduate, come to the Northwest, and we won’t have any relationship with Song Yueqin.”

”Mm.” An Hao nodded.

”Are you upset?” Qin Jian keenly sensed her mood.

”No.” An Hao shook her head and whispered into the phone, ”I just miss you.”

”I miss you too,” Qin Jian laughed, ”If you don’t come soon, I might really have to go off and become a monk.”

An Hao’s cheeks flushed: ”You’re always so busy, and now you still find time to think about such things. Just endure a little longer; I’ll soon have summer vacation! Qin Jian, I’m going to visit the troops!”
