CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 500: Chapter 508: Can’t Lose Face

Jane Sampson didn’t call her grandparents in advance this time; she decided to give them a surprise. When she appeared in the courtyard, the elderly couple was utterly astonished.

”You child, still so willful. It’s rare for you to have a holiday, why aren’t you spending it with James?” Although Granny Sampton chided Jane in her words, her grip on her granddaughter’s hand didn’t loosen in the slightest.

”Grandma, James suddenly had to go out for tasks, and originally, I was planning to visit his guard team before I start my next assignment,” Jane shrugged her shoulders. ”But since he’s not there, I came straight over.”

”Not there, and look how happy that makes you.” Granny Sampton playfully slapped the back of Jane’s hand. ”Child, you’ve been married for so long, why do you still not understand? Husband and wife should spend more time together to strengthen their bond.”

”Eh, Grandma, don’t you think the more time you spend together, the more annoying and sick of each other you get?” Jane asked seriously. ”Why do I feel like I’m getting more and more annoyed with James?”

He, who chased her heart-stoppingly for an hour just for a kiss, was indeed becoming annoying.

”You, you’re just taking advantage of the fact that James dotes on you,” Grandpa Sampton tapped Jane’s forehead.

Jane stuck out her tongue, giggled, and cuddled up to Grandpa Sampton’s arm.

”By the way, are you going to continue acting in your next assignment? You look so weary. Every time you come back, you’re a bit thinner. It makes Grandma worried.” Granny Sampton wasn’t just making empty talk. It had been half a month since she last saw Jane, and she truly felt that Jane seemed a tad slimmer at first glance.

”I haven’t lost weight; I checked my body weight when I got home—no change,” Jane shook her head. In fact, filming every day in the village, sometimes getting less than three hours of rest a day—it would be surprising if she hadn’t lost weight.

But she wouldn’t discuss these hardships with anyone, not even James would know how tough it was for her inside the crew.

The path she chose, she must walk it on her own.

”My next assignment is a variety show in collaboration with the guard team,” Jane explained, ”It’s about experiencing the life of a defender.”

”That sounds interesting!” Grandpa Sampton clapped his hands. ”Jane, your grandpa was a defender, your husband is a defender, so you can’t let the relatives of the guard team down! When you go to the guard team, you must learn well and train hard. Aim to be the best!”

”Is it with James’s guard team?” Granny Sampton’s thoughts were different from Grandpa’s. Her concern was—why does my beloved granddaughter need to undergo the tough training of a guard team?

Therefore, she hoped that the guard team Jane was going to was James’s—so that with Peter Gingery and James watching over her, Jane could have it easier.

”I don’t know; they won’t tell us the location until we get there, but it’s probably not. If it were, Peter would probably know and tell me, and so would James, but neither of them mentioned it, so I guess it’s not.” Jane dispelled that guess.

After all, the show isn’t one you can just join directly. To film it, there’s no doubt a thorough screening process, and even if the documents have been put through, every member of the personnel entering the guard team for the recording will undergo strict scrutiny.

So, if it were really James’s guard team, as the Chief, he would likely know about it.

At her grandparents’ home, Jane spent a blissful day and night. The next day, after dinner, she said goodbye to her grandparents and then drove back home.
