The Deadly Hitwoman: The Heiress's Special Abilities

Chapter 198: Chapter 198: So Absurd!

Han Jing knew that Su Yaogeng was not someone who would harbor grudges over past matters, but in her current position, facing such things, it was inevitable to feel sentimental.

”Jing’er has grown up, okay, Mother knows, what’s past is past, it’s no longer important.” Su Yaogeng nodded. She wasn’t looking to dwell on rights and wrongs, just hadn’t expected a day like this, where the tranquility she once believed in would be completely shattered in an instant.

Han Jing specifically stayed in Su Yaogeng’s courtyard to accompany her for dinner, and not long after, the person Aunt Xi sent to gather news returned.

Since there were no outsiders here, Aunt Xi directly shared everything she had learned.

”It’s said that during the time at the Palace, the Duchess had a quarrel with Duke Wei, and perhaps out of impulse, Duke Wei mentioned divorce. Mrs. Qin likely considered the reputation of the Duke Mansion and didn’t say anything more at the Palace. After returning to the Capital City, Duke Wei did not rest in Mrs. Qin’s room but stayed in the study. This matter became a topic of discussion among the people in the mansion, even alarming the old lady of the Duke Mansion. Mrs. Qin felt humiliated, and with what was previously said about divorce by Duke Wei, as the Duchess, if she really were divorced, naturally she would have no face to live on. So, last night, in a moment of desperation, attempted suicide; when found, she was already in a bad state, and it was difficult to save her. The old lady strictly ordered the people in the mansion not to let the news leak, but before, Mrs. Qin genuinely wished to die, having a brush with death, she became obstinate, saying rather than waiting for Duke Wei to divorce her, she might as well separate. She quietly sent someone back to Minister Qin Mansion and informed Minister Qin of this. Old Minister Qin, having only this one daughter, who had now been driven to the point of attempting suicide, naturally disregarded any sense of face, sending his son to the Duke Mansion to take her back. Thus, the matter escalated and spread out. Qin Family members waited at the Duke Mansion all afternoon and eventually took her home. Therefore... this matter will be difficult to settle. The old lady fell ill with anger, the Heir’s wife needs to take care of the child, the Duke Mansion is in chaos, and now it seems that the whole Capital City is aware of it.”

This matter has blown up to the point of becoming the laughingstock of the entire Capital City, and the Duke Mansion couldn’t keep it under wraps, so it was easily discovered.

Su Yaogeng frowned: ”What are outsiders saying?”

Aunt Xi hesitated a bit and said: ”Princess, you shouldn’t pay heed to those idle gossips. The Duke Mansion is a family with a century-long tradition. After a few days when Mrs. Qin is brought back, this matter will come to an end.”

”Alright, stop beating around the bush with me, just tell me what the outsiders are saying?” Had it not involved her, Han Siqu wouldn’t have blown up like this.

Aunt Xi hesitated and said: ”They... they are saying that during the Palace time, Duke Wei chased after you all night, wanting to divorce his wife, perhaps planning to reunite with you. Being the Eldest Princess, you have the right to divorce the Marquis, so...”

The words that followed, Aunt Xi couldn’t bear to say, but Su Yaogeng understood exactly what it meant.

It is to say that because Han Si Que wants to divorce his wife, everyone naturally assumed he did it to be with her, so he would divorce his first wife. And then, when she later divorces Han Siqu, it would naturally lead to remarrying Han Si Que.

Such a ridiculous idea, who knows how they ever came up with it!
