CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 768: Chapter 776: Is It All So Annoying?

She originally thought that with an offer of fifty or one hundred thousand in benefits, she would definitely be able to secure this jade hairpin. She might even curry favor with Alexander Forest and his friend, while also probing the background of Alexander’s mysterious friend.

Little did she know, Alexander Forest was a tough nut to crack, and Mr. Black was even tougher—neither giving her as much as a second glance, nor a single smile throughout the entire process.

Amber Edwards thought she had been careless. Alexander was right; a man who can afford to spend eight million wouldn’t care about her one million. So, this time, she had made a mistake, and her plan had failed.

Not to mention that she had missed out on the hairpin she had desired for many years, but she had also managed to offend Mr. Black, a man whose depths were unfathomable.

Amber Edwards had some understanding of Alexander Forest, knowing that many of his friends around him were princes of the Capital Province. That’s why she was so curious about Mr. Black’s identity.

Unfortunately, she used the wrong approach. Not only did she fail to gather any information, but it seemed she had also offended him.

It was only after James had followed the personnel for quite a distance that he suddenly asked Alexander, ”Are all women as annoying as she is?”

”You mean Amber Edwards? She’s not too bad,” Alexander shook his head, ”We’re from the north and the south, respectively, and haven’t had much contact. I don’t really know her, but, ’are all women this annoying?’ By saying that, you’re including your own little Jane too.”

”She is different,” James replied seriously.

Alexander Forest snorted, too lazy to argue with James.

Alexander Forest was certain: birds of a feather flock together. Judging by how well Jane got along with his sister Quincy Forest, Jane was undoubtedly just as exasperating as Quincy. There were times when Alexander Forest, as her brother, even found his sister Quincy bothersome.

James Black had Alexander use his mobile phone to transfer the payment to the auction company. After confirming everything was correct, he carefully collected the item and prepared to leave.

As the two of them left the office, auction company bodyguards escorted them. Should James have any needs, these bodyguards would accompany them all the way home.

At this time, the auction was on a break, and many guests had returned to the banquet hall to the left of the main venue to grab some food, drink some water, and rest.

As Alexander and James passed by, they certainly attracted a lot of attention.

”James, do you see? Over there, four people, two men, and two women,” Alexander sidled up to James, ready to share the gossip, ”The man in the black suit and the lady in the white dress are husband and wife. But the woman in the pink dress is his little sweetheart, and the man beside the lady in the pink dress is the ex-boyfriend of the lady in white. Tell me, aren’t their relationships complicated?”

”Not interested,” James replied, sounding indifferent.

”You’re really no fun. Don’t you think this is more exciting than a TV series?” While Alexander was speaking, a man and a woman suddenly approached from the right. Recognizing them as old acquaintances, he called over to James, ”I’m going to greet them for a moment.”

Since he didn’t know them, James didn’t accompany Alexander.

He just watched as Alexander conversed with the couple, noting the matching rings they both wore, which indicated they were husband and wife. The husband’s hand was loosely around his wife’s waist. They were laughing and chatting familiarly with Alexander, and from their interactions, the couple appeared to be quite close.

Alexander didn’t keep James waiting long and after conversing with the couple for a while, he returned to James’ side to continue gossiping.
