Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 520: Chapter 520: No One Dares to Marry Her

”Her reputation is already in tatters. Besides, she doesn’t get along with your sister-in-law, you shouldn’t make your sister-in-law unhappy just for an outsider,” Li Junping said.

An Hao had helped Qin Feng with that matter, which made Li Junping very grateful.

Moreover, Qin Jian was so fond of An Hao, that if he came back and found out that An Hao had been displeased at Qin Fen’s, Qin Jian would also feel uncomfortable.

”It’s always sister-in-law. Has she become the Qin Family’s sky now?” Qin Fen hummed softly.

”Say that again.” Qin Ru Hai slammed down his chopsticks with a snap, ”Qin Fen, there’s something wrong with your thinking. Song Yueqin is the one with a flawed character; what does that have to do with your sister-in-law?”

”Your sister-in-law treats you well. Her family also treats our family well; ever since she married Qin Jian, they’ve grown a big greenhouse of vegetables, and our family hasn’t had to buy vegetables for the past six months. An Ping comes over every three to five days to deliver vegetables! Aren’t we all basking in the light of your sister-in-law? Your brother dotes on your sister-in-law, and she is good to our family; it’s enough to make me wake up laughing from dreams.” Li Junping had learned to be grateful since that incident.

”Yeah, taking someone’s hand makes one’s mouth soft, doesn’t it?”

No sooner had Qin Fen spoken than Qin Ru Hai’s chopsticks struck down hard on top of his head, ”If you talk nonsense again, just get out and go to work! You’ve done nothing good at home for half the year!”

Scolded, Qin Fen felt unhappy, put down his chopsticks, and left.

”Hey, where are you going?” Li Junping was about to chase after him but was stopped by Qin Ru Hai, ”I think he’s been bewitched by that girl from the Song Family, let him go and sober up a bit.”

”Ah... Ah!” Li Junping sighed heavily.

After leaving home, Qin Fen had nowhere to go.

He wandered around the village for half the day and then decided to go see Song Yueqin at her house.

Having heard she’d been sick for several days, he was indeed somewhat worried about not visiting her.

Qin Fen used his own savings to buy some of Yueqin’s favorite snacks and fruit and then knocked on the Song Family’s door. After knocking for a long while with no answer, he simply carried the stuff inside.

It was noon, and the yard was quiet, probably everyone was napping.

He found the room where Yueqin stayed and gently knocked on the door. From inside came Yueqin’s voice, ”What are you knocking for? Come on in.”

Qin Fen walked in with the stuff and saw Yueqin lying motionless on the bed.

”Yueqin, I came to see how you are,” Qin Fen said softly to Yueqin.

Yueqin recognized his voice and turned to sit up. When she saw Qin Fen had come to visit her and was holding a bunch of snacks, she was somewhat moved.

”Why did you even come? Now everyone within ten miles knows I’m a woman of loose morals, and they all can’t wait to stay far away from me, why would you still come near?”

Qin Feng saw Yueqin’s little face flushed red from fever, and her whole body seemed to have thinned down, with her eyes appearing bigger as if embedded in her face, eliciting a feeling of pity.

”Yueqin, deep down you’re a kind person, I know it. You’ve just been oppressed by An Hao all along, feeling uneasy inside, which led you to do those things. I can understand you! It’s just hatred that has blinded you,” Qin Fen said with earnest conviction.

Yueqin looked at his silly expression, felt a stir in her heart, and her lips curved into a smile, ”Do you really think I’m that good?”

”Mhm.”

”But everyone else thinks I’m bad. Now there’s not even one person who dares to marry me... what do you think I should do?” Yueqin looked at Qin Fen, and an unusual sparkle appeared in her eyes, which had previously been ashen.
