CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 1614: Chapter 1622: Have you understood?

At that time, Father Sampton never took it seriously, always thinking that for the Sampton Family to reach where it is today, the Black Clan helped, sure, but it’s mainly because of his own ability to secure so many contracts.

He was even secretly angry in his heart, resenting that his parents dismissed all his contributions to the company as the boss with just one sentence.

But now, Father Sampton finally sees clearly that those contracts he thought he secured on his own were actually given out of respect for the Black Clan, and quite a few were obtained through the Black Clan’s connections.

Old Sir Sampton saw things clearer than he did; Old Sir Sampton had always known that the Black Clan’s support to the Sampton Family was all for Jane Sampson’s sake.

That’s why Grandpa Sampton and Granny Sampton transferred all the shares in their hands to Jane Sampson.

The more shares Jane Sampson holds, the more support the Black Clan will offer to the Sampton Family, because the Black Family wants Jane to live happily and spend money freely.

Rather than saying the Sampton Family relies on the Black Clan to survive, it would be more accurate to say the Sampton Family depends on Jane Sampson, the shareholder, to survive.

”Jane, I beg you, the company still has so many employees to take care of, can you really bear to see the company collapse like this?” Father Sampson pleaded with the silent Jane Sampson.

Jane Sampson took a step back and then looked towards Julie Sampton, ”Julie Sampton, do you see it clearly now? You’re always saying I’m an outsider holding the shares of the Sampton Family, constantly fighting with you, the biological daughter of the Sampton Family, over the company. Now, do you see it clearly? Is it truly me, Jane Sampson, shamelessly stealing your stuff and unwilling to return it, or am I...”

At this point, Jane took a deep breath, ”Or am I always shouldering the burden for the Sampton Family? Do you think holding the shares of the Sampton Family doesn’t burn my hand? Do you think receiving dividends from the Sampton Family doesn’t make me feel anxious? Do you think holding the shares of the Sampton Family makes me very happy?”

In Jane Sampson’s hands, the shares of the Sampton Family felt like a burning stone, but she had to hold them tightly, for the sake of the Sampton Family, she dared not release them even for a moment.

If possible, she wouldn’t have wanted any shares from the Sampton Family from the start.

Since the day Julie Sampton returned to the Sampton Family, Jane knew what’s not yours shouldn’t be taken; it’s useless even if you do.

The care from the Black Family, over the years, the more she received, the more burdened she felt psychologically.

She had never done anything for the Black Family, never given anything to them, but the Black Family kept giving to her, and she felt unworthy of it.

She held onto it, yet felt constantly uneasy.

Especially when she thought of divorcing James Black, she couldn’t eat or sleep peacefully every day, constantly worrying, not knowing how to face the elders of the Black Family, not knowing how to address their disappointment.

”Julie Sampton, you won’t understand how relieved I felt when you and President Sampton forced me to hand over the Sampton Family shares. Before the transfer of equity was completed, do you know how afraid I was of you backing out?”

Jane Sampson gently shook her head, ”These shares aren’t anything good to me; holding them makes me feel they burn my hands. Since you can take them back, then keep them well forever.”

Jane Sampson wasn’t swayed the slightest, just as Granny Sampton said, Father Sampton is already an adult; he must take responsibility for his own foolishness and for his own actions.

No one is obliged to shoulder his responsibilities for a lifetime.
