Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 608: Hidden Floor

While Zhang Fei and Feng Yao were looking for a way to the hidden floor, some of the participants had already chosen a technique that suited them on the fourth floor, and they rushed to learn their chosen technique.

Xian Xianqin was eager to get a divine grade technique, but she had tried it in the past and failed to learn it, so she decided to go down to the third floor and choose a celestial grade technique.

Yun Xinyue made the same decision as Xian Xianqin, and she had already begun studying a celestial-grade technique on the third floor. Yuan Luo, Ye Zhiqiu, and Bai Shouyi also chose celestial-grade techniques. Some members of the other groups, lacking the confidence to learn the divine grade techniques, also descended to the third floor.

Meanwhile, Ximen Chuixue, Xian Xianwu, and Bai Tianʼer remained on the fourth floor. They had not managed to find a technique that suited them, so they continued to search among the thousands of techniques on that floor.

After she searched for some time, Xian Changyue found a divine-grade technique for her, so she immediately took it and read it seriously before starting to learn it.

[Master, look over the upper wall north of you.] Zhang Fei immediately turned in the direction Mei was pointing, and he discovered an unusual painting. [Iʼve checked everything in this place, but thereʼs nothing unusual about them. However, the system canʼt detect the painting, so I think itʼs related to the hidden floor.]

Before he approached the painting, Zhang Fei saw a thin light emitting from it, convincing him that Mei was right. He directly told Feng Yao before approaching it together, and they were immediately sucked into it after they touched it.

Since most of them were already occupied with studying the divine grade techniques of their choice, almost no one noticed their disappearance, including Ximen Chuixue and Xian Xianwu, who were still busy selecting techniques.

Bai Tianʼer, upon noticing the disappearance of Zhang Fei and Feng Yao, hurriedly flew in front of the painting. As soon as she touched it, the painting immediately sucked her in.

Zhang Fei and Feng Yao arrived in a room filled with extremely heavy pressure, nearly causing them to collapse to their knees.

Feng Yao immediately mobilized her cultivation to fight back the pressure, but it was still quite troublesome for her, even though it had reached the divine manifestation realm.

Zhang Fei could also feel the pressure bearing down on him, but it was not too difficult for him to overcome it. After all, he had long since adapted to sixteen times heavier gravity, and the pressure was slightly lower than that.

”How can you withstand this heavy pressure so easily?” Feng Yao asked with a surprised expression.

”Hehe.” Zhang Fei chuckled in response. ”You will find out about it when you join our seclusion.”

Bai Tianʼer suddenly appeared in front of them, but she instantly fell to the floor without being able to move or speak. ʼUgh! Why is the pressure this heavy? Itʼs several times stronger than on the previous floor.ʼ

”Why did you follow us here, Senior Sister?” Bai Tianʼer glanced at Zhang Fei with a look of help. ”I can withstand this pressure because of my bodyʼs strength, so I canʼt help you withstand this pressure with your fragile body, but I can send you back to the previous place.”

Bai Tianʼer then glanced at Feng Yao, but the phoenix princess, still struggling with the pressure, rejected her with a shake of her head. Even if she protected her with her aura, the Bai Princess still wouldnʼt be able to concentrate on learning the technique.

Bai Tianʼer was disappointed with their answer, but she knew that she would be a burden to them if she forced herself. After she sent a voice transmission to him, Zhang Fei immediately sent her out of the place through the previous path.

In the end, Bai Tianʼer had to be satisfied with choosing one of the divine grade techniques, and she immediately started learning it once she chose one.

”Zhang Fei! Please get that technique for me.” Feng Yao said as she pointed towards a technique scroll, which was covered in blazing fire.

Zhang Fei looked at the technique and sucked it into his hand straight away. ”Oh? Immortal grade: Phoenix Soul Ascension Art? This technique is very suitable for you as a pure phoenix.”

”Yeah.” Feng Yao immediately received the technique from Zhang Feiʼs hand and sat cross-legged to read it. ”You must find the technique you need as soon as possible, or you will run out of time.”

Zhang Fei utilized his senses to identify all the techniques present in the room. ʼHmm? The Immortal Jade Body Art seems interesting, but I donʼt know if it is better than my heavenly body tempering technique. The Soul Binding Reality Art is definitely a soul technique, but itʼs not much different from my dream imprisonment ability. The Immortal Breathing Method seems useful since it can speed up my Qi absorption rate, but Iʼm a dual cultivator, so I donʼt really need it. Those movement techniques are also good, but my nine cloud steps are enough for now, and I still have my teleportation ability.”

For some time, Zhang Fei read and thought about the most suitable technique for him, especially since all the techniques there were extraordinary, making it confusing for him to choose one. His gaze suddenly fell on a technique that was floating quite far behind the others, and he immediately sucked it into his hand. ʼWhat do you think of this Immortal Yin-Yang Fire Art, Mei? Should I choose this technique?ʼ

[Actually, there are numerous techniques suitable for you, but I believe this Immortal Grade Yin-Yang Fire Art is the most appropriate. You can use this technique for both offense and defense, as well as for alchemy and blacksmithing, so I believe you should choose it over the others, Master.

[Ding]

[You obtained the Immortal Yin-Yang Fire Art.]

Zhang Fei nodded in agreement, opened the technique, and read the details.

[Yin-Yang Fire Art: This technique is still incomplete, and the user must absorb ten kinds of heavenly flames to perfect it. Although it is not yet perfect, the userʼs fire strength will increase by one hundred percent after mastering it, and it will increase by one hundred percent for each flame the user absorbs.]

ʼHuh?ʼ Zhang Fei was shocked by the details of the technique. ʼOne hundred percent for each fire? If I were to absorb all the flames, wouldnʼt that equate to a total of one thousand percent? Do you have any information about the ten heavenly flames, Mei?ʼ

[Iʼll show you their data, Master. Anyway, one of them is near you, so you can get it faster.]

===

[Ten Heavenly Flames]

1. Dragon Flame

2. Phoenix Fire

3. Soul Fire

4. Blood Fire

5. Earth Flame

6. Sky Flame

7. Sun Flame

8. Moon Fire

9. Chaotic Flame

10. Eternal Flame

”Hmm?” Zhang Fei frowned after reading the list. ʼLong Huang and his family are pure dragons, but Iʼm not sure that their flame would be useful, especially since they werenʼt flame dragons. As for the Phoenix Fire, Feng Yao was a pure fire phoenix, so she could help me with that. Do you have any information about the location of the other heavenly flames?ʼ

[Unfortunately, the system has no information about their location, Master. Perhaps Feng Yao knows some of them, so you can ask her after you guys go back.]

ʼYeah, youʼre right.ʼ Since the technique was no ordinary technique, and it was of an immortal grade, Zhang Fei decided to send his five clones into the training space. This way, he could learn it more easily if his five clones also learned it at the same time, especially by using the comprehension feature.

Above the tower, the old man and his disciples continued to pay attention to Zhang Fei, wondering whether he would succeed in learning the Immortal Yin-Yang Fire Art.

Sima Yun suddenly said to Helian Xunʼer. ”Hey, Xunʼer! Iʼve placed a bet on my golden phoenix fern, but you havenʼt placed any yet. It would be wise for you to do so now, as Iʼm certain to win our wager.”

”Haha.” Hua Meiʼer laughed before saying. ”Old brat, Sister Xunʼer has a jug of hundred-thousand-year-old frost spirit wine, and it is no less than your phoenix fern, so I believe you will really enjoy drinking it.”

Sima Yun immediately turned to Helian Xunʼer with sparkling eyes, causing her to sigh helplessly. She immediately took out a jug of frost spirit wine and opened the lid for a mere second, but it was enough to entice Sima Yun and their master.

Sima Yun started to drool after he smelled the aroma of the wine, and his eyes kept staring at the wine jug, but Helian Xunʼer did not give it to him right away. ”You can have it if that kid manages to learn the technique, but I donʼt believe that he can learn it in just a day, so you better be prepared to lose your golden phoenix fern.”

”Heh!” Sima Yu snorted in response. ”You should be prepared to lose your wine, and I will drink it together with our master.”

The old man shook his head before asking Helian Xunʼer. ”Did you get the ingredients from the Spirit Temple? Did you use sneaky methods on Jing Shendian?”

”Yes, Master.” Helian Xunʼer then told them how she got the wine ingredients, making them laugh. ”Jing Shendian was too stupid, so I managed to trick him into getting the golden spirit dew and the soul lotus seed. After that, I brought the two ingredients and other materials to Senior Sister Yue Bingxuanʼs place, and he helped me make the wine. Unfortunately, the lengthy process of making the wine, which took a hundred years, and the limited availability of ingredients resulted in only a few jars being produced.”

”Haha.” The old man laughed as he rubbed his beard. ”Jing Shendian has always been like that, and he still hasnʼt changed, even though so many people have taken advantage of his innocence and naivety too many times.”

”Master, look at that kid!” Hua Meiʼer suddenly shouted as she pointed at the screen in front of them, and her eyes opened quite wide as she saw Zhang Feiʼs body being enveloped by thin black and white flames, indicating that he had begun to comprehend the Immortal Yin-Yang Fire Arts.

After being momentarily stunned, Sima Yun immediately turned to Helian Xunʼer, who looked shocked. ”See? I told you that we canʼt underestimate this kid, but you donʼt believe me. Heʼs only been studying the technique for a few minutes, but heʼs already grasped the essence, so heʼll definitely succeed in learning it.”

Helian Xunʼer was at a loss for words to respond to Sima Yun, as she had consistently underestimated Zhang Fei from the start, particularly due to her lack of attention toward him since he began the challenges. Furthermore, she and the others were unaware of the numerous cheats Zhang Fei possessed, which significantly aided him in overcoming all challenges.

”Yunʼer is right, and this kid will definitely succeed in learning that technique.” The old man uttered this as he nodded in satisfaction. ”This way, your defeat is obvious, Xunʼer.”

”No!” Helian Xunʼer still denied it. ”He has indeed managed to grasp the essence of that technique, but he has not truly mastered it, so I will not admit defeat before he truly succeeds.”

”Stubborn!” Sima Yu cursed silently to himself as he glanced at the jug of wine. ʼHeh! Iʼll drink the wine in front of her later, and she will regret having looked down on that kid.ʼ

Hua Meiʼer giggled at the two of them, but then she looked at Feg Yao. ”Master, the female phoenix seems like she will also succeed in learning her chosen technique.”

”Yes.” The old man nodded in agreement. ”She is a pure fire phoenix, and she came from the upper realms, so itʼs not strange that she can learn the technique more easily. As for that kid, not only does he have amazing talent, but he also has extraordinary comprehension. Learning the Yin-Yang Fire Art is a challenging task, particularly for those who lack a profound understanding of the Yin and Yang.

”Are you planning to tell that guy about that kid, Master?” Hua Meiʼer inquired.

Sima Yu just remembered about that. ”That person is the creator of the Yin-Yang Fire Art, so I think he needs to know about this kid, Master.”

The old man nodded to them. ”I do have to inform that guy about him, but I wonʼt tell him now, and I will tell him after this kidʼs cultivation reaches the seven divine realms.”

”Why is that, Master?” Helian Xunʼer asked in confusion.

The old man immediately explained. ”This kid came from the lower realms, and the situation there is completely different from our realms. His talent is extraordinary indeed, but his mindset has not been fully formed, and he still needs a few years to mature in cultivation. If that guy brings him there too early, Iʼm afraid he wonʼt be able to handle the pressure, and his talent will be wasted if his mindset breaks. Moreover, his talent will make many people jealous, and they will immediately kill him as soon as they hear about him. That guy is strong, but he wonʼt be able to protect him, so itʼs better if he stays in his current realm until heʼs truly ready.”

”I see.”

.

Ten hours passed quickly; the black and white flames covering Zhang Feiʼs body were already extremely bright, and the two formed a Yin Yang symbol around him.

[Ding]

[The host has mastered the Immortal Yin-Yang Fire Art at the initial stage. Fire count: 0]

After the notification appeared, Zhang Fei immediately withdrew his fire element, and the black and white flames quickly dissipated before disappearing completely. He immediately let out a sigh of relief and opened his eyes. ʼFortunately, I have my clones and the comprehension feature, or else I would have failed to learn the technique.ʼ

Zhang Fei immediately sent his five clones to their respective places, especially since they had to complete both daily quests. Moreover, it was already morning outside the tower, and his first clone had to help Zhang Lingxue to open their new shop.

”Did you succeed in learning the technique you chose?” Feng Yao immediately inquired after she had finished learning her technique.

Zhang Fei nodded at her. ”Unlike you, I received a lot of help in learning my technique, but it still took me so long to succeed.”

”I donʼt know where you got your clone technique from, but it is your blessing, and you can achieve a lot by relying on them.” Feng Yao then asked him. ”Why donʼt you teach your clone technique to Lingxue and the others? If they learn it, their cultivation will be as rapid as yours, and you wonʼt have to look for so many women anymore.”

”Haha.” Zhang Fei laughed as he rubbed his nose. ”Actually, I also want them to learn it, but I canʼt share it with them because it is one of my demon abilities. Thatʼs why they wonʼt be able to learn it unless I use my demon bloodline to turn them into one, but I donʼt want them to become one.”

”I see.” Feng Yao nodded in understanding and stood up. ”Letʼs go back to the previous room.”

When they returned to the previous room, Zhang Fei and Feng Yao saw that the other participants were still busy studying their techniques. However, they were suddenly expelled from the library, and they immediately returned to the first floor of the tower.

Zhang Fei immediately spoke to Feng Yao. ”It appears we must wait for the others to finish before you can take your final maze challenge.”

”Itʼs okay; Iʼm not in a hurry with that.”

Zhang Fei [1], Zhang Lingxue, Chu Ying, Chu Qing, and five people from the demon fox group were already at their shop in the capital to prepare for the opening.

However, Yang Caojing unexpectedly arrived with several guards and informed Zhang Fei [1] that Xian Feng had asked him to secure the area around their shop.

Since Xian Feng had already done so, Zhang Fei [1] decided to accept his help, and he immediately opened his new shop. ”Lingxue, you can start now, and people will definitely gather to watch you.”
